That voice control would drive me insane. For that much money I'd want a simple aspect of the car like that to work.
Nobody uses voice control in real life and I've never been in a car where it works.
Very simple to switch it off in settings, there is a button on the steering wheel to activate it as and when you wish to use it.
@@gordonf1997 it does talk to you randomly every so often but I have a theory that it is because of the buttons on the steering wheel and hitting the voice button in error while driving. I don't use the voice commands. It would be like using Siri on your mobile. Completely pointless. My only gripe with the id4 interior is the window controls. You have to hold your finger on the 'rear' button for it to respond.
@@gordonf1997 the point hes making is it should work, switching it off is not really a very good solution.

I have driven an ID4 for the past 16 months and have had less false activations of the voice assistant in 16 months than Nobby had in this video. I really wonder if he was brushing the button on the steering wheel accidentally and activating it that way....

Hi Nobby ! Great review mate , just wondering on your thoughts on this id5 comparison to the ev6 from Kia ! I hear there’s a duel motor 325bhp version coming .
I think try drive both, the EV6 has more of a ‘coupe’ feel to it the way it handles I find, the ID5 feels like the bigger car, chunkier for sure.
Ordered my ID.4 a couple of days ago. While there's still a couple of months until I get it, I already know for sure, that I'm disabling that voice assistant.

The voice control works well when you actually want it to do something in my id3. You can disable the listening feature from the infotainment so that you press a button to have it listen to when you want it instead. But ya f*ck me it's annoying when it's constantly listening. For the money and how long speech recognition has been around it should really be dialled in my now. But I guess you could say same for vw and their software updates!

You sure you weren't taking the piss and pressing the button on the steering wheel to activate the voice control Nobby? I've had my ID4 for 16 months and voice control has activated in error less times in total in that time than in your video. You can in any case switch off voice activation in settings very easily. My ID5 GTX is due to be built the week after next, can't wait to get my hands on it.

It happens me once every few weeks but I also think it's the steering wheel causing it. With Nobby I think it might be picking him up saying ID. Its not a great system.
First thing I did in my ID was disable the voice assistant. Pain in the a$$!!
If I'd spent €70,000 on that (which I wouldn't!), I'd be straight back to the dealer and get him to disable that voice control. Bloody annoying as hell, and I was only watching your review. Imagine having to put up with that on a daily basis after forking out a huge sum of money. I think these EV's are being rushed to the market without all the bugs being ironed out. And they're far too expensive for mere mortals. Unless the price of them drop significantly, they are not going to make sufficient in-roads into the national car fleet. Yeah I know their percentage of overall sales are increasing but that includes hybrids, which in themselves have their own drawbacks. I still feel hydrogen power was the way to go.
No need to go to the dealer, you can switch off trigger words for voice control in settings and just press a button to activate it when you want to use it.
I don't think hydrogen is going to solve your problem with electric cars. Also, you can't get a EV for 18 months at the moment. Remember the price of everything has shot up. Including cars. A mid sized premium ICE EV isn't much cheaper to be honest.
Right now I drive a 2007 Toyota Auris but I'm gonna upgrade to the VW ID.5
don't do it. waittill they hopefully figure out the infotainment system with the ID7.
I like this vw but the Nissan Ariya is almost perfect
I’m not a fan of the SUV coupe style. I think the proportions of the bottom half and top half doesn’t look right.
The exterior is nice, but when you get into, it's just too much shiny plastic and makes it feel so cheap
Oh my goodness that voice control is so so annoying but are any voice control on any car any good. I was in the new Lexus NX and it was also useless but no way as irritating as this one. Way too expensive and terrible voice control…..is there no way to turn that voice control off completely?
Nobody uses voice control. It doesn't work on this car or any car for that matter.

Yes, I copped this too. Its a rubbish system but it does explain why it keeps talking back to him. It takes a while to react.
Considering the year round nature of our driving, a summer range of 400 is a realistic winter range of 300/320? For €70k? The economics make zero sense on the id5, it seems to be an inner city vanity purchase
Should get 350 in winter from that larger battery but depends on how much power is used by your foot I guess.

The ID.5 is a very different beast than the ID.4. They both have the same price tag, only the ID.5 has more tech and better efficiency.
What? you didnt check Nobby??
If you go to 'Build my VW' and build a 'like for like' spec between the Id 4 and 5 they are about the same price. Only about 1K between them, but the ID.5 is better looking and has more bells and whistles.
Really not sure what you’re on about. There’s a €15,000 price difference.

Infotainment system is a shocker and believe me I’ve suffered with one for a month.
You comment on every ID video on the internet and have a different story every time. First you owned a golf, then your friends had IDs. Now you had an ID for a month. I think your just trolling ID4 videos at this point.

@@bruts82 Again, youve been playing the same violin for over a year. VAG software works perfectly fine. When Volkswagen launched their new software in the First Edition ID4 and Golf mk8, it was buggy. A year later they had sorted it out. I also own a 2020 Audi along with a 2022 ID4 and the clock in the Audi resets every day. It has a few software bugs but it doesn't make it a bad car. Volkswagen made a big error launching the ID4 with software issues. The problem is, people like yourself are still going on about it after the issues were addressed. On the topic of the voice control. It isn't great but what car has a good voice control system today? The reason it keeps going off in the video is because he is repeating the word ID.

Vw already considering backlighting controls for next model and removing haptic buttons on steering wheel. That says it all about the current car

most dangerous and unsafe infotainment system on the road. for those of you who don't know what i am talking about, ask those who own an ID4 (like myself). same infotainmentsystem in the ID5. if you dont die in a car accident because of it, itmost def increases risk of a stroke if u have high blood pressure.

Heavy, big and ugly. Yes go sepend the 60,000 euros why don't you? No thanks. Just buy a 208e or Mini or Corsa. Makes sense.
They're selling and an ID is a great family car with kids. It has plenty of space for a mid sized EV. They're not ridiculously expensive when you compare to the price of a Polestar or Tesla.
But it looks like a bar of soap.
