One that I use all the time: The power button near the bottom left of the infotainment screen acts as a pause/play button for audio. This lets you pause audio at any time, even if whatever audio app isn't on the screen at the time. It's very useful when backing up and the screen is full of parking sensors and backup camera video.
Another one: Normally, the 12V power outlet in the trunk is only on when the vehicle is on. But, you can make it always on by moving the right fuse in the fuse box. The manual gives more information. But, you have to be careful not to drain the battery.
@@1yyymmmddd There are two slots in the fuse box for the 12V power outlet, but just one fuse. Out of the factory, the fuse is in the slot that gives the outlet power only when the vehicle is on. If you move it to the other slot, the outlet is always on.
Had a Bolt Premier under a three year lease that just ended. Leased the 2023 ID.4 and love it. It is by far more luxurious and safer-feeling (especially driving over the Golden Gate Bridge every day in the rain and wind!). Question: when I first got it, I was able to move my leg under the rear gate to open it when I had a grocery bags in both hands, but somehow it is not doing that after a couple of weeks. Do you know the steps to set that up?
Sometimes the sensor can get gunked up, you may have to just get under there and wipe it off. If that doesn’t work you may want to check in settings under vehicle and you can spin the car around to the trunk and it should say “Easy open” or something… make sure that’s turned on
I think you’re right. I always touch the indent on the door lock with my finger before walking away. Incidentally if it’s ever slow to respond, with the full palm of my hand and it works then.
Another helpful feature: Set the mirrors to fold when car is locked. Since the ID.4 doesn’t have a tone when locking/unlocking it’s nice to have a visual que to know the doors are locked.
Very nice video. Thanks. I’m wondering if you know how to set the keyless lock… i explain. Sometimes, when I press the little square on the handle, the doors wont lock. I know there is a trick to do with the remote to make it work again, but I can’t find it any more and I dont remember what it was. And on top of it, it won’t work again until I do that trick. Really annoying. It was something like double pressing, or holding button (or buttons) from the remote. Do you know?
Do you have any idea, what cousing the squcking like sound in and outside of the car. Sometimes, not always. It must be connected with the stop pedal. The sound is also hearable at nearing the car or unlocking it, when it is prepared to start driving, from park position. Any thoughts?
its because its new, so after some wear it would gradually reduce. The more you drive, you will know when to brake to avoid the sound. It happens often when you gently press on it. A firm press would avoid the sound. Other EV vehicles has this sound too.
Driving the car for 6 months now and so frustrated. By far the worst user experience I've ever had in a car. So many of these features are unintuitive or even hidden. All these touch features are so annoying because it's hard to use them while driving. The number of times I opened the rear window cause I accidentally touched the rear button for example. Or switching on the wrong lights. In short I wish I never bought the car.
How do you a lock and unlock audio feedback sound. I have the setting set for sound but nothing happens. Only indication it locked is mirror LED flash. Is there a way to stop the ID.4 from asking if it is me driving. This is annoying. It recognizes my phone, so it should know it is me.
I have 2 questions. I've had a 2021 and now a 2023. Whenever I hit the voice button to construct a text reply it doesn't work. It want you to press the screen instead to type a message. What's the point of having a voice feature if it won't construct a text message reply by voice? Am I missing something? AND on both models I've had there seems to be 2 internal clocks? I say this because when I get a new text message and ask the car to read new message, I can see on the screen the time that it came in, however when the voice actually reads the message, the time she says is different. For example I receive a text at 5:00 p.m. and see the time on the screen, but she says the text came in at 9:00 a.m. and I don't know if that means it's 8 hours behind or 16 gours ahead. Can you test it yourself and see if you're getting the same issue?
I will definitely be checking one out as soon as we get one. If they make the infotainment system function more efficiently like they say… I think it’ll be a great value
I still have my Bolt EUV! My lease is up in May so I’m trying to figure out what to do next! I work for the dealership so I cover VW, Chevy, Subaru, Hyundai and more! Plus all things EV on my Metz Tech channel
I have the 22, and I knew about all of those except the camera washer thingy, now I need to check if I have it in the 22. One more thing, the dom light is so stupid, it turns on every time I open or close my garage because my hand is getting close to it.
I have ID6 2023 but both of my screens are shatter. I have tried with pressing for 15sec and for minutes but not working. So how can I proceed to get my screens on?
If the window can't go back up automatically then the feature is useless. The one good thing, however, is at least the rear window goes down all the way.
Dynamic lighting? Don’t you guys have matrix lights in America? Dynamic lights were a thing 10 years ago. Everyone is getting matrix lights in Europe now
This car is a rolling computer glitch waiting to happen. Way too many options for every single electrical device! I’m surprised it doesn’t have speed control for the seat adjustment. this is what I call “option bombardment”. It’s ridiculous. When car makers put too many electrical controls on every single thing and then add grouping options on top of those controls, it is a sure bet that this is going to be one Buggy situation. At this point I’m craving more simple pleasures. Basic controls without all of that nonsense. Electric cars are generally more dependable than fossil wheel vehicles, but when you add all those unnecessary do-hickeys, I guess it’s the car makers way to make back all that money at the repair shop that they lose from the motor not breaking down.

Let's talk about these: the volume and temperature control "sliders," which are awful anyhow, are not illuminated at night. Seriously. There are only two buttons for four windows. You literally have to switch between the two. Seriously. I guess the VW engineers have never been in city traffic where you can't be futzing around with stuff like that. The "infotainment" system is absolutely, utterly, the most abysmal interface that has ever been foisted upon the American public. Again, ever been in city traffic, VW? In my experience with plenty of German software, Germans are the worst interface designers, only behind the Japanese. I own it, it's an incredible vehicle. However, they stopped at that and probably let the CEOs nephew design the user experience. Theres an entire profession called "usability experts." Had they hired one or two of these, this would be a great car.
If you have an ID car then you quickly get used to the switches just like you do in any car. As for needing four window switches in the driver's door: why? The cars all have excellent air conditioning and the car has preconditioning so you don't really need four switches. The number of times anybody needs to drop all four windows quickly is vanishingly small.
Nice tips....now here's a tip for you....next time you test a car drive somewhere that has a barber...tell him you want to leave the '80s ...short back & sides ..with a bit longer on the top...😅😅😅😊😅😅😅😅
pressing and holding the "close hatch" button also allows you to set the maximum height that it opens if you have a low garage door opening.

Nice one. Have you found a setting that enables auto lock doors when you walk away from the vehicle (ie reverse of auto unlock)?
Just set your thumb to the handle while having your key in your pocket. It will lock it
If you press and hold the “lock” indention on the driver door handle it will roll up all 4 windows. 👍
Also if you press and hold down the rear label on the driver door handle you can control all 4 windows to go up or down.
I bought an ID4 2 weeks ago from Bachman VW, and I have learned more about this vehicle from you than I have from the manual.
Glad I could help! Thanks for doing business!
In Europe you press the keyfob open button for a few seconds to open the 4 windows and the close button to close them again.
Good to find out about the dimming gesture on the dome lights.
I knew about all the rest. Can you make a video about the voice commands you can use?

very insightful ID.4 video. Greetings from VW of North Tampa!
Hi…do you know if there is a way to disable the touchscreen for cleaning? Great video…love the heated seats short cut!!
I sit in the front passenger seat to clean the Info screen, so the ignition doesn’t turn on?

Thanks so much for this. I just got a 2023 demo model and it did not come with a manual so I'm happy to learn about this stuff.
Not so sure that the vehicle auto-locks when walking away. I think you still have to manually lock it with the fob or handle press.
I think you’re right. I always touch the indent on the door lock with my finger before walking away. Incidentally if it’s ever slow to respond, with the full palm of my hand and it works then.
It’s cool and amazing that they were able to get Kurt Cobain of Nirvana to do this demo postmortem!

Try pressing the 'lock' button on the key fob, and within 5 seconds touch the lock sensor on the door handle.

Can passengers open the back doors from inside when you set your "Lock on approaching" to Single? On my ID.4 they can't :( Have to set to All Doors.

Personally, I'm hoping there's a fire sale on the glut of 2023 models in a few months. 🙂

What I miss most on my ID4 is ventilated seats. You simply cannot order it, at least here in Europe. It’s annoying.
I like my 2022 Pro S ID 4. However, it does not do some things all other VW’s do like remote lock and unlock…..
How to auto lock all doors after leaving the car??
My 2023 ID4 dash volume - + and heating sensor don't light up at night. Am I missing something?
Unfortunately, no. They fixed it for 2024
Ah. ☹️
Thanks for the reply.
Wish they at least put a manual release for the trunk on Pro.
I have an ID bus. But can't find change color and background. Doesn't all have that?
I’m not sure I’ve never been in one of those. Probably depends on the trim
How can I set the car to lock automatically when I walk away? Even the VW app does not let me lock the doors.
This, at least in Europe, Not possible. You have to touch the door handle.
If the window can't go back up automatically then the feature is useless. The one good thing, however, is at least the rear window goes down all the way.
How to keep a/c or heating on when driver leaves car?
Press the silver button below right of steering wheel
Those phone pockets are already in the 1st edition 2021 model
Correct.

Where's the spire tire location
It's stupid that the Pro doesn't have power lift gate. There's a lot of stupid things about the car actually that make no sense.
Pro is just the larger battery...you need the S package for the upgrades and convenience options
