I hope you found your answer since this comment was from last year - but yes, we did that for the company I work for, you can transfer the number to a Google Voice account, it was a one time cost of $20, then canceled the plan with Verizon. We've been using GV for the business line for almost a year now and it's been great.

If you already have one, can you make sure it doesnt recomend making a group and doing it that way, i dont have acces to all of the functionality, so trying to find out how to do things can be very frustrating as a begginer. The more experienced i get with the software though, the more i love it. I trully apreciate google workspace & their affordable call handling options. Being able to start with a free number was very nice, but it is frustrating i had to change the companies number when upgrading, because of how your service is structured. I have ro wait a month while the i tru to port the number out and then back into your company. (Completely unnecessary)
Can you add API's to Google Voice that allow for managing business lines? It is annoying that I have to set this up manually. It's not in the Google Workspace Admin SDK.
How do my empolyees know that the call is coming from google voice on there phone? I want them to know that it is a work related call so they will definitely pick it up
I know this is late but create a contact for your google number on each device. When it rings you will know its a business call and you can answer as such. Been doing it for 15 years.
Is it possible to use Google Voice for Business alongside my personal Google Fi phone? Example: I'd have my Google Voice tied to my work email address, but would also like it to work on my phone, which runs on Google Fi on my personal email address.
That's what we are struggling to setup. I want to have inbound calls go to an autoattendant, and outbound calls able to use our inbound phone line. So CALL AS for outgoing calls. But you can only assign the phone number to either inbound autoattendant or Ring Group. Not both. And there is no option to setup caller ID for outbound calls to show our company name.
Why do I need to hire someone to help set all this up. Why not have a customer service number to have someone walk them through the process. For a multi multi billion dollar company, Im sure you can hire a staff and put out a phone number for people to call
I have an excel spreadsheet with phone numbers that I make clickable but it just use my iPhone to call. I would like for the hyperlink to call through google voice instead. Please help. Thanks
