I appreciate all the views and comments on this video folks. Welcome to my channel 😊. However, can I please remind you that this is a music channel and that this is the focus. Do not start arguments in the comments about who's faith is real and who's isn't. Please also respect my own faith and refrain from trying to convince me to convert. You are free to interpret my reaction however you please but the fact of the matter is that I regularly have this kind of reaction whether it be this, gospel music, CCM, or secular. In fact, the most I ever cried was reacting to a secular song. So feel free to interpret it as the holy spirit but please don't use that as licence to try and convert me or make out that my reaction was exclusive to Mormon choir music. It isn't. Thanks again, and happy watching 😁😁
You should pin this to the top so people respect your wishes. I wish people could just enjoy and stop being so pushy/negative/etc. I almost never comment but this is the first time I've seen your channel, and I was so moved I needed to share. I was blessed to see your reaction to this lovely music! I've listened to this over and over as I go about my day, and I was so touched by the reminder how music speaks to the soul, and both the music and your reactions brought tears to my eyes! Thank you so much for sharing!
Well, I wasn't planning on crying today, but you tearing up and the music really got to me. 😅 Thanks for reacting to these beautiful songs sung by a wonderful choir. It was a good unintentional reminder that General Conference is happening soon, so I'm also excited now! 😊
@@TheCharlieSmithChannel Haha, I must have been listening to it for so long without refreshing, I missed it getting pinned. Thank you again for sharing your honest reaction!
It is a fact that converting people is what we do. I've been listening to this choir as it has evolved over my entire life-time. Their music still has the power to move me to tears. The impact they must have on you, listening to them for the first time, would be overwhelming. Thank-you for sharing this video.
I watched this reaction video while I was standing in the hallway inside of State Farm arena in Atlanta, just as I was getting ready to step out on stage with 400 of my friends in the Tab Choir and Orchestra to sing this song (and many others) to a live audience of thousands and a streaming audience of tens of thousands. Your reaction made it very clear to me just how blessed I am to be a member of the choir and to have that opportunity. It also prompted me to pray that each member of the listening audience might have such a personal experience with the beauty of the music and the feelings of the Spirit. Thank you for your video!
There us another version of thus song performed by the combined choirs of Rick's college the album is "A Collection of American Folk Hymns". Also conducted by Mac Wilberg as this one was.
I LOVED your response to this video. BYU (a school in Utah) also performed an arrangement of this same song. In my opinion, it is even better than this version. Partially because of the younger ages of the choir members. I'd love to hear your input to it as well, even though you did say that you are constantly seeking for variety. th-cam.com/video/TaZgBHFZV7I/w-d-xo.htmlsi=WwAPpkdksbyy_OQ4
I agree. I get to sing in a choir as large as this, so I’m not in the audience. I forget what being on the listening side of the performance can be like. I must agree, a collective performance like this is one of the greatest things humans can do ❤
I'm a member of this choir and we recently sung "Come Thou Fount of Every Blessing" on tour in Atlanta Georgia. It is a powerful, indescribable experience to sing with so many amazing musicians who love God and believe these words with all our hearts. This arrangement is transcendent and when we sing it it is powerful. I shake too! It is difficult to sing without crying. I loved seeing your reaction and it brings me joy to see the music affect others in the same way it moves me. The Spirit of the Lord is in this music. ❤️
I'm so grateful for your stunning music art and what talented you and your colleagues from Temple Square Choir are. Greetings from a LDS member from Brazil! 🇧🇷♥️
Charlie, Im the Jib camera Operator for the Choir and shot those videos along with hundreds of others. Our broadcast team arrives at 7am on Sunday and rehearses the broadcast once with the choir before we do the live show. It's a miracle every Sunday that we are able to make a darn near perfect broadcast every week with the one rehearsal. The invitation is open, please come to Utah and be our guest at a Sunday morning broadcast.
My great great grandfather designed that organ that is behind the choir. . He also designed and built the first organ in Australia. His name was Joseph Ridges and I feel so blessed to have someone so talented that I desend from. This choir can touch your heart no matter what religion you belong. Seeing your emotion from listening to these angels echoes my feelings as well.
YES, YES, YESSSSS!!!! It was my exact thought and feeling and I sat and teared up with him feeling the Holy Ghost! He has to be invited hear and witness the choir in person!!! I pray to Our Heavenly Father this will happen! What an amazing video!!!
Here's his invitation! Options [edit: for coming in person, though there are ways to watch or listen live as well, like probably here on TH-cam, though in person is its own experience]: Come to the tabernacle on Temple Square in Salt Lake City, Utah at 9:30 AM on a Sunday and listen to their Music and the Spoken Word broadcast! (just come!) If it's the first Sunday of April or October, come to the Conference Center (same downtown area) either that Saturday (10 AM, 2 PM, 6 PM) or Sunday (10 AM, 2 PM) for a 2-hour conference with musical numbers between every three or so talks/sermons. (need a free ticket) The first Sunday of December at 6 PM in the Conference Center is the Christmas devotional--I think there's a higher music:talks ratio and it's shorter than General Conference. (need a free ticket) The choir also goes on tour and puts that and other info on their website and social media.
I would absolutely love to. It's just not something I can afford to do right now unfortunately. An expensive custody battle for my kids is about to wipe me out 😔 one day I hope to make it though ❤️
@@TheCharlieSmithChanneljust here to say the choir puts on weekly performances every Sunday morning that you can view on TH-cam. So many beautiful songs you can watch that way until you can make it out here to Utah to hear it for yourself. I have a feeling it will happen someday!
Remember, please, that this choir began from humble Welsh folks who had joined the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in the 1830-1860 times and had emigrated to Salt Lake Cit, Utah! The Holy Spirit of God speaks to peoples' hearts through their modern music and commitment!
I'm a member in the eastern states. They played in Nashville one year and that's the only time I've seen them live but I was crying buckets when they sang one of my favorite church songs....All is Well
As a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints I think I often take for granted The Tabernacle Choir. I listen to this Choir on a weekly basis and watching your reaction was was a powerful reminder that I need remember to be still and listen and truly stand in awe of the power of music. Thank you.
Yep, same here. I love so close to them, he up around them, they are around all the time... I totally take them for granted. This video was a nice reminder of how blessed I am to have this inspirational music in my life. ❤
I was just thinking the same thing! I've been there I've listened to them on Sunday morning in person. That said, it can still move me especially when I'm really "listening" if you know what I mean.
My husband is a member of this awesome Choir. He sacrifices a lot of time and gas money being a volunteer, but when I see people embrace what they are doing and feel the love, it makes it all worth it. ❤ Brother, if you are ever in Utah, you can go see them sing for free on Sunday mornings while they record “Music and the Spoken Word”. Being there in person, in the large tabernacle, with the enormous organ at full volume is really something amazing to witness. It’s a whole other experience! You need to come immerse yourself in it someday.
You can also just watch the organ practice, that's fun too. You can see the air vibrate as it comes out the pipes. It sounds weird, but you know how you can see hot air coming off concrete, kinda like that.
Show this to him and have him show this to someone in charge! If he had an invitation to practice with them, he would find a way to be in Utah! This man needs an invitation to practice with them!
Just a quick reminder that while this music is beyond epic, it is far from the only source of such strong emotions. Some of the greatest emotional experiences I’ve felt were in a high school choir singing Eric Whitacre’s Lux Arumque or Ola Gjeilo’s Northern lights in a Catholic cathedral where the sound could really reverberate through us! Again, not taking away from this glorious music, but I don’t want you to confuse that sensation with the religions of the singers because that has been a strategy of religions since their conception
@@alextemus It's not that the music is only touching because it's religious, but that music in general is a powerful way for Heavenly Father to communicate his love for us. Religious context or not, if it is inspiring and uplifting, he is there.
@@nuggetoftruth865 Alright, you’re right that’s possible. But the only ones saying there’s a connection between those two things are the religions claiming that’s evidence of their specific religion. It’s pretty suspicious.
As a lifelong member of the church the Tabernacle Choir is part of, I forget sometimes just how unusual this choir of angels really is. I’ve had friends and family members in the choir and orchestra. It is powerful because it’s all for GOD! ❤🎉😊
Me too. Hearing this choir all my life, I forget what a blessing this music is. It brought tears to my eyes watching someone experience it for the first time.
That's what I was going to say, too. My dad has been involved with the Tabernacle Choir my entire life, so I forget how incredible they are. Thank you for the reminder to appreciate them!
“By their fruits…..” A member I know told his foundering son: “If following the teachings of the Church helps you become a better person, I suggest you continue going and living it, and continue studying the Savior in both the Bible and the Book of Mormon. Put it to the test and let me know how you feel in a year. If they haven’t, then don’t.”
I feel awkward posting this comment lol but For everyone reading it’s the actual name is the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, and I love this church lol and it’s the most important thing I have in my life! ❤️
The Counterfeiter is a master at making things as close as possible to the Truth. Do not be deceived, Mormons need to repent and come to Jesus, the true Savior. Praying for them finding the True Living Hope, Jesus son of the Living God.
I grew up listening to Mormon Tabernacle Choir Christmas albums, despite the fact that my family was not at all religious. As a result, I watched as an adult, every year when OPB aired the Christmas Tabernacle concert. The majesty of their performances is almost overwhelming and I really doubt there is a more talented volunteer orchestra and choir anywhere in the world. Their pipe organ is spectacular. Their Christmas "Carol of the Bells" performance even includes it's own bell section. Thank you for highlighting their talent.
For anyone who needs clarification (probably already provided elsewhere in the chat): the Mormon Tabernacle Choir (or MoTab as I grew up calling it) is the same organization that is now named The Tabernacle Choir, or the Tabernacle Choir at Temple Square. So, maybe you've heard of it with the older name. It has a very impressive history. I love seeing it's work being enjoyed. 🥰 If you're curious about why the name changed: The name change is a fairly recent thing and part of a church-wide push to hold with our church's official name, the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, rather than with any shortening. I mean we got called the Mormon church because we have a book that is another testament of Jesus Christ which is titled 'The book of Mormon.' It was named after/by the last prophet historian who wrote it before he buried it for later peoples. So it's obvious why we got the nickname "Mormons." But it's a little deceptive. I mean nobody ever worshiped Mormon. We're not his church. If you read his section of the history, he had a hard time even getting basic obedience as a military leader of his people. And it really is important at this time and age to remember that our focus is on Jesus Christ. And so, yeah, a couple years ago our prophet asked us to fix the bad habit we've gotten into. And there were enough domain names and things already set in the digital world, that it's been a fairly dramatic and long-term saga of switching names to match to the original/official name. 😂
The Tabernacle Choir and Orchestra at Temple Square do a weekly, usually live, broadcast called Music and the Spoken Word on Sundays at 9:30 MT (they stream it here on TH-cam, too), if you want a little extra, consistent listening experience. 😄 The broadcasts are 30 minutes long, and consist of several songs and a spoken spiritual message by the Choir presenter. And if you ever get the chance, go to an in-person performance! They're always (or always as far as I know) free, and some don't even require tickets. For example, their Music and the Spoken Word broadcasts held in Salt Lake City are almost always open to the public to attend without tickets, you just have to get there early enough. Listening from a CD or online or however is already fantastic, but the in-person performances are just life-changing!
I grew up listening to the Tabernacle Choir, and you made me realize how spoiled I am. My father was a wonderful musician, so my brothers and I grew up with a love for music, and we often sang as a family, 4-part harmony, at church and at various events. You could say that I’m a choir nerd, singing in choirs starting in elementary school all the way through college and beyond. You are correct in your assessment that it must be amazing to be a participant in creating exceptional music in such a large group of people. I was blessed to sing in the Concert Choir at Brigham Young University back when Mack Wilberg was the director. (He is the current Tabernacle Choir conductor. He wrote the arrangement for, and is conducting the choir & orchestra, in this video of “Come Thou Fount”.) He is an exceptional musician, composer, and person, and I am so grateful for my experiences singing under his baton. One of the joys of my life. Now, listening to the Tabernacle Choir each Sunday in the program Music and the Spoken Word is a joy and a spiritual gift. And it was so delightful to see you as you experienced the choir for the very first time. Hugs to you!
@CharlieSmithChannel my husband is the first totally blind male member of this choir! He reads braille music and memorizes everything. I hope you will take the opportunity to watch many of the hundreds of videos that they have done. They are all free and the members of this choir all volunteer their time. Every Sunday, they have the longest running weekly broadcast in the world (Music and the Spoken Word)
Please thank your husband for me, for his dedication to singing with the choir. I'm so happy he is able to do that! I marvel at how he is able to memorize all of the songs. Truly a gift.
How cool! My ex is visually impaired, he vocational rehab counselor when he was young was Marianne (sp?) Fisher, who was a blind choir member. She also wrote one of the hymns, if I remember right it was 'as I search the holy scriptures', which was interesting/ unique/ neat, given that the Book of Mormon or Bible in Braille is literally an armful (and this was back in the early days of anything digital.) ❤
@@beckyscreativespooniebeehive yes! We knew Marianne Fisher and also Linda Braithwaite, who was in the choir in the 1990s. Thankfully, Electronic Braille is a thing now!
Charlie, thank you for your beautiful, sincere, heartfelt reaction. As a current member of the choir, I can tell you that this is what we hope our music helps people to feel. 🙏🏼 If you're ever in Salt Lake City, we'd absolutely love to have you come see us and sing with us at a rehearsal!
As a child growing up in WA State, I knew nothing about the church, but I had heard the choir sing on the radio, and even then, (70 + years ago), I fell in love with it. I walked home from grade school daily, about 3/4 of a mile, and very often would be singing at the top of my voice, and pretending somebody in one of the cars driving by, would be from the choir and they would stop and ask me to come sing with them! Years later, after joining the church, and as RS Pres in our branch, I went to SLC with a friend to bring back the supplies the branch had ordered for that year. (1977). We went to listen to the choir practice on Thurs evening, and at one point the director turned around and asked if there was anyone there who would like to come up and practice with them. I didn't hesitate! It was thrilling! I don't recall the name of the director back then, and the Symphony did not perform with the choir then, either. I think it would be doubly thrilling, now!
There is nothing better than singing in a choir. I sing in a 60 member Episcopal church choir. We had the pleasure of singing at St. Paul’s London last summer. That space was amazing.
Hello Charlie! I am one of the members of the orchestra at temple square, part of the violins accompanying the choir. Thank you for listening to our music! It makes it so worth the time and energy to see your reaction. I’m so happy it touched you! Come Thou Fount makes me cry even while I’m playing it. I love the descriptions you used. thank you so much for listening ❤
@harambeboy woah, it's it's guy! I've seen you around a bit :) hes talking about what those in the choir receive, that bring no money whatsoever, he's not referring to tithing
"Come Thou Fount" sung by this choir is seriously soul stirring. I can't listen to it attentively without having my heart and soul touched by God's love.
Ah yes i’m a member of the church to which this choir is espoused to !! So glad to see your reaction to this. That feeling at the end of the second video you reacted to was the influence of the spirit on you which I can see has moved you to the point you’ve felt in your body. God bless brother 🫶🏽
So… when I listen to epic secular choral music like Eric Whitacre’s Lux Arumque, or Ola Gjeilo’s Northern Lights and feel the same sensation, how do you explain that? Music elicits a strong dopamine response, and choral music in particular. This has nothing to do with the religion, but it’s a great method of causing followers to mis-attribute those sensations with the organization. 😢 Kinda sorry for anyone who got duped. This simply isn’t the only source of this kind of sensation
@@alextemus If you read the lyrics to the hymn of ‘come thou fount of every blessing’ then you’ll understand the emotional impact that are being concocted. I understand your point of view and it is reasonable but I believe the hymns expressed by choirs and are specifically being attributed towards deity, one cannot deny the strong influence that derives from hearing it and I know for myself unequivocally that it is the spirit of God testifying to the soul of certain truths and principles that are being illumined in the hymn. If you disagree then that’s alright and feel free to move along. I’m simply attesting to what I know and of my experiences and when a learned man is moved to the point where tears are flowing and body parts are anxiously shaking, that is no ordinary expression that occurs to simply listening, but by interpretation of melodie’s that touch the human soul. How can you explain the strong dopamine that occurs if one is touched by a hymn ? how can a hymn elicit strong dopamine one could ask ? Because it’s the spirit of God. But take no offense, I mean in no way to force or impose this ideal on you but just justifying my position. :))
I have been blessed in my life to be in the Conference Center in downtown Salt Lake City, during the church's General Conference events where the choir sings during each session. It was amazing!!! It is so incredible to hear them sing live in the massive conference center. Nothing quite like them!!! Also, they rotate choir members. They're only allowed to be in the choir for a certain amount of years or if they reach a certain age so many people are part of the choir over the years. It's beautiful!!! You should listen to more of their music.
My daughter Sarah’s Birthday was yesterday. She would have been 41. She died in a car accident in 2004. She was a beautiful flautist, and she would play Come Thou Fount along with her older sister Rachel who plays the piano. Every time the Tabernacle Choir sings this, after the men finish their part, when that flute comes in it is like our daughter is in the room with us. We even had part of that song’s last verse inscribed on her headstone. Because of our Faith in Jesus Christ, and our knowledge of the restored Gospel of Jesus Christ of which the Tabernacle Choir sings, we know we will be reunited with Sarah again. We have been sealed to her, and to our other children in the House of The Lord, the Temple of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in Salt Lake City, Utah. Thank you for letting the Spirit move you. There is more where that came from! Lots more.
I live in LA County and finally got to see the Tabernacle Choir sing at the Disney Music Hall. It was emotionally moving to my entire body and soul. At one point I felt like there was something majestically angelic and brilliant that was present above the choir. But, even these words don’t really describe the feeling.
@@Austar7 It was at least 15 years ago. And I can’t recall what they sang, other than the fact that the songs were a combination of church hymns , as well as international and domestic classics. (I’m just an old rock and roll guy from the 60s and 70s. But, great music is great music, no matter what the genre.)
YES YES YES! The Mormon Tabernacle music program is among THE finest and best on earth!!! - former Anglican Cathedral choirmaster and organist, composer, professor and professional violist.
Ahhh, this is beautiful, but there is nothing on Earth more beautiful and inspiring to me than to sit in a beautiful old English Cathedral and hear a Choral Evensong, especially with a boys choir, which I have been fortunate enough to experience many times. It's my favorite thing to do in England. The music seems to float through the colored light streaming in from the stained glass windows. As an American, that has been one of the most spiritual and unforgettable experiences in my life. Such a shame that so few English people attend or appreciate this magnificent cultural daily event. Something to be so proud of! Something to me that will always be England. Thank you for being part of that.
Every Sunday at 9:30 a.m. Mountain Time. It's called Music & the Spoken Word (it's mostly music, and be assured, the spoken word is universal and as inspiring and versatile as the music. There's no 'hard sell' for the Church, rather it's a loving offering for lives.
I left the church years ago, with no plans to return, but I can appreciate the old hymns and I always love the Tabernacle Choir. Come thou fount is a favorite.
Music is the universal language of the soul. This song is a plea of the soul, it is a universal longing for to keep our hearts safe from pain and leaving our Heavenly Father’s love. “Here’s my heart, oh, take and seal it”! Our souls can’t help but crave these things! Thank you for the video my friend!
First time viewer, and wow. My soul needed this today. I took 10 minutes for lunch and this video was in my feed. It touched something deep within me today and I wept with you. Thanks for the video.
I feel so happy that you have been introduced to this choir and the beautiful music they produce. The conductor is Mack Wilberg, who also did the arrangement of Come Thou Fount that you heard. He is one of the greatest choral musicians of our time. My daughter sang in the Tabernacle Choir a number of years back. When she auditioned there were 800 applicants for 20 places, which tells you what a high standard of musical excellence is required to sing in this group. I hope that you will return to listen to them again, especially when you feel stressed or alone, as we all do occasionally. Your reaction was beautiful and I am grateful to you for sharing it.
Sir, It's 3:21am in Raleigh NC and I came across this video. I felt like you did being brought to tears. That's what the Spirit does to me. I know what you mean by the experience of humans coming together and collaborating. It can be so powerful. Also, I believe you felt the love of our Heavenly Father, the hug, His Spirit. Thank you for playing this video and sharing your experience. Have a blessed life!
The Savior Jesus Christ referred to the Holy Ghost as a “comforter.” So interesting to literally hear this guy say that felt like he was being “hugged”…feeling the spirit is truly like being wrapped up in a warm comforting blanket of overwhelming love!!!
I was in a choir in college where This director of The Tabernacle Choir was our director. Yes 50 years ago. By the end of the term everyone in our congregation had joined the ward choir. He is That Inspirational. Not surprised at all all when he became director of The Tabernacle Choir. Mack Wilberg. Thank you for featuring this today
YES!!! The power of God is there! He was feeling the Holy Ghost testify to him! You cannot help but tear up! It’s a powerful feeling through your whole being! ❤
I have been listening to the Choir for years and years, to the point that I have taken them for granted. Thank you for your comments and helping me realize what is out there.
Oh my glory stars... i was bawling!! That was beyond anything I could ever compare... it was so close to perfect, it scared me. 😅❤ Absolutely fantastic, stunning, extraordinary and remarkable wrapped in one. Glorious!❤❤❤ Thank you.
As a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints I grew up listening to this choir and I can tell you that I can understand what you described and it's beautiful to feel the Spirit of God and be inspired by this wonderful choir the strives to praise Lord 😇
No idea who you are and this is my first time finding this channel. I just have to say that once the Spirit has touched you, you'll never be the same. This is exactly what has happened from your reactions my brother. God bless!
The power you felt was the Holy Ghost testifying to you through their music that your Father in Heaven and Jesus Christ love you deeply! ❤It’s a very intense, beautiful and powerful feeling! They sing like angels! 😇 In person they are MIND BLOWING! Seriously!
Ive just gone back to church after 16yrs. Seeing you watching this beautiful choir has touched my soul. The spirit of our lord touched your soul god bless 🙏
My friend, the feelings you feel here come from the Spirit of our Great God. Please remember this feeling and return often when you need respite from the world!
I saw them perform this live and it was soul piercing. You could feel the spirit SO strongly and just felt peace pierce your heart and make it swell with happiness and love at the same time. Absolutely beautiful.
FYI - The choir is an all volunteer ensemble. I've been a fan all my life. You must hear their Grammy award-winning "Battle Hymn of the Republic" which has become a standard for them at every concert. Also, check out the tender "Slow Down" where they sang backup for the Norwegian singer Sissel. Love your reactions.
Charlie, you spoke extremely well of what all this is about. As a 67 year old Christian mystic and seer, I can tell and promise anyone, that the beauty of GOD's truth in great sacred music, DONE TO PERFECTION, is so immense, that it is far far beyond our comprehension in this realm and reality.
My son is a member of the choir. Last March, he invited me to sing with the choir at one of their Thursday evening rehearsals. What a thrill it was to see what goes on from that perspective.
That's wonderful! Several years ago I got the opportunity to take the "behind the scenes tour" as well. It was thrilling. Then I sat in for a little bit with the ladies of the choir, sang a verse, took my picture... and they were all so kind. I love watching it now and seeing my "friends." :)
I have never seen your channel, Charlie, but your video came into my feed because I am a member kf The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, and this video of Come thou Fount is my absolute #1 favorite of all choir songs. Like you, it just grabs me and shakes me all over until I am crying from pure joy in hearing something so grand and powerful. I am glad you enjoyed it. Thanks for watching and reviewing! It was a good start to my day.
There is a lot of very unique aspects of this choir. With 360 singers and 110 strong orchestra, it is one of the largest active choirs in the world. The application process is very rigorous with the majority of applicants declined. It is additionally the oldest choir in America and one of the oldest in the world being established in 1847. It is 100% volunteer based for the 470 members and the time commitment is massive. I have had the privilege of knowing many of the singers and attending many of their live events where the music pierces you to the soul. I'm glad you were able to review it!
And that is what I love about music that last Through the Ages. No matter your religion or no matter that you have no religion and don't believe in it, the music touches the soul.
Absolutely. I loved being part of a few epic choirs in high school that were regularly overwhelmed by the emotion from similar music. Especially exhilarating when we had the opportunity to visit some cathedrals and sing Eric Whitacre or Ola Gjeilo
@@anonthehousemouse It’s really not. It’s a small factor, but if you took away the music with its dissonance, chords, dynamics, and flow, there’s no chance the same kind of chemical sensations occur. Conversely, if you listen to this music with no lyrics, out if you listen to Eric Whitacre’s Lux Arumque, or Ola Gjeilo’s Northern Lights, you can have the same experience when no religious context is present. Religions are well known for misattributing the effect of music as evidence of a deity by creating religious music to conflate the two.
I agree with a lot of people on here - whatever your beliefs, if you love music this much you really need to hear them live someday. It’s amazing with headphones… but live is… indescribable. Especially in the Conference Center where they’re singing in that second video. It was designed with sound in mind and it is amazing.
✨💛✨💛✨💛✨💛 Years ago we visited Utah (from Tasmania AUS 🇦🇺) & were blessed to see the choir sing. As we walked in they were singing “Consider the Lilys “ I thought I’d died & gone to heaven… those voices 🎶 the tears fell. Thankyou Charlie for sharing on your channel. 💛✨💛✨💛✨💛
I've never been moved by watching someone else's reaction to music, but your video did it for me. These were two absolutely wonderful pieces of music, but it was your responses that were so genuine, that this truly moved me. Thanks for sharing this, man!
"Come Thou Fount" is one of my very favorite hymns. The lyrics are so rich. "Tune my heart to sing Thy grace" should be a daily prayer for believers. Such a beautiful word picture. A beautiful hymn. I wonder how many know the meaning behind "Here I raise my Ebenezer".....
I’m a professional musician and a member of the church - all the music work I do within the church is voluntary, no pay, and I can tell you my life has been filled with sublime musical experiences like this. The tabernacle choir and orchestra are in an incredible moment right now - the director, Mack Wilberg, has really reached the pinnacle of his ability with the music he has been writing for the choir. Every week Music & the Spoken Word has been phenomenal lately. I would even say the video you watched is a bit dated, the choir and orchestra only have gotten better, so I’d check out the livestream of current Music & the Spoken Word if you want to see where they are currently. Comes out every Sunday.
Charlie. I saw this video of you experiencing the Tabernacle Choir at 2AM in the morning while I myself was looking for peaceful sleep. I often listen to this choir for that exact purpose. I I experienced so much more last night watching YOUR reaction to these beloved musicians! I have since watched it over and over! Shared it with everyone I can think of so they can witness, by watching YOU, what music does to the soul. My niece sings with this amazing choir and I have asked her to share your video with the man who composed and orchestrated this piece for the choir. His name is Mack Wilberg. Some of his arrangements are from a spiritual realm that you got to experience! I hope if you ever get a chance to go and see their rehearsal which is free to the public you will let me know. I will try to get my niece to introduce you to THE CHOIR!! ❤
Go see it in person. You will love the vibrations of the organ by itself and the choir by itself. The whole building holds the sounds for several seconds after the last note. And it’s free!
This is greatness, this choir is one the best musical experience any one can wish. Every time they have their Christmas holiday concert I'm for it.Thank you pay pal guy and Charlie of course!!
Thank you for sharing your sacred experience with me. I was reminded that feeling the Holy Ghost is like a huge hug and that music can open our hearts to hear Him and feel His love for us in a deep personal way. He is so aware of each one of us and the words of His gospel speak peace to our souls in the most profound ways. Please come to hear the choir in person. What a blessing it would be. ♥️
One night i was feeling awful, i decided to listen to this choir(the specific hymns were How Firm A Foundation, and The Spirti of God Like A Fire Is Burning) i have never felt such peace.
I loved watching your eyes fill with tears🤩 God bless you brother, from a grandmother in central Utah💞 with most of my ancestry from the British Isles, I could not help but subscribe to your channel❣️
Thanks for reacting to these beautiful songs sung by a wonderful choir. It was a good unintentional reminder that General Conference is happening soon, so I'm also excited now! 😊
It's already pinned 😉
Ohhhh this comment just earned a pin. Thank you for it Sir. I'm glad my video blessed you in some way. You all blessed me
I had the incredible opportunity to see the performance in Atlanta. Simply said it was awe inspiring, beautiful and uplifting!
Love this!

I’ve grown up around this my entire life. I never realized just how special it would be to someone who has never heard them before.
Same!
I realized how spoiled I am when he shared his reaction.
I agree. I get to sing in a choir as large as this, so I’m not in the audience. I forget what being on the listening side of the performance can be like. I must agree, a collective performance like this is one of the greatest things humans can do ❤

Watching the Spirit touch someone live while watching them on TH-cam was such a powerful experience to me and only strengthened my testimony.
I'm 71 now. I've listened to them my whole life. Now when they sing hymns, I weep for the gentle joy they bring to my heart.
My absolute favorite.❤
Thank you for loving God so much you can’t sing. I have this problem on Sunday. If this music is in heaven I can’t wait to get there.
I heard from some missionaries who were in attendance in Georgia and that performance CHANGED them. Along with many investigators. 🙏🏻
Thank you for what you do!! You have an amazing talent! This arrangement of Come Thou Font brings me to tears.

Amazing!
Just subscribed. Utah here I come.
Their Sunday morning live performances are phenomenal. …even more stunning in person. tab choir groupie righ’ here
Thank you Brother for your hard work and dedication.
That's a mighty organ. You must be very proud.
This young man needs a VIP invitation to see the choir live.
Options [edit: for coming in person, though there are ways to watch or listen live as well, like probably here on TH-cam, though in person is its own experience]:
Come to the tabernacle on Temple Square in Salt Lake City, Utah at 9:30 AM on a Sunday and listen to their Music and the Spoken Word broadcast! (just come!)
If it's the first Sunday of April or October, come to the Conference Center (same downtown area) either that Saturday (10 AM, 2 PM, 6 PM) or Sunday (10 AM, 2 PM) for a 2-hour conference with musical numbers between every three or so talks/sermons. (need a free ticket)
The first Sunday of December at 6 PM in the Conference Center is the Christmas devotional--I think there's a higher music:talks ratio and it's shorter than General Conference. (need a free ticket)
The choir also goes on tour and puts that and other info on their website and social media.

I’m British, but my American daughter-in-law is in this choir. Proud MIL 😊
That is awesome!
Awesome! Is she in this video?
That is SO AMAZING! I think there is a movie or video that shows what is required to join this beautiful choir....its pretty intense.
I see you Proud MIL~! It WAS amazing❤😊❤
I do not know how anyone can not feel how much they are loved by God and Jesus Christ after listening to this beautiful choir.
I'm a member in the eastern states. They played in Nashville one year and that's the only time I've seen them live but I was crying buckets when they sang one of my favorite church songs....All is Well
US President Ronald Reagan lovingly began the tradition of calling this group "America's Choir." As an American, I could not be more proud
I was coming here to say the same! They are still America's choir in my mind!
Thank you.

You’re so right! We do take the Choir for granted, and we need to be more grateful for the wonderful gifts we get to enjoy
I was just thinking the same thing! I've been there I've listened to them on Sunday morning in person. That said, it can still move me especially when I'm really "listening" if you know what I mean.
My thoughts exactly!
What you just experienced wasn't just music; it was Jesus, my brother. That was a hymn praising the eternal God.
My husband is a member of this awesome Choir. He sacrifices a lot of time and gas money being a volunteer, but when I see people embrace what they are doing and feel the love, it makes it all worth it. ❤
Brother, if you are ever in Utah, you can go see them sing for free on Sunday mornings while they record “Music and the Spoken Word”.
Hello my friend! I love Mack Wilberg arrangements, got to sing this one and a couple more in college. He's a legend and still directing! Fantastic ☺️

No one blames you for tearing up listening to Come Thou Fount.... It is the greatest, EVER! Especially by the Tabernacle Choir.
I'm glad it's been added back to the Hymnal
I am so glad the Spirit was able to touch your heart and let you know how much Heavenly Father loves you!

It's amazing to be able to hear each word clearly from 360 people at once.
Despite what anyone says about the Mormon church, their choir will make you feel things you never thought possible. They sing on a Godly vibration ❤🎶
“By their fruits…..”
A member I know told his foundering son:
“If following the teachings of the Church helps you become a better person, I suggest you continue going and living it, and continue studying the Savior in both the Bible and the Book of Mormon. Put it to the test and let me know how you feel in a year. If they haven’t, then don’t.”

Visiting the Temple is just as glorious ! The church is filled with with the spirit of God!
The Counterfeiter is a master at making things as close as possible to the Truth. Do not be deceived, Mormons need to repent and come to Jesus, the true Savior. Praying for them finding the True Living Hope, Jesus son of the Living God.
@@EmilGhiurau Latter-day Saints already believe in Jesus as the Son God, the Savior of the world.
If you're curious about why the name changed:
The name change is a fairly recent thing and part of a church-wide push to hold with our church's official name, the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, rather than with any shortening.
@@lauraa5032I believe it is the oldest running show also
@@gladec3896 Yep! Longest running, non-news show on TV and radio.

Kinda sorry for anyone who got duped.
This is why they are the greatest choir in the world.
Lots more.

That song really gets you the first time. And the second time. And the hundredth time.
❤
You have just had a spiritual experience listening to the Tabernacle Choir.
YES!!! The power of God is there! He was feeling the Holy Ghost testify to him! You cannot help but tear up! It’s a powerful feeling through your whole being! ❤
Dang. I felt the spirit as I watched him feel the spirit.
I was, too! This song resonates with my soul.
❤❤❤
As a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints I grew up listening to this choir and I can tell you that I can understand what you described and it's beautiful to feel the Spirit of God and be inspired by this wonderful choir the strives to praise Lord 😇
I firmly believe that music speaks to our souls. Glad u enjoy it.❤
This choir makes audiences cry in every country, in every language. Great music across the ages has power.
The sweet tears, the trembling hands. Brother you were touched by the Spirit of God. You felt his love for you. How beautiful! ❤
With so many terrible things happening in the world, it is so uplifting to hear this amazing music, thank you for sharing on your channel
No idea who you are and this is my first time finding this channel. I just have to say that once the Spirit has touched you, you'll never be the same. This is exactly what has happened from your reactions my brother. God bless!
Perfectly said ❤ I feel the same way. About 5 years ago Jesus left the 99 to find me. My life has forever changed. I am so blessed 😇
This was heavenly. I felt a spirit of peace, and the singing of An Angelic choir. God has a hand in this! I must find out more!
Please please do ❤❤❤❤
I’m tearing up listening to them sing. It MOVES the soul. Wow!
The amazing thing about the Tabernacle Choir is that even with all those voices, you can still understand every word!
My favorite part!
That is because Mack is a stickler for both diction and rhythm, the latter making a huge difference.
The power you felt was the Holy Ghost testifying to you through their music that your Father in Heaven and Jesus Christ love you deeply! ❤It’s a very intense, beautiful and powerful feeling! They sing like angels! 😇 In person they are MIND BLOWING! Seriously!
Amen
Absolutely correct. Follow your heart.
I thought it was Joseph Smith.....
@@ottomatic7823 Thought what was Joseph Smith?
@@ottomatic7823Lol Mormons don't worship Joseph Smith. They worship Jesus like basically every other Christian denomination on the planet. 🤷
Ive just gone back to church after 16yrs. Seeing you watching this beautiful choir has touched my soul. The spirit of our lord touched your soul god bless 🙏
I LOVE the tabernacle choir!!!!!! “Consider the lilies” is one of my favorites by them 💗💕💗💕💗
100% agree! That is my all time favorite!
Hearing the Tabernacle Choir always makes me feel so emotional. It's wonderful. ❤
That choir has always been a part of my life. They are amazing. Christmas is especially beautiful.
I still on occasion listen to the "O Holy Night" that they did in December, 2021. It is, for lack of a far greater word, beautiful.
My friend, the feelings you feel here come from the Spirit of our Great God. Please remember this feeling and return often when you need respite from the world!
Amen.. we all need a little more Tabernacle Choir in our lives.
Good point
I saw them perform this live and it was soul piercing. You could feel the spirit SO strongly and just felt peace pierce your heart and make it swell with happiness and love at the same time. Absolutely beautiful.
FYI - The choir is an all volunteer ensemble. I've been a fan all my life. You must hear their Grammy award-winning "Battle Hymn of the Republic" which has become a standard for them at every concert. Also, check out the tender "Slow Down" where they sang backup for the Norwegian singer Sissel. Love your reactions.
I saw them sing with Sissel live and it was INCREDIBLE!! I felt like I was IN Heaven!!
Oh I love their Battle hymn of the Republic! 🥰
Their version of Battle Hymn of the Republic is an amazing piece of music... almost as great as Come Thou Fount of Every Blessing.
Beautiful. The Spirit of the Lord works is surprising ways. I was touched and brought to tears as well. Thank you for allowing me to feel that.

The Tabernacle choir is nicknamed America’s choir. The spirit is with them. It’s hard not to feel it.
As an atheist I can appreciate that religions have given us some of our best music. Universally moving music.
It's all about the message within the music.
I love that you can appreciate it, religious or not. no matter what you believe, it really is something else.
I’m crying with you brother 💯
I agree with a lot of people on here - whatever your beliefs, if you love music this much you really need to hear them live someday. It’s amazing with headphones… but live is… indescribable. Especially in the Conference Center where they’re singing in that second video. It was designed with sound in mind and it is amazing.
✨💛✨💛✨💛✨💛
Years ago we visited Utah (from Tasmania AUS 🇦🇺) & were blessed to see the choir sing. As we walked in they were singing “Consider the Lilys “ I thought I’d died & gone to heaven… those voices 🎶 the tears fell.
Thankyou Charlie for sharing on your channel. 💛✨💛✨💛✨💛
So glad you found our choir. Its everything your heart loves and needs. I cried right along with you..❤
I've never been moved by watching someone else's reaction to music, but your video did it for me. These were two absolutely wonderful pieces of music, but it was your responses that were so genuine, that this truly moved me. Thanks for sharing this, man!
This really means a lot. Thank you
The Choir and Temple Square is a national treasure
I love a guy who can give a full honest reaction. Thank you for not hiding your emotions. I felt it with you
Imagine experiencing it in person. Takes you to another realm. 😊
Very true. I used to work at Temple Square and would sit in the seats from time to time by myself and listen to them rehearse. It was very emotional.
The choir, musicians, and everyone involved are Celestial.
Goodness I love music and how it’s pure and real. Makes life so worth living.
Thank you, I will search out their Christmas recording on YT. E❤
I'm a member of the church and I'm moved too when I hear the music every first weekend of April and October.
I loved watching your eyes fill with tears🤩
God bless you brother, from a grandmother in central Utah💞
with most of my ancestry from the British Isles, I could not help but subscribe to your channel❣️
