    I think VW should implement on the ID lineup the CarKey protocol to have a digital key on your smartphone and smartwatch that works both with NFC and UWB

    Hi Chris, great video again! I think you mentioned you had the heater on low. To be fair do you normally switch AC and cabin heating off? By the way, the old E-Golf is not too shabby on your W/km table 😉

    • @BatteryLife

      AC is always off, unless it is too warm. I turn the heater off when warm.
      In this test I wanted the same conditions as the Id.4 had last year. But too cold.

    Nice video, ps. the avg. speed is lower becuase you need to calculate "harmonic medium" to get avg. Speed. Even if you drive 100 km, non-stop at the same speed, you can not apply the arithmetical medium formula.

    Congrat's to beeing the first to do a rangetest with the ID5.
    I drove the ID4 a couple of weeks ago and was amazed about driving experience, but it's too much of a "tank" to me. The ID5 looks so much better to me.
    Unfortunately VW does not offer adjustable recuperation via paddles like Hyundai or Kia.

    VW ID cars are still not very efficient, VW should really focus on this, especially for the 2023 restyling, heat pump with heat scavenging as standard + battery heating only when necessary + improvements to aerodynamics + lighter materials to reduce overall weight + more efficient powertrain and electronics optimisation.
    Gaining an 8% increase in efficiency would be very good!

      Not efficient? The result of this test is identical to the result of the Model Y, which currently is the industry leader in efficiency.

    • @BatteryLife
      @BatteryLife  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Id.4 in perfect conditions was 345km, Model Y 375km. Very close. ModelY also had a smaller battery. Id 5 should be a bit better than Id.4

    • @EduBrau
      @EduBrau 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      VW doesn't priorize aerodynqmics in design, so it isn't optimized. ID5 is better than ID4 in that, so It is expected to be more eficient.

    You should be testing all features of the car including features you may not use as your viewers may want to see that feature and how good/bad it happens to be, thinking here of your mention of the auto-lane change feature at the start when you mentioned prefer to do it yourself. Like the review even though it could be a VERY long time before it comes to Australia if ever since we aren't getting the ID.3 or ID.4 really any ID cars at this stage, welcome to politics. But the Cupra Born is coming as is the Enyaq.

    I test drove the new ID 5 GTX electric from Volkswagen and I was very surprised that the automatic cruise control constantly reads the speed limit and slows you down even if it's an exit sign speed limit. and it's an option that you can't disable so you're driving on the highway at 100 and it reads a sign that the exit is 40 and it starts slowing you down to 40! extremely annoying

    • @BatteryLife
      @BatteryLife  ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes you can turn that off.
      Assist/ acc/speed limit preview.
      And it does speed up to the highway speed when it recognises the end of the speed limit.
