Since the meat slices are usually very thin when eating hot pot. When the soup is boiling, you only need to put in the beef for 10-15 seconds, pork for 20-30 seconds, vegetables for around 3 minutes. If you order chicken, they usually come in chunks. You might throw them in the pot and let it boil for around 3 minutes. And use that big metal spoon thing with holes more often to fish out the lost items. Hope you guys will enjoy hot pot even more next time. Also, the reason they put in sesame oil in the condiment is because the sesame oil can neutralize some of the spice so you can eat more.

I'm glad you made a brave attempt. Here is a little tip. After touching raw meat with chopsticks, it is best to put it in the pot and cook it for a few seconds before using chopsticks. All locals do this to avoid diarrhea. Or you can ask the restaurant for an extra pair of chopsticks dedicated to raw meat.
In fact, you are usually given a metal clip or a pair of extraordinarily long chopsticks when eating hot pot. These are used to put raw meat into the pan.
China has thousands of delicious foods to choose from. A foreign friend once said he wanted to eat all the Chinese cuisine and make a video, but two years have passed and he hasn't left Sichuan Province yet
Apart from meat slices & bamboo, you may consider tofu block, tofu strip, tofu roll, pork/fish ball, Chinese cabbage, bokchoy, potato slice, lotus, corn, woodear mushroom, mushroom & noodles. If you are feeling adventurous, go for various offals like intestines, livers, stripes, etc.
This tofu bag is called a lucky bag in China, and the Chinese characters on it represent blessing luck(福). It's not offal inside, it's pork stuffing. Hope you enjoy your trip in China. Finally, I've seen a blogger who used the right dipping sauce for their first hot pot experience. You guys are awesome. I've seen many other foreign bloggers eat directly from the spicy pot on their first try, and that can be extremely spicy. The correct way is to dip the food in the sauce after taking it out of the spicy pot. That's the proper and delicious way to enjoy it.BTW, the tomato pot doesn't need this step.
the bottle of tea you guys drunk when you were eating the hotpot,it's a traditional cold tea in china, and it's a partner with the spicy hotpot. the spicy could burn your stomach, and the tea could let it cool down

A big step for you guys! Well done! I never tried Hotpot in Sichuan as a Chinese so thank for sharing! Actually there's many hotpot restaurant in both Ireland and England, but the price is almost 5 times or so for two people ordering the same things... Tried once at Leicester Square in London and once in Dublin, but the flavour is definitely not authentic. Btw, the waitress is helpful!
26:43 Yeah vegetables are generally very tasty in hotpots.as a local Chinese I really (seriously)wanna invite you to a hot pot meal especially after watching this video. hotpot is almost my favorite cuisine for so long.
Next time when you do hotpot, order a meat combo and a veg combo which basically include everything. Remember the name of the ones you specially like and order more next time. You can also try mushroom combo if you like. Don't need to order spicy soup base. Just tomato or other non spicy is good. As others already mentioned, dip thin meat in the soup for 10 seconds. Vegetable can be cooked a little longer like 5 minutes. The better way to eat hotpot is to have more people, You can order a lot of varieties. Everybody can try everything. Very fun.
8:40 oops…the one in the tomato soup was fried egg, u shoud wait till it sucks as much soup as possible and try it, which u may like very much! also the beef we place on the plate vertically mens the beef is really fresh! realy happy u guys enjoy ur meal!
Actually, we put a little bit of everything at one time, meat, lotus, bamboo, tofu, meatballs, stomach... we wait them to be cooked and take them into the dipping sauce. Then we add something else into the pot. It's also good to add some broth into the dipping sauce(use the two spoons, filter spoon upon another to get clear soup)
Fortunately, you chose a yuan yang pot, so the spiciness won't be too overwhelming right away. You should wait until all the base ingredients you see have completely melted and the pot starts boiling before you begin eating. Different foods require different cooking times. For example, thinly sliced meats cook quickly. You can use chopsticks to hold the meat in the broth for a short time, and once the redness disappears, you can take it out to eat. Cooking it for too long will make it tough and not as tasty. Visibly, you both look much more relaxed than when you first arrived. Your smiles are radiant. Thank you for visiting China.

Tofu, taro and lotus root are also good for hotpot, fish ball & meat ball are good too, and you don’t have to cook(boil) them for too long, a minute for tofu, a few minutes for taro and over 5 minutes for the lotus roots, fish balls and meat balls. Notice the hotpot is fashioned in the Yin and Yang symbol. One side hot and one side cool and in balance. You need to put more ingredients into the broth so the juices of the ingredients makes the broth more rich and flavorful.
You need to put a portion of your uncooked food into either other sauces and then you check it to see if it’s cooked to your liking, then you take it out dip and eat, obviously ensuring that it’s not too hot to eat. They add sauce when ever it’s somewhat used up
Come to Guangdong Providence next time! The food and culture are also marvellous! You can try Cantonese morning tea! Looking forward to seeing you in Guangdong. Enjoy your trips!
Hi, It seems wonderful hotpot experience with Si-Chuan taste (Ma-La). Chopstick operation is base on "lever principle", so if you pick the sticks at their higher part , such as over 7 of 10. You can hold food more tight. Next thing want to remind you guys, just leave meats (except beef, medium or meidum well is Okay to keep tender) into the hot-pot to cook throughly and then pick up . Enjoy your trip there.
If you don't understand Chinese, you can try chuanchuan.Chinese character is串串,is like a stick and then it has two little Squiares on it,it's similar to hotpot, but with smaller portions and a direct view of the dishes. You can try a wider variety.if you going to chongqing next, you can try chuanchuan串串
This traditonal hotpot is absolutely one of my favorite food on the planet, btw Chongqing is a mustgo distination in west-south China. Looking forward to you exploring more cities in China. ❤❤❤
Damn you guys are the first foreigners I saw having the “right” dipping sauce among all the videos 😂😂 the sesame oil helps cooling down the meat (like oil quenching) and reliefs the spiciness
The sesame oil is supposed to cool down the meat from the boiled pot, and the garlic and soy source and pepper to empower some flavor on it. so you need to apply all of it into small bowl. And be patient, Chinese people normally have hotpot with best friends or family, so everybody keeps busy with the food and interactions with others instead of swiping cellphones
I just forgot to say that you must go to the panda base. It is very convenient to go there from Chunxi Road. I especially want to see your video at the panda base.
Very glad this restaurant provided you the traditional flavor dipping sauce, although many things in China are brand-new to you, you guys still tried many classic local flavor, really found some luck in your trip. Wish you good luck on all your trips!❤❤
There are various hot pots in different parts of China, such as Sichuan hot pot, Beijing lamb pot, Chaoshan beef pot. I think the vegetables in Sichuan hot pot are the most spicy, will absorb a lot of spicy oil, if too spicy, rinse with water, it will be much better.
You guys already have pretty good chopstick skills. For better result, hold the relatively upper part of the chopsticks, bit higher than the middle, maybe 2/3. 😊
Lovely couple, your attempt is good, but for the use of chopsticks, you can hold the back end of the chopsticks with your hands so that you will not be troubled by the temperature. It would be better if socialization is strengthened and more details can be paid attention to. Of course, this is a very authentic foreigner travel. hehe.

很喜欢你们旅游的视频,中国有很多特色的饮食文化,我们通常去这些不熟悉的特色饮食场所需要先了解它的吃法和特色。餐厅里最好有很多桌客人以便我们学习和点菜🙂
I love spicy food. This makes me crave a hotpot. Excellent video!!
This is a good restaurant. Glad you like the food. Try some other things than pork and beef next time.
❤️
希望你们在中国一切顺利,玩得开心,也欢迎去更多地方体验中国,你们会发现更多惊喜,还有可以买个翻译机🤣
The "Jianghao Hotpot" in Chongqing is the most authentic, and their beef tongue is especially delicious.
They add sauce when ever it’s somewhat used up
Also, you must eat bamboo shoots when visiting Sichuan. Bamboo shoots cost 10-15 euros each in Europe. Lotus roots and bamboo shoots are both must-try
Come to Guangdong Providence next time! The food and culture are also marvellous! You can try Cantonese morning tea! Looking forward to seeing you in Guangdong. Enjoy your trips!
Recommend trying Hai Di Lao Hot pot. That’s more suitable for beginners to try ☺️☺️And that’s a chain brand.it’s easy to find 🎉
Hello from Saigon Vietnam !
❤️🇻🇳🇻🇳🇻🇳🇻🇳🇻🇳
中越友誼萬歲。
Mushroom, lotus roots, tofu (any kind), sweet potato noodles, veggies all go well with the hot pot. You were doing great in embracing the new.
Next time , you could dip more dipping sauce , it helps reducing soicy . And bamboo shoot , cook more time
If you don't understand Chinese, you can try chuanchuan.Chinese character is串串,is like a stick and then it has two little Squiares on it,it's similar to hotpot, but with smaller portions and a direct view of the dishes. You can try a wider variety.if you going to chongqing next, you can try chuanchuan串串
that is the right iced tea for hot pot❤
The herbal tea was so nice to be pair with such spicy delicious hotpot...my own opinion....❤
Chengdu's hoof flower and sweet-skinned duck are also very famous. I recommend you to try it.
This traditonal hotpot is absolutely one of my favorite food on the planet, btw Chongqing is a mustgo distination in west-south China. Looking forward to you exploring more cities in China. ❤❤❤
You can always add more like noodle, tofu skin, fish ball, and veggies. Ask for yogurt drink to tone down the spice.
Damn you guys are the first foreigners I saw having the “right” dipping sauce among all the videos 😂😂 the sesame oil helps cooling down the meat (like oil quenching) and reliefs the spiciness
❤️❤️❤️
Tofu lucky bag/pouch. The filling can be veggies, seafoods, or meat mince.
You two made me so hungry by watching the video 😭
❤️
You can choose potatoes and sweet potato spaghetti ,and you can also order dessert: brown sugar glutinous rice cake红糖糍粑
cool herb tea for hot pot too
it is black fungus in the tofu package、 and 福🧧 means blessing
wood ear mushrooms
I couldn’t see
What is inside of the parcel, but it should be mushroom or other vegetables, it usually comes with shrimp paste or fish paste.
Hey, if next time I am back in china and you guys are still there, I would love to take you to eat some great local food.
You guys already have pretty good chopstick skills. For better result, hold the relatively upper part of the chopsticks, bit higher than the middle, maybe 2/3. 😊
Thank you ❤️❤️❤️
Lovely couple, your attempt is good, but for the use of chopsticks, you can hold the back end of the chopsticks with your hands so that you will not be troubled by the temperature. It would be better if socialization is strengthened and more details can be paid attention to. Of course, this is a very authentic foreigner travel. hehe.
the traditional symbol on the dumpling above the meet vocanol is "福",which means lucky and happiness. You can see "福" in many things such as someone's door.
