Here are some universally accepted words of Christ; words that each of you have read and must believe and of course accept at face value. Matthew 16:27-28 (some of His disciples there with him on that day will still be alive and witness His second coming. Here is what Jesus said to Joseph Caiaphas and the Sanhedrin; Matthew 26:64. Peter knew when the second coming was (and so did Joseph Smith). Peter declared it perfectly and succinctly in 1 Peter 4:7. Joseph Smith had to correct verse 6 and verse 8 due to the perversion of 1611, but Joseph did not change verse 7, because it was and still is perfect in its translation and meaning. Revelations 1:1 Why would John say “must shortly come to pass” about an event over 2100 years in the future? Revelations 1:3 Why would John say “for the time is at hand” about an event that is over 2100 years in the future? Revelations 1:7 Why would John say “every eye shall see Him, and they also which pieced Him”.? Today the Sanhedrin is long dead and the Roman Empire no longer exists. (They are they which pierced Him). No one else. Revelations 2:25 Why would Jesus encourage the faithful church at Thyratira to “hold fast till He comes”.? Revelations 3: Why did Jesus tell the Saints in Sardis that “no man knows the day or the hour” when He comes? Why didn’t He say no man knows the decade or the century or the millenium…? Why did Jesus double down when He warned the Saints in Philadelphia “Behold, I come quickly”.? Is “quickly” over 2100 years? Even if you are a hardcore dispensationalist, 2100 years cannot be considered quickly. Why did the tour guide angel of Revelations 10 declare that “there should be time no longer” before the second coming and the millennial reign? Why in Revelations 22:12 did Jesus declare “behold, I come quickly”.? Simple questions from a simple man. I definitely believe the words of Jesus on the matter. I definitely believe the words of Joseph Smith on the matter. I definitely believe we are living in the last days. I definitely believe that Christ is coming again. I’m just finding it hard to believe that Jesus and Joseph got it wrong. Perhaps the dark ages weren’t as dark as Satan’s history books say they were. I believe Jesus and Joseph got it right and told us the truth. We are living in the little season… the true last days.

By doing so, we can confidently face the future, knowing that the Lord’s promises will be fulfilled according to His divine plan. The term "latter days" in our belief is not just a vague future reference but signals the period when God's gospel is fully restored, as prophesied in both the Bible and modern revelation (Isaiah 2:2-3, Acts 3:21). We see the Restoration through Joseph Smith as part of that fulfillment, preparing the world for the return of the Savior.
While some have made predictions in the past, we focus on preparing spiritually through following Christ's teachings, repenting, and making sacred covenants. We don't claim to know exactly when Christ will return, but we are encouraged to live our lives in such a way that we are ready whenever that day comes (Matthew 25:13).
I respect your perspective on idioms, but in our view, the latter days represent more than just a figure of speech. It is a time of great spiritual significance, marked by the restoration of God's truths, priesthood authority, and the gathering of Israel, as mentioned throughout the scriptures.
