Just pulled the trigger on a refurbished 4xl from amazon for 300, cant wait to try it out, and conpare to my current 2xl, also bought refurbished from amazon, would have kept it longer if i wasnt a dunce and broke my screen.
I’m ready to upgrade from my Galaxy A70 and I’m only considering three 2019 flagship phones: Pixel 4/4XL, OnePlus 7 Pro or LG V50 5G. They all have the high end SnapDragon 855 and top of the line specs. LG V50 is the cheapest at $310 New on Amazon and has great cameras and expandable storage. Software update is their Achilles heel though. Update: I repurchased a Galaxy Note 9 8/512 & a beautiful White Pixel 4xl 128Gb. Love it ❤
I have regular pixel 4 and after 1 year I still loving it, even the top bezel very big, but no notch is more important and pleasing my eyes, after a couple days, the bezel not bothering anymore. And love from its speaker, superb sound quality and loud, usualy I not likely listening music with the speakerphone, but exeption for pixel 4, yes I'm not joking with its speaker quality. The battery was quite mediocre, but for heavy usage this could be a problem. Other than battery, this phone was very joyful.
8 hours and 10 minutes screen on time on my 4xl,i think that's fantastic, i was thinking about switching to S21 Ultra but Samsung ui is just horrible and optimization is just crap
I can't go back to a non facial scan phone. Yes, we're in Covid right now but how many of us are out there 24/7 with a mask on where the fingerprint feature is worth it? Nope, I enjoy facial unlock with no issue at home and it works flawlessly. On the battery life, I think it's a matter of a couple of things for the 4 XL: 1. Mature sure there's no app draining using the battery more than usual. If so, put it in the Battery Optimizer container, 2. Then try to use it heavily with the screen on until it drains down to 3 percent or so. I've done that twice/the times since last security/Google drop update last month and I'm constantly getting 6 ish to 7 hours SOT. It's so good that I've even noticed that when I turn the screen off for bedtime (when not charging) the battery holds really (it's a flat line indicating 2 - 3 percent battery drain). Prior, the line was strutter showing a 10% drain. I'm holding on until Google makes something better. There's no current 2020 phone with "all the specsth💦" worth the trade down
The price of this phone at alot of place is cheaper than the 4a and the 5 that just came out. Looking at it realistically, it is still wise to buy this instead of those. The only thing I would want is a wider angle and finger print int he back. If those two isn't important, then get the pixel 4xl.
basically the problem worth mentioning is only the battery life on this thing the screen is gorgeous design is artistic and timeless..i dont mind at all not having fingerprint reader for that and the face recognition is a worthy compromise..in-display fingerprint reader sucks at most..inaccurate and most are very slow wish i can afford one soon..stucking to my pixel 1 still 😂
Bought one last week. Day 4 much better. It was rebooting itself a few times turned off security unlock lockscreen for now and no more issues. I bought second hand so...anyway seems great to me. Coming from note 9. Fast and battery lasts me about the same as my note 9 which both batteries register 90 percent give or take on life left. So far so good. I chose the Google unlocked Edition. OEM unlock is not greyed out thank God. In the event I need to update I can via 3rd party. The screen and battery and back are way easier to swap. 250 usd like new. Great.
It's still running. Battery is about same. Go figure. I'm a heavy user too. Vibration motor gets off kilter at times and strips out sounding and feeling like a spool on fly casting rod. Haha I turn off all notification vibration and all haptics. Face unlock doesn't work or register face hardly. But it still runs. This is still a value even today. No more updates but thanks to GSI roms this will hold well on future ports.
So battery can make it through a day? I just sold my pixel 3a xl which was a battery champion and am thinking of buying this or the pixel 4a. I prefer smaller phones but this phone is much better in every way (except probably for the battery) and they come at the same price. Thanks
Upgraded from a 2XL, and I can say that the fingerprint scanner on that phone is flawless. Never experienced any issues. Using the 4XL thus far, I have noticed it is a bit of an upgrade. Though I do miss the aluminum chassis opposed to the glass..
I have the pixel 4xl as well and I love it, the speakers sound great and the overall performance of the phone is great as well. I also love the pic's the device is capable of taking it's better than any Samsung, Motorola or iPhone is capable of taking. The motion sense is good but it could be better sometimes I find that the motion sense does not detect when I move my hand over the top of the phone to interact with it. The 90hz screen makes it hard to go back to any other phone with a 60hz screen and going from a 60hz screen to a 90hz screen you will be able to notice a different in how the device preforms compared to a device with a 60hz screen (aka IPHONE). I also love the battery life I have been getting out of my pixel 4xl I have been averaging 1day 22hours to sometime 2 days of battery. I would recommend this phone to anyone who is looking for a pixel.
I skipped the Pixel 3 for the 4 XL in white and loved how it looked. I was a bit concerned with the lack of a wide angle camera as well as possible short battery life. Over a year into owning it the back panel separated and allowed dust into the camera area which might be from the battery expanding. On the flip side I have dropped it on very hard surfaces and it barely cracked in the top right corner. This phone seems to be very strong from my experience. Overall im glad I got the insurance so I can get it replaced.
Just bought one and got it this Tuesday. The battery on this phone is great despite reviews. I am a heavy user and Just checked my battery stats and it says I have 8hrs 15 mins screen usage since my last full charge. But my charge last 17 hours. My battery is just now on 9% so there you go.
I like the pixel 4xl but this phone constantly updates despite me keep updating it time after time, I had to put the phone away because every time i turn around the phone keeps calling for a update. 🤔🤔
Well I just got a Pixel 4a 5g, but I might rather have a Pixel 4xl. I don't like the big bezel on the 4xl but after using the 4a I can see that android does not have cutout and notch support in every app anyway. Not even google maps has it. So knowing that I now care less about the big bezel. The display is the one thing I want from the 4xl. I want QHD resolution. I don't care about the rest. I prefer the rear fingerprint sensor to the face id thing. I also like the 4a 5g battery life. But then again the 4xl has a big battery too. I guess QHD screens just don't last very long in general. It's the same trade off Samsung is supposedly making with the s20 vs s21 series. I'm not sure it's worth it but we'll see. For now I think the FHD+ resolution is 'acceptible' with at least 400ppi on a device. But my eyes are good enough to see the difference between FHD+ and QHD+ devices and I have noticably less eye strain with higher resolution screens. That said, I don't think QHD is worth $1,000. So when it comes to price $500 is approaching my upper limit. I'm willing to splurge $600 before taxes for something exceptional, though. $700 - $800 would be the absolute max I would spend and for that it would have to be exactly how I want. Which would basically be a uniformly small bezel, 6" - 6.3" QHD oled display with accurate color and contrast calibration that's no wider than 75mm and no taller than 160mm, support for Apple's usbc dac and a 3,700 - 4,500 mHamp battery with at least 1440p video recording or better from the facing camera with some kind of hdr processing for photos and videos for high dynamic range well exposed content creation with decently good stabilization. That's what I'd need on a phone to spend more than $600 on it.
Keeping my 4xl, for my 💰🤑 the five would be a downgrade? The 855, 1440p display, squeeze feature & face unlock? The 5 has none of those? I paid 599.00 a year ago, ya know what, I have no complaints, plus mo better speakers!
