This is really about the iphone they are all for whatever reason considered beautiful, and it is a nice looking phone just not exactly sure how for example if looked better than the not so orange pixel 4. When it comes to Apple things like notches don't matter people accept what they are given.

Either way, I'm not getting a Pixel this time around. As someone that has had every Nexus and Pixel up to the Pixel 2 XL, I made the jump to a OnePlus 7 Pro late last year for $550, after seeing what Google had on offer with the Pixel 4 XL... ATM I do not see a reason to buy any of Google's 3 offerings this year, as I'd be taking a step back spec wise in one way or another. Instead I have high hopes that they'll give me a reason to upgrade back to a Pixel in 2021 when next years models come out...
Now my wife on the other hand recently dropped her Pixel 3A in the toilet, breaking it in the process, and has fallen back to using her old Pixel 1 XL. After waiting to see what others have said I think she's just going to get a Pixel 4A. She's not a big gamer, so the money she'd save by getting a 4A vs 4A 5G or 5 just makes more sense to her (all she wants is Google's OS with fast updates for as long as possible and a good camera at the best possible price, so 4A it is...).

I think they made smart choices (battery, finger print scanner, price), and you nailed all of my thoughts as well. But as a 4XL owner, I'm planning to hold off, hoping they create a true flagship next time along with this midrange approach. I am sad I won't get the back finger print scanner yet as it was one of my favorite features on the 3, but I can't justify upgrading/downgrading to the Pixel 5.

I pre-ordered the 5 but after watching some reviews, I'm already regretting it and most likely going to cancel it. Like some have already said in the comments, I'm coming from my pixel 4 XL and I'm losing pixel neural core which I don't understand why they would take it out especially when it's very helpful with picture taking. I'm losing Soli Radar and face unlock which I really enjoy, squeeze for assistant, better processor, and a smaller screen which really bothers me bc I've always had the XL variant and idk why they skimped this year. I don't see where the upgrade is for me at least. I don't really need Ultra Wide camera which isn't even as good as others who offer a 127° field of view, Google opted for only 107° 🙄🤦🏼. Hopefully Pixel 6 draws me Back!

@@tjwatson2249 iPhone SE is a good competitor in the high-budget/low-midrange space. It’s a decent performer because of its A13 SoC, but the display (while plenty bright) is a low-res LCD panel, and the phone’s diminutive size means that battery life suffers.
I’d still recommend the Pixel 4a over the SE (at least for those not immersed in the Apple ecosystem) because of its larger OLED screen, much bigger battery, value-added software features, headphone jack, and superior cameras with Night mode (SE does have the edge in video shooting though).

So... the main differences between the Pixel 5 and the 4a5g are the battery, headphone jack, wireless charging, and water resistance? Is that correct? I'm curious as to why a lot of the comments say they'd choose the Pixel 5 over the pixel 4a5g when they're basically the same, but the 4a5g is much cheaper. I understand the convenience of water resistance and wireless charging, but for $200? Am I missing something? What makes the Pixel 5 better?

  • @supaahflyy
    @supaahflyy 3 ปีที่แล้ว +5

It's basically what the pixel 4 should have been. They addressed nearly everything wrong with the pixel 4 which is a good thing. As a pixel 4xl user myself Google's phones will never blow you away but they will get the job done and that is precisely why they failed at their old $900+ price point. At that price consumers expect features that blow you away, not just work.
For a cheaper price, the pixel is able to get away with not rocking the boat whilst still appeasing customers as they don't have to pay as much as an iPhone or galaxy s series.
If this midrange chip holds up, I'd like to see them continue using mid range chips. Funnily enough MOST of us consumers don't actually need flagship chips even if we think we do. Most of US would rather more battery

I think it's a mix of things that caused that. The first was the failure of the Pixel 4 and I think this time they're going with what they know works, no bells or whistles, just a solid phone. The second is they struggle with hardware. They're a software company, it's what they're best at and I'm not saying they can't do good hardware but they seem to struggle to bring the two together and work cohesive way so much so the CEO made a point to say "Hardware is hard" and defending the pixel team. Lastly (and this is opinion based) they haven't really got a solid track record with their phones and some of their products. Unlike Apple they haven't built up a solid reputation with the public buying their phones whereas Apple has consistently delivered.

@@unorthodoxbox Yes even the CEO mentioned that hardware is hard, but they won't give up. The Pixel line really needs their own Soc to separate themselves from other Android OEMs. Pixel software exclusives need to stay on Pixels so it can stay unique. Maybe that could help.

@@unorthodoxbox It just seems odd to make three phones with midrange processors that aren't much of an upgrade from my three year old 2 xl. I had to look elsewhere for an upgrade.

Just ordered a 4a 5g. I like the budget pixels for quality and value, plus it has most of the features I'm looking for. I'd like to give 5g a spin on Google Fi (T-mobile's 5g). Previously had hoped for a 3a XL, but on Sprint, got a regular 3a for $200 unlocked. Should be a nicer upgrade and larger phone to the 4a 5g.

Can't hide a bit of disappointment after hearing this. I'm still gonna grab a P5 cause my 2XL is showing its age, so I guess it's still gonna be a massive, very perceivable upgrade for me.
But it's still kinda sad that Google lowered the bar this year. Let's hope they come back with some high end device ON TOP of a midrange offering, maybe next year...

Haha i am the same way. My 2xl still works fine but its slowing down and its time to upgrade, but I am disappointed google didn't push anything. I am happy there is finally wireless charging

I'm kinda their too. Still going to upgrade but I was waiting on the wide angle camera for a while but really hoping for a 3 cam set-up so I'm a little disappointed. Also the removal of the squeeze function and the bad stereo speakers adds to my frustration.

@@NFEC84 same, squeezing my alarm away in the morning is one of the best features of my P2XL. Also the speaker is a bummer, although tbh the 2XL is not a benchmark in that area, so I'm always listening to music with some good TWS anyway...

I have gone from Pixel 4->5 and the only thing I'll really miss is the ambient EQ since it was just a nice touch. I won't miss the glossy black back, and I'm indifferent between fingerprint and face unlock, both are great and quick.
Also, the midrange processor really isn't an issue for a normal phone user, and I much prefer the better battery I'm already getting. I think most people who want way more power out of a phone are just using their phones as an incorrect device for a lot of tasks. Its just a really nice and solid phone.

@@Protecter117 thx for the great answer my friend. I rly want to buy the 5 but it seems it's not really worth the upgrade from the 4. I think I have to skip one generation since there is no other phone I can consider. The true android experience is just amazing on pixel.

You didn't mention the 6GB vs 8GB RAM difference. That could be the difference between a background app having to silently close or not.
