    The biggest problem with 3.6 is the DRY STARTS. No check valve to stop oil from being drained back into oil pan. Thus upon start up oil is absent in cam housings and this is why the famous “ticking” occurs on all engines eventually due to worn rocker bearings and pins. Way to go Chrysler.

    I have read that the Dorman replacement is failing due to not sealing properly with the O-ring gaskets, thus causing oil and coolant leaks. From what I read, this happens more quickly than what the OE units were failing at.

    Good luck getting the aluminum one its on back order with no ETA on when it will be available again. So your stuck with the crappy plastic one that can potentially fail again. Just figured I would let people know not to waste their time in putting in a order for the aluminum one. So awesome this should have been a recall.

      The aluminum one will still fail eventually. It's a bad design no matter what it's made of. My buddy works at a Jeep dealership and has replaced 3 aluminum ones back to OEM in the past 12 months.

      @@savage101. That should be considered some kind of recall or bulletin if it's that big of an issue. They redesigned the upper coolant lines on the 2015 because the plastic connector was prone to cracking. This should be equally as important.

    You can't get the dorman one right now you can get knockoff aluminum ones how are those? Hope they are made right if there's defects in the aluminum on the inside a piece brakes off it could cause catastrophic engine failure. If there ever was a design flaw in the 3.6l pentastar engine it's this. I don't know how there isn't a recall. The cheap knockoff plastic ones fail rather quickly and the aftermarket metal ones your running a risk of seriously damaging your block if the fit isn't perfect. The dealer oem mopar part runs 300 to 500 online / locally it's probably the longest lasting replacement part first I would do is replace the seals to get is serviced it isn't cheap your looking at average maybe $1500 in parts and labor. Common problem if it looks like you have oil leak.

  • @mramsay6943

      No, only fits '14 to current.
      [EDIT: additional information, you need the 2014 and later cooler component removed from a 2014 and later OEM assembly. The cooler component is installed on the Dorman component. The 2013 and earlier cooler is different.]

      @rmproute66 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Dorman now has a 926-959 part number that also includes a new oil cooler and oil filter with cap. The only thing that you will need to transfer to the new housing are the 2 sensors that are connected to the wiring harness. The only thing to keep in mind is that you will need to use the 2014 and newer oil filter on future oil changes.

    • @hexoden5027

      You can install it on a 2013 Wrangler BUT you must use an oil filter from the 2nd Gen 2014-2018 JKs

    Guys just my 2 cents I have 2 2015 Chrysler 200C AWD with the 3.6 I ran a test and it seems that its working, believe it or not, I remove the huge beauty = noise cover on top of the engine on one and left it one the other one since I purchased both cars in 2017 as lease returns, the day I purchased both at the same dealer, they had to replace the both coolers because obviously both were leaking already ANYWAY to make the long story short, both cars are driven more than les the same around 10K miles a year my daughters are using them, the car WITHOUT the beauty cover had it replaced only ONCE when I purchased the cars, the other one with the cover 3 times in TOTAL so, I have a theory that that FRICKING huge beauty cover with all the noise reduction foam is not letting the heat dissipate, it just cooks everything there under it... I just decided to remove the second one. Thank GOD! I purchased the lifetime warranty on both... spread the word REMOVE THE BEAUTY COVERS ON ALL 3.6 PENTSTAR ENGINES! bunch of dumb FCA engineers

      Chrysler screwed me out of my Lifetime Warranty that I purchased as they failed to include the conditions for continued coverage in the warranty manual. Thousands of people were screwed over by Chrysler the same way. You better research the none existent small print before they cancel yours too. Chrysler knew they didn't inform buyers of the conditions when they sold the warranties. They told me if I didn't like it, I could sue them in court.

      @@TheMELTDOWN911 I bought a new Jeep in October 2007 with lifetime powertrain and added the additional lifetime service contract. The dealer told me to bring the Jeep in at the 5 year mark for an inspection which I did. They didn't mention that it had to be done every 5 years so it was missed in 2017. Nothing was included in any written form about inspections. Chrysler knew they didn't include it. Even though it was their error they refused to honor both the powertrain warranty and the warranty I purchased . I had full maintenance records going back to day 1 for the Jeep as was required by the info in the warranty manual. Fought with them for over 4 years and they just said "If you don't like it then sue us in court". At the 15 year point I had the dealer do the inspection Chrysler requires. Turns out it was just checking oil and coolant levels. WHAT A JOKE! Point being that if you have anything in writing with Chrysler it's subject to their whims. Even the dealers in my area admitted to the scam but would do nothing to advocate for me out of fear of losing their franchise.
