As a local Chengduer I must say you've got some balls... In my whole life I've only ordered Te La once, and I almost died. It was so spicy that during the meal, we had to ask the waitress to take some chili peppers out of our pot...
I've tried mongolian hot pot .. the spiciest they had available in the resto (but in N.A.). It was a little too spicy. I really didn't enjoy it though it was edible. I guess some of it is acquired.

I just got back from Chengdu, I found the level of spiciness to be a bit overstated, even the spiciest options weren't all that bad. The numbing feeling is a bit different from what you get from the west though lol. Food is still great.

I was on a trip to Sichuan for 3 weeks as a kid. Had nothing but Sichuan food for the entire duration and the skin around my mouth was peeling off by the end of it. It's some intense stuff.
western tongue and asian tongue is in different level broh. asian food have more fragrant and strong flavour from spices and seasoning. western food usualy have mild season and more focus on the taste of ingredient not the seasoning

The restaurant staff eating in the middle of the restaurant says it all about the quality and spirit. Truly amazing. In Belgium, staff lunch is hidden, even at world top 20 'star' restaurants you see the staff eating homemade sandwiches in their car on the rainy parking lot while serving 400EUR per person menu's :/
Linkador I guess it’s more of a cultural thing. This behaviour will be viewed as unprofessional in certain environments, but praised in certain environments. This restaurant is quite down to the earth. Even in China, u won’t see staffs eating among costumers in a upscale restaurant.
staff don't eat with customers neither in china, not at the same time, customer time usually be 7pm - 21pm, so staff meal at 6pm or 22pm. not the same. of course, at 22pm, u can see staff and customers eating in same lobby.

Actually gastritis is most commonly caused by alcohol use, but if you already have gastritis very spicy foods, alcohol etc all make it more irritated. Other than if you’re already sick, spicy food is great for you
