#1 Grasshopper (Best for 1-5 Users) ➡ th-cam.com/video/XiaHEWq0pRY/w-d-xo.html #2 RingCentral (Best for 5+ Users) ➡ thebizbud.co/ringcentral #3 Phone.com (5+ Users w/less features & cost of RingCentral) ➡ thebizbud.co/phone I put these in order of who I think would be the most advantageous for most users. I left Google Voice off the list due largely to issues with spam. For smaller businesses Grasshopper is usually going to make the most sense but if you need more functionality RingCentral is the way to go due to all of its integration partners... it acts more like a CRM that also provides phone services. Thank you for using my affiliate link above because it helps support my channel so I can create more helpful educational content. You still get the best possible promotions and prices but I may receive a commission. It's hard to express sincerity through a TH-cam description, but I sincerely appreciate your support.
This was a fantastic presentation. Thank you for tossing in scientific reasoning to support different features, such as explaning cognitive load. Grasshopper seems to be the way to go for me, I appreciate you shortening my research time significantly.
Hi, heads up, grasshopper doesn't offer their services in Puerto Rico. PR is part of USA. The rest of competitors like Ring Central, Intermedia, Vonage, Google etc offer services in the Island. Customers in grasshopper need to incur in charges when the rest of the competitors offered FREE. Google even offer numbers in several international countries without charging extra, that is very convenient for companies doing business internationally. Thanks!
You're correct about Google sunsetting projects, HOWEVER you can ALWAYS PORT your number to a new service. That goes with any of phone service. One to grow on! 🌠
Grasshopper's reviews on GooglePlay are currently at 3.7 with lots of users reporting sharp drop in performance lately. If you are still using them, did you notice any changes on your end?
Great video! Very good presentation. Just FYI to viewers: pricing and features of these company's plans have since been updated and are even more competitive
I've had Google voice for 15 years. I am happy happy to pay for it, I don't have to because they won't charge. But if they ever do I'm happy to pay for it. I have not had the spamming that you have had so unfortunate for you and everyone has a unique experience. Thank you for sharing. However the biggest feature that I find that Google voice provides me that I cannot find any other provider is when calls come in I can group them and give them different voicemail messages. If you have another service that has this feature I would appreciate a follow-up video or reply to the comment so that I could check out that other service should I fear that Google voice is going away. But again Google if you're reading this happy to pay for Google voice just send me a bill.
Just now watching this video but I watched your other video on LLC services and thanks to you I went with Incfile appreciate you keep supplying us with knowledge 🙌🏾
Hi!! I am interested in Grasshopper but heard it’s hard to know if calls coming in on your phone are from Grasshopper or personal calls. Is this true? Is there a work around?
If I were to use grasshopper will it recognized as a legitimate phone number compared to Google voice? I've tried using my Google voice number in grant applications or bank information and companies often refuse the number.
Very helpful video. Thank you for sharing. My question... Grasshopper or Ooma? In my small business (2 emp. 5 volunteers) we are hard-wired with Comcast business. I am moving our call center to another part of the building that doesn't have phone lines which is why I am looking at VOIP services. I am currently looking at Ooma to either keep our current analog handsets or use their wifi handsets to replace our phones... Our call volume is roughly 100 a week in and similar going out. Would appreciate your thoughts
Question, I'm building a website and I really don't want to leave my personal number on there. (For the contact info) What service should I use, If I only want to use a 1-800 number to show for the contact info and when they call it, it will forward the call to my cellphone?? So that I'll get the call without having to leave my number there?? I only need this to receive calls from people trying to contact me from the website, nothing more. Any idea?
Thank you! All the information and research was very helpful and you honestly made my life a bit easier with this. Again, thank you and keep doing what you do for all of us that need it.
I was using proton VPN the other day when I was out and about and received a message "This server does not accept peer to peer connections". Am I doing something wrong or is there a setting that will let me through the server without seeing me?
The auto text message feature only works when a call comes in from a NEW number. If a call comes in from a repeat caller, they will NOT get the text message again, it will go to voicemail if no one answers.
Which os by design. Because the whole point is you dont WANT them to know it is automated! If they got that over and over then umm I believe they’d notice!!
we are looking to switch from grasshopper because 1/3 of all calls the customer cant hear me and i have to call them twice, if i leave a message i have no idea they arent getting it, grasshopped wont help me, stay away from grasshopper.
Love the video. I'm running into a problem. Although my business is in the US, I recently moved and am working remotely from Jamaica. All these services are responding the same way. "this service is currently not available in your country". I can't seem to find a way around this. If I have a relative set up my account for me in the US, will I be able to log in and use the service while I'm here?
You can do that, and that would work possibly but I would recommend getting a VPN with a good ISP provider in Jamaica therefore you can set your vpn to be in the United States
Thanks Eric for your insights and suggestions. I’m a startup and solopreneur, when we receive a call or text forwarded to our mobile phone, will the system inform us which Extension the call is from? I’ll use Ext. 1 for the main, Ext. 2 for customer support & Ext.3 for promos. Thanks again for the info and I using your link to sign up for grasshopper & now I’m also a new subscriber 🙌🏼
On Google Voice, from a laptop, I can hear the other end just fine, but several have told me my voice sounds very distored. I called my cell, and it definitely is.
So what about a single person? I'm an Esthetician (facial & waxing) & like the idea of a seperate number for my business plus an instant text response. should I look into just Google Voice then?
You can try that route but the things I don’t like are the amount of spam calls on google voice numbers along with the inability to easily setup call forwarding and instant response via text that grasshopper comes with. If you can swing the $24 a month I think grasshopper is worth it.
If I get number through grasshopper and something happens to grasshopper will I lose those numbers or will I still own those numbers and I can just go to a different company?

RingCentral has everything grasshopper has and more but you’re just going to pay a lot more for the service. Grasshopper from my Understanding can be used with a voip phone if it plugs into your desktop. As grasshopper is either used on your cell or desktop application that would pair with a voip phone.
Nice video, quick question. Does Grasshopper offer you an option where you can determine if the call is coming in as a business call from your 800 number or not. Meaning, if you are on your cell. How can you determine if it's a person calling your 800 number or your local cell number?
RingCentral does. Depends on the package you choose. The second level package allows it but it’s not automatic. You have to select each call I believe. If you get their third level package it is automatic.

Thanks for taking the time and navigating through the pros and cons of these services
Cognitive Load is sooo real! Its overwhelming looking at 5-8 call routing companies as apposed to 3 or so
Ring Central's minute limit only applies to incoming 1-800 calls. Just FYI, otherwise there is no limit.

Google has a paid version for their phone service and you can always port your number out to another provider.

What is the best VOIP service for a home phone? Thank you.
