The only thing I don't like about my Pixel 4 XL is it's battery life. But I am an extreme heavy user. I'm talking about TH-cam videos, audio streaming, downloading, chats, emails and internet usage. I typically find myself recharging the phone twice a day. With that being said I love everything else about my pixel 4 XL. The Pixel 5 based upon all the reviews I've seen so far it's just boring and bland and I already have boring and bland. and I've already paid for this phone I don't need to pay another $700 to get basically the same phone with just a few things that are different that I'm not going to really use. I'm still very disappointed in Google coping outand not taking on the challenge to just do the flagship phone better and stop being so arrogant and listen to people and give them what they want. They quit and went down to mid tier and they still aren't doing that right because they're overpricing it. They just don't have their act together.
Its simple, if you have any one of the 4 series, dont get the 5. If you have neither, get the 5, unless you want to spend 200 dollars more for face ID and telephoto camera.
I have a pixel 4xl and really like it. But it took a tumble and I need to replace it soon. I really on use it for calls, texting, browsing and streaming music/movies. It sounds like the pixel 5 would be a fine replacement. Any thoughts?

Disagree about the back finger print sensor. Pixel 3 died in 15 months. All plagued by same issue. Battery swells up, back of phone comes unglued. Had to take it to shop and replace battery for both Pixel 4's. And then got rid of them before more issues showed up on both. Pixel 3 which right after out of warranty just died. Screen refused to even come on. Battery swelled as well. Never had this issue with LG or other phones. I can understand maybe I got 1 dud. But all 3 Pixels at same time? Apparently there is an issue with Pixel. Hesitant to try again with Pixel 5. I got Galaxy Note Ultra 20. Works great but hate it because of size and it's not vanilla android. Galaxy removed visual voicemail icon from phone app.
There are trade offs between the two. Pixel 4 XL wins in processor, no obstructed screen, active edge, telephoto camera and IR proximity sensor. I'll keep my 4xl, as I really like the Neutral Core with the Knowles 8508A which processes spoken words to text. It helps when taking notes when all the processing stays on the phone, and not over the internet..
Pixel 4 has the snapdragon 855 vs the snapdragon 765 . 765 is the equivalent to the 845. Better build materials , face unlock is quick. Pixel 5 looks super cheap. Couldn’t dish out 700 for it. Get a renewed pixel 4 xl for half that price now . 5 G is a gimmick in most areas .
Great comparison. My pixel 4 XL feels premium and no desire to downgrade to pixel 5. Even the pixel 5 unique camera tricks such as portrait lighting have been software dropped to the 4 series.. 5g won't be widely deployed until 2022, by then the 6 with Google's own SOC might be worth it, until then my pixel 4 XL will carry me there
Exactly! so many people jumped on 5g, 4g speeds have gotten better.
I absolutely hate face unlock. It works super great with the masks. I hope everyone brings the rear fingerprint sensor back
I just bought a Pixel 4xl, thanks!
I've been using the pixel 4, not xl, for almost a year. I get the same battery life experience as I did with my smaller pixel 2. I can easily get almost 6hrs sot. If I go hiking I'll get a zerolemon case lol.
@61 Cygni yep, that's why I skipped the Pixel 4. Even the Pixel 4 XL wasn't much better. I also HATE the face unlock. My Pixel 5 will be here next Friday.
I've tried P4xl, P4a5g & P5 cameras in potrait mode. You r right. P4xl is a little better & sharper when taking potraits but main camera r all the same. Since I love to take potrait photos rather than ultra wide angle, I have to choose P4xl. That telephoto have something to do with that potrait...IMO.
Pixel 4xl is for sure the better overall phone. Google needs to make a pixel 5XL with flagship specs
If they would just release a 5xl I'd upgrade. But honestly the 4xl is better in every way besides 5g which isn't even common in my part of the country
I love my Pixel 4XL. Was looking at the trade-in upgrade...... Nah, changed my mind. I'm sticking with this 4 XL. Though the battery has died on me twice since I bought it. First change was free, Google made me pay $99 for the second change even with Preferred Care!
Hate Google for that!
Is it better or iPhone 11 ??
Pixel 4 XL hands down. Ain't nobody downgrading processors regardless how "on par" with one another. For the first time in 4 years have I refuse to upgrade. Maybe next year Google, maybe next year 🙄
Exactly the 4XL to me has been the best device of any they've had and I've had all but one of the Nexus/Pixel devices. Face unlock is great. The ppi wich blows the Pixel 5 out of the water. The camera zoom is also great. I don't need a wide-angle lens I rather have a better zoom. Also the processor is actually better. Yeah no 5G, but 5G is not widespread enough yet, It will be this time next year for sure.
Pixel 4XL is still the most beautiful phone to date. Purely my opinion.
Rocking a pixel 4xl and waiting for the pixel 5 to arrive tomorrow morning
Can't wait to use both side by side
So what are your thoughts on using both of them?
@@boban61 Man, pixel 5 is definitely better... Even though the SOS is not an 800 series it's more than enough for everyday use and games....
Battery lasts 3 times the pixel 4xl SOT in my usage
Camera is slightly better also, so... Simply a better buy
Screen is maybe worse but nothing clearly visible
@@JoseJuniorTech I just replaced my 2XL with a 4XL. Used in mint condition for $340. The cheapest 5 was for around $515 which was too much. The 4 XL should be good for another 2 years and then I'll make the move for the 6 pro. Unless the hype this October is too much 😁😁
I had the 4XL and it took better photos than the iPhone 12 Pro Max I have now, roll on October when I can buy Pixel 6 Pro! Bye bye iPhone and thank 's from the UK. 👍🏻
Smaller screen, no face unlock, hole punch, cpu may even be slower, no camera upgrade, and I don't care about bezels, foreheads or chins. I'm clearly not the target market for the 5.
I have the Pixel 4 XL and I have been saying for years everytime a pixel comes out that in not getting it but end up getting it anyways, however this for sure I'm sticking with the Pixel 4 XL it just works for me with no issues plus has a Pixel XL user it's just not compelling enough this is more for ppl who have the OG pixels, 2 and 3
No way ,except battery Life and 5g(really needs for the next 2 or 3 Yeats?),Pixel series 4 Better than pixel 5.
Google made some good decisions with the Google Pixel 5 but the size is just not for me. I love my Google Pixel 4 XL.
I have a P2XL and pulled the plug on a 4XL in pristine condition, for $350. I couldn't justify spending $700 on the P5. Was gonna hold out for the P6, but with speculation of an in-house custom SoC and under screen front-facing camera, they will definitely need to fix some kinks on that phone before full optimization. Though I do hope Google can come up with some new innovative features, as well as camera upgrades for their future handsets.. Minus the foldable phone trend, but that is just my $.02 O.o
Edit: I don't see what all the fuss is with battery life on the 4XL. Mine lasts throughout the entire day with moderate usage.
So how do you like it after upgrading from the 2XL? I literally did the same thing like two days ago.
@@boban61 I love my 4XL. Definitely notice a difference upgrading from a 2XL. My only gripe is the motion sensor, but you can disable this in settings. It works okay, but becomes annoying when I don't want it to work, lol!. I have mine disabled. I kind of miss the finger print sensor, face unlock works well, but sometimes I don't want to unlock my phone when carrying it in hand. Oh, and the camera module, my fingers always end up on it and smearing finger prints. I am happy I didn't go for the 5. Looking forward to the Pixel 6, although I am hoping the rumors about using pOLED screen in the pro model is not true. We will see.
Can't wait for the Pixel 6 🙌🏼
Would be great if they brought back the face unlock. Wear gloves at work so fingerprint back unlock is really cumbersome. And have to keep on resetting finger image every few days.
Also not a fan of hole-punch screens.
Hopefully a plastic back version will be available too.
Why do the four bubbles on the right side of the search bar under my Pixel 4 XL turn into microphone icons?
The audio is too weak. Try to do some mastering before uploading. Thanks for the review.
Please what's the name of that game at 3:40 🙏🏾?
following
Its simple, if you have any one of the 4 series, dont get the 5. If you have neither, get the 5, unless you want to spend 200 dollars more for face ID and telephoto camera.
I figured out what was killing my battery on the 4xl...updating to android 11... I went back to 10 and instantly saw an increase
If u new to Google would u go for Google pixel 4a 4 xl or the 5
I have a pixel 4xl and really like it. But it took a tumble and I need to replace it soon. I really on use it for calls, texting, browsing and streaming music/movies. It sounds like the pixel 5 would be a fine replacement. Any thoughts?
What kind of monster doesn't like rear fingerprint scanners!?!?!?🤦🤯
Renewed Pixel 4XLs go for about $400 on Amazon right now. The Pixel 5 is nice, but $700 is too much. The 5G tax is too high for a phone like this.
Love my 4xl. Plus I use soli every day
Pixel 4 are 4xl face unlock is the best period.
U are looking like ihsanullah Pakistani cricketer 😊
You find it such a hassle to pickup your phone from a wireless charger to unlock it??? Either use your pin/pattern or just don't use it and do something better with your life. Such stupid childish complains from a grown up man makes me sick.
Video watched on my Pixel 4 XL
Same lol
Happy to see that my 4xl is not out of date,
just wish the battery was more efficient,
and i prefer the Telephoto instead of the ultra wide camera,
why not add it both on the 5 ?!
I'll wait for the 6 ;)
Nice review, thx. ^^
Wondering what to get next just got the pixel 2xl on Amazon renewed but want something that still will get updates
I can see Vic sleeping in one of the portrait shots.
Got the 50% problem on mine really good besides that
At least I know I don’t need to rush right out and buy one my question is can you hide that stupid camera cut out that thing is just to much of a distraction
@C. D. Cool deal thanks for the info I will have to find it once I can upgrade
@C. D. Thanks
I'm gonna bet the Pixel 6 will support ultra wide and telephoto 👍
3 years later than every other flagship smartphone
@@welshlad6427 Why does that matter? iPhones still have a notch and 60 hz but nobody is going to belittle them when or if they switch to 120 hz and possibly lose the notch. Advancement is nothing to knock down even if it is late. iphones are great and androids are great why does it matter if one phone runs a little faster than the other. I'm sure the other phone has something that phone doesn't, and it's up to the person to decide whether or not it's worth it to them.

Pixel 5 - design
Pixel 4/XL - specs/features
Hit the nail on the head
I wonder why all youtubers try to make it look like the SD 765 is as good as an 855 or even an 875?🤔
It's really really good...they optimised is so well you wouldn't see the difference
@@norbiayernor8604 it's definitely slower than my S20.
Disagree about the back finger print sensor. I would say 80% of the world don’t spend most of their time in an office chair, so having it accessible on the back makes perfect sense when you’re on the go. More over, I have an iPhone XS Max with face id, and in the day of covid and needing to wear a mask Face ID fails and is annoying AF when I have to type in my PIN to access my phone quick. Finger print sensor would be great in todays world.
Currently using note 9 and got option for pixel 4 xl for $400 cad 3 months used only. Any opinion?
Do it
As a replacement? Dunno. As an extra? As would Palpatine say: dewt
pixel 4 XL users will never downgrade to pixel 5
Downgrade?
...😂😂😂 That's some pretty backwards logic there!
@@DeadofWinter321 hell yeah😁
I am, but only because I really wanted the Pixel 4 but the battery was so horrible I sent it back to get the XL
@@somanyfountains know nothing about regular 4
but XL the battery pretty good
@@KHD1982 yeah the Pixel 4 would go maybe half a day at the most, but that's the size phone I want so the five is more appealing to me than the XL I end up with that's why I'm going to a 5 from a 4XL
Which is the game that they play???
man! in 2024 i wish if there were to be an upgrade to 4XL model! ultrawide and longer battery for instance.
That is absolute bollocks. I use the Pixel 3a XL and of all the phones I've owned this phone is hands down the battery king by far. No one comes close.
I just got the S21+ and had a chance to upgrade my 4xl. Guess what, I will not give this beauty up. Why? For me, the best feature is the user experience. It's a tough phone to put down. So which do I prefer using, BOTH? Sure the triple8 is a tad faster but not by much? Cameras & the purist of Android, excellent. Some call the design boring, nah, it's plain & simple? It's extremely fast with the 855processer and does everything great. Plus with all the updates 🔋life, 7hrs SOT, not too shabby. Even in 2021 with reduced pricing I still highly recommend it, very good review!
Owning any Pixel is and should be about the pure Android experience on the device. That's it. It's irrelevant to compare any Pixel line to other competitor's bloated phones. I've owned them all. The Pixel 4XL has so far been my favorite experience in any cell phone. Why Google doesn't just stick to flagship specs with 3 cameras, XL options, face ID AND fingerprint is beyond me. But at the moment, I'll order the 5 just to try it and compare the use to my 4XL. It's on Amazon next day delivery with a 30 day return policy...a no brainer if your just curious about it.
How did you go trying the P5?
@@priscillawalker677 It's not worth the purchase, I returned it. It's too small for me, and the speed of the inferior processor is very noticeable IMO.
@@guymartinmusic thanks for the response
So annoyed they don't have a 5xl have a 3xl now and was planning on a 5xl not sure what to get next now.
"So while wide angle can be fun, we think telephoto is more important".. you. are. Wrong.. Really don't know why google made the pixel 5 so depressing. Happy the pixel 6 is launching right now.. wondering if I would choose the pixel 6 over the pixel 4xl
Thanks, that was helpful.
I had 2 pixel 4XL's and 1 Pixel 3. Bought all 3 at same time for family. All were well taken care of and not very heavily used outside home due to COVID-19. Both Pixel 4XL's died within a year.
@David No. All original chargers and original google pixel stand wireless chargers from google itself.
Finally... Someone agrees that rear mounted fingerprint sensor is inconvenient
There are trade offs between the two.
Pixel 4 XL wins in processor, no obstructed screen, active edge, telephoto camera and IR proximity sensor.
Pixel 5 wins in battery life, RAM, fingerprint sensor, smaller size and a metal back.
I have a Pixel 2 XL. I skipped the Pixel 4 XL because of face unlock and the small battery. I ordered a Pixel 5 that will be here next Friday.
What are your impressions so far? Was it worth it?
@@visionare7641 eh, it's ok. The lower end processor is noticable. It's not bad but it's clear that it isn't a high end chip. The battery life isn't that great. It's definitely better than the Pixel 4 and Pixel 4 XL but a long day away from a charger doing more battery intensive things like using mobile data, watching videos, listening to music, using the camera and using Bluetooth headphones is going to result in the need to charge before the end of the day.
I probably wouldn't buy it again for the $700 I paid. I would for $500-600.
@@jimv1983 Thanks for the reply. I find myself in a similar situation as my Pixel 1 is slowly dying and both of the options are not particularly appealing. But a $380 Pixel 4XL now seems to be a way better deal over a $600 Pixel 5, which despite its advantages still feels somewhat underwhelming.
@@visionare7641 personally I'd take the Pixel 5 for $600 over a used Pixel 4 XL for $380 just for the fingerprint sensor and better battery.
Great video, i have a Pixel 3a and it has a lot of software problesm, ti shots down, cant tourn on, had to rebooted a few times and i read than many people had the same problem. thos this happend with the pixel 4?
I haven't had any problems with my 4xl. I wish it still had the fingerprint ID. Much prefer that to facial recognition.
Dude, my pixel 2, is on the same level as from day 1 on everything , except the battery life (obviously) , after 3 years of usage it rivals my iphone 11. I don't how my iphone 11 would turn out after 3 years , but pixel is a solid one. I'm a pixel boy for sure. I bought iphone because pixel 4 was an embarrassment that year... I'm impatently waiting for google to get their homework done and release a pixel 2 lvl phone next year
everybody say the pixel 4 and 4xl face unlock doesn't work with mask and glasses and nobody say for 2 second you gonna die to use pin
I still have my 4xl and I love it, but I have that issue with the black glass.
If u care about battery & 5G get the pixel 5
После samsung galaxy s8 что лучше выбрать Google pixel 4 xl или Google pixel 5, подскажи пожалуйста!
Anyone know what kind do wireless charger that was????
This video is so helpful for my decision . I 'm going to buy a pixel 4xl . It is nice to me❤😊
Just bought a Pixel 4 XL
I have a Pixel 4, and Im realy impressed with Faceunlock. It works perfect even in dark, or with glasses on. Sadly facemasks are a problem, but I dont have to wear them often.
So Im skipping Pixel5. Hopefully faceunlock will be back in Pixel6.
I'm actually thinking of getting rid of my pixel 5 for the 4xl just want to try that face unlock rather than fingerprint
well..... looks like I'm getting the google pixel 5... ha , thanks for the helpful information.
"Just like it, then like it again"... lol, doesn't that undo the first like?? :')
Anything for that finger lock option!!!
Am I the only one who finds a 1080p oled to be garbage compared to the 1440p? I can't be the only one who sees the large amounts of red/pink color fringing on a 1080p when compared to a high quality 1440p!
I'd trade my 4xl for a 5 in a heart beat. But I wouldn't spend the money because its definitely a side grade. Come on pixel 6 :D
I have the 4 XL and I can say that's of miss the face unlock. I don't like going a step forward to take 5 steps back.
the video i have been waiting for
Pixel 5 is better then the 4 and in my opinion & better then the gimmicky P6/ Pro too but you like what you like at the end of the day. The Pixel 4 and the huge forehead does it for me that top bezel is ugly af its no way you can compare that look its super dated and the fact that google went back to unsymmetrical bezels on the 6 series has me scratching my head seriously. Pixel 5 is the closest pixel to being perfect to me
How does 5G affect battery life?
I have the S20 FE 5G and I turned it off on mine. My dad has the same phone and he was complaining about poor battery life so I told him to turn off 5g for the heck of it and he hasn't complained about it since. We did a speed test comparing the 4g lte and 5g and it was pretty much the same. It'll probably be the same in most places so you might as well turn it off unless your area has a great 5g signal. I think a lot of companies are just putting 5g in their phones to make them "future proof" but it really doesn't make a difference at this point.
Plus phone service companies haven't addressed the pink elephant in the room: DATA CAPS!
Imagine burning through your data cap in only a few hours (or minutes)
@@poondaddy9992 data caps? Wouldn't that have to do with your service provider? You would have to research service provider comparisons if you want that.
I currey use pixel 3 A XL and would only got for 4 a XL now great video
Nothing wrong with bezels pixel 4 xl is a great phone
Another guy which don't know nothing about super res zoom and speaking about digital zoom and pixel 🤦♂️
Fuck the face unlock, phone unlocks all the fuckin time when you don't want it to. Finger scanner is heaps better
The speaker quality alone is worth keeping the 4 XL instead of upgrading, imo. Plus, fingerprint sensor seems like a step back, I like face unlock except for when I am wearing a mask. I use my phone speakers on bike rides because I don't want the music to be too loud, but the 5 is too quiet and sounds awful.
Pixel 4 xl is much faster.
