    Although simple, it looks like one of the most fun game concepts I’ve seen from you yet

    Amazing ludum dare game! Played it for about 2 hours and managed to get 7 of the 8 world records. :D (I have no clue how someone got 1.61 in the first level, best I can get is 1.88) Can't wait for Splotch 3 ;)

    • @SebastianLague
      @SebastianLague  7 ปีที่แล้ว +19

      Thanks, and well done on getting the top spot (for the moment anyway). It's really cool to see someone take it so competitively! Yeah I do rather doubt that 1.6 time is legitimate; I'll probably remove it if no one else can even get close. Cheers :)

    • @XLyt
      @XLyt 7 ปีที่แล้ว +8

      If you want to get back to it I took 4 world records (+ equal time for levels 4 and 5) :)
      Have fun
      (Only 1:90 for level 1 tho)

    • @Decentsauce
      @Decentsauce 7 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Haha, nice! Seems like the times improved quite a bit since I played it. :) I'm working on getting them back! Already have the WR for stage 3 back. (2:95)

    • @Decentsauce
      @Decentsauce 7 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Update: Currently back at 1st place on the leaderboards with WR/tied in stage 1,2,3,5,6 and 7. On the other two stages I can still improve by a total of 0.06 but I'll wait with that till someone manages to push me of the leaderboards again. :p

      Splotch is lovely simple and feels perfectly polished. I wonder if you set all the physics simulation in rigidbodies correctly, I think there is a way to make it deterministic.

    Could the discrepancies between runs perhaps be caused by colliding within the line? When editing a line and the ball intersects with it, then upon release of the edit the ball would collide in a different manner than normal, at least I think so.

    I had the same problem with non deterministic physics, hopefully this could help! I wanted replays in a momentum-y platformer using the player's inputs and their times, but that would desync sometimes. So I tried also setting the character's position and velocity at every input, though replays on slow devices would show the character teleporting a lot. Eventually I gave in to recording exclusively positions at 15fps, and lerp'd between them during replays. It works great on any device but because of file size I'll probably only allow world record times to be uploaded to the database.

      There is something both relaxing and engaging with this game :)
      Some feedback:
      - On some level it may be hard to know which ball is holding your time back when several are really close
      - Moving saw cancel your line drawing and related to that I was able to draw line behind a pushed red button but not remove them (I had to (C)lear to remove them)

    Can you make a video about aerodynamics for games (like Besiege and Kerbal Space Program)? I have found a method to get it working, but I'm struggling with the maths (angles of the airplane and its velocity vector). In my opinion, this is one of the coolest game mechanics you can add to a game :)

      You have to draw lines to direct the balls, but when there are multiple balls your own lines will start getting in the way of the paths of the other balls. This is a large part of the challenge in later levels, and is the link to 'the more you have, the worse it is'. I should have mentioned that in the video since it is a bit of an obscure connection. Thanks for asking!

    Hi, can anyone help me? I do not speak English very well, so I'll say it in a few words ... (I'll try LOL) I want to be a programmer, actually I am. I consider myself level intermediate, but I have some problems to increase my level ... I see videos about programming, and I know that I am gaining knowledge every day, but I want to be faster. I just turned 16 and I'm on vacation, and I know I'm going to regret it if I do not give it all to myself at the time. Does anyone know a channel, book, website or blog that I can use to study? It is because this is difficult to learn quickly, because the information is all scattered. I wanted a place where I had a bigger focus (something like LOL);

    hey, your the best unity you tuber i know for complicated things. could you make a video on how to do a realistic fps controller. something like this: th-cam.com/video/0mgm16ki8zM/w-d-xo.html and you can see it actually behaving like i want it at 7:20, of course... in unity. i hope you make this video because my game depends on it and i cant find anything on doing anything like this. i'm sure everybody will benefit from this as well. i hope you make this video! if you don't your still good... i guess.. (Just make the video!)
