Pixel 4 is only hated by the TH-cam Tech community. Google designed this phone or the masses not you guys lol. All you need to do is check out user reviews 4-4.5/5 stars for this device. Best Android experience on a phone and incredible camera. When LG did the Ultrawide angle years ago, tech community shrugged. Only when Samsung and now Apple joined in, it has now become a must have feature. The problem is you guys do not represent the average consumer, your needs are completely different in terms of features and most importantly battery life.
Excellent video btw, I am not targetting you guys but the tech community as a whole, they really dropped the ball this time

@@ssaini5028 Wrong !!! Apple is the phone for the masses it has always been ! They are so easy to use that old non tech folks get it !!..not customizable at all , same old screens and features since forever .. ..very few changes . And is still has better camera, battery and CPU combined than pixel. This year the Best overall phone was not the iPhone 11 pro ..it was the cheaper iPhone 11. The main complain of the pixel 4 ...is the price ...they wrapped the software ( the good stuff) on the worst hardware !!! If they debuted the Pixel 4 XL for like 350- 400 dlls less it would have been less hate cause less face it ...hardware wise ….it sucks!!!

One fun thing about the motion sense. Yes it seems kind of gimmiky, but everyone loves how fast the face unlock is. Isn't that one of the things that makes it so fast? That it's on before you grab it and ready to look for your face.

    • @calvingreen7197
      @calvingreen7197 4 ปีที่แล้ว

No one cares about the eyes closed thing and yet they fixed it...because it didn’t matter. 🤔Who cares how many cameras the other has, because that isn’t what provides the security anyhow, right? Right...and just because banks are accepting it for purchase authentication doesn’t mean anything, because eyes being open isn’t a requirement. It simply has to consistently recognize the appropriate cardholder(s)consistently. Someone being able to authenticate in your sleep...is an issue! I don’t understand how some of my fellow Android users will defend their preferred OEM to the fire, but will mention an irrelevant differentiation of features to justify their point when they drag Apple into it. No one was trolling...which is the go assertion (or isheep spotted) when people want to attempt to discredit a valid point of which they don’t approve. Apple with their mere one camera can’t be opened if you point it at someone’s sleeping face, since people sleep with their eyes closed... and it functioned that way from the very beginning. Plus, pointing it at their face while awake won’t do it, they HAVE to be “paying attention” unless they toggle that function off. Glad Google fixed it so you won’t have your feelings hurt anymore.

As for charging, I think my old Samsung S8 charges faster than the pixel 4XL so I'm not 100% sure if the pixel has the latest quick charging capabilities? Or the bigger battery naturally makes it charge longer. That's the only thing that annoys me with the phone at the moment.

He basically compared something that didn’t relate to each other. What does having to pick up the phone or skipping a song have to do with motion sense other than that motion sense can trigger those actions and how are those actions considered negative toward it being triggered by motion sense. Basically nothing there is nothing negative about using motion sense to trigger other actions and those actions cant reflect negatively on motion sense. its one thing to say motion sense doesn’t work very well, its another thing to say that song skipping and not picking up your phone is a negative thing. Its sort of like me saying “i have to use my car to go to work today. Oh no using my car to go to work uses gas. That makes having a job i need to travel to by car a negative thing”. It just doesn’t make any sense because they aren’t connected. What he said was pretty dumb and short sighted.

The refresh rate I've had no issues, realistically eyes open / closed shouldn't be an issue at all, (new update has fixed this also, on my phone at least) while it is expensive initially, i got a good deal from EE even with pre-order. The phone for me is honestly faultless. face unlock has honestly never missed a beat, neither has the motion sense. Honestly does not deserve the slander it gets. faster than my mums new galaxy note and on just normal comparisons my camera arguably outperforms it also. happy with my decision as every pixel device ive owned has never slowed down or felt lacking, unlike other samsungs, sony's and iphones I've had previously

I also found that it probably would have worked better if they taught people how to use it better. I found that the motion that I see reviewers make with their hands doesn't work often. And it's dumb, because that's what the animation shows. However I found doing a bit more of a flick motion works 99 percent of the time. Sure I've had a few accidental track skips, but that's more of "just push the phone slightly further away from what I'm doing with my hands". Love my pixel 4 xl so far :)

I bought this phone at launch despite all the hate, skepticism and controversy. It does suck that the price dropped so quickly, but that's the way it is.
It's actually a really good phone, I wouldn't have known that by looking at the spec sheet or holding it in my hand for a few days. It became apparent after a couple of weeks of using it as a daily driver. I recently took it to a mountain summit in Spain where it surprised me with resilient battery life, despite using it to take a lot of photos and videos. When I put the phone on a wireless car mount the aggressive and reliable face unlock with the motion sense become very valuable. I don't need to touch the phone just look at it quick to unlock it, and I don't have a car with phone integration so when I want to change a song I just swipe my hand quick without feeling distracted.
IMO solid phone that maybe should have just been sold cheaper.

The majority of the tech TH-camrs have become tech snobs, obsessed with specs. Although overpriced the Pixel 4 XL is a phone for ordinary users. Ordinary users couldn’t care less about:
    The latest and greatest specs
    Screen-to-body ratio
    4K video
    Selfie video
    Reverse wireless charging
    Refresh rate
    Ultra wide angle lens
I just bought a Pixel 4 XL to see whether all the slagging off was justified. To my surprise I love using it so much that it has replaced my iPhone 11 Pro Max. For an ordinary user the battery life is fine - I’ve never ended a day with less than 60%. My advice to non tech-heads for any phone is take note of reviews but try it for yourself before making any judgement.

Great vid. Still digging my Pixel 4 (non xl).. battery life is fine.. lasts me the day barely with regular use and 90hz set to always on. It sits on my desk most of the day so being away from a charger isn't typical. If I was going to a park or somewhere I wouldn't be around a charger for more than 8 hours I'd definitely bring my 5000mah battery bank which is smaller than the phone. What sold me was form factor and the 90hz screen.. absolutely no other options at this time with that combo. I had a 6t before this and it feels like a beast now when I pick it up, pixel4 is much more comfortable carrying/pocketing day to day IMO.

For a student who spends a LOT of time at a desk whilst listening to music I LOVE motion sense.
It's so easy to accidentally get distracted by my phone when I pick it up, unlock it and skip a song but with motion sense all I have to do is wave at it.
I also find the alarm silencing super convenient and it decreases time that my alarm is ringing and potentially waking other people in my house.
Don't get me wrong, more motion sense features need to be rolled out asap but at the same time we need to remember that this is first Gen tech. And in the sense (excuse the pun) of tech companies bringing out new features and having the guts to try something new can only be a good thing in the long run.

However, just about everywhere you look the thing is being offered with some kind of rebate or promotion. If you're not paying the full price for this phone it's a pretty sweet deal. I agree the launch price was stupid high, but having this kind of android experience at a lower dollar amount is hard to argue with.

I will share my opinion on the specs for this phone right now. Sure, it's not top of the line in that regard, sure, it lacks a wide angle lens on the camera, but you know what?
I make the argument that it doesn't NEED them. The software experience makes my Pixel 4 XL feel like it actually is a proper flagship phone WITH the latest hardware. And I upgraded from an LG G7 ThinQ to this phone. Specswise...that was a sidegrade. But in terms of the user experience? I went from having the worst phone I've ever had (including my iPhone 6s I had) to the best phone that I've ever purchased, and one that I won't be upgrading from unless the next Pixel is worth an upgrade to. The camera? The G7 had a wide angle camera. I never found myself in a position where I felt that I had to use it that couldn't be done by the regular camera, so I'm personally fine with it. All in all, I think Google did a fantasic job with this phone. They found a way to bring the flagship performance that one demands from a phone without the flagship price. In my opinion, it competes and excels past (in terms of the user experience) ANYTHING offered by Samsung and any other company, with perhaps the only exception being OnePlus, whom I can't speak on as I have Sprint, and they didn't have that phone at the time when I was ready to upgrade, and I wasn't about to spend over $1000 overall for a 5G phone when I wasn't going to be using the 5G that was why the phone was priced so high.
I love my Pixel, and will be remaining with a Pixel for the forseeable future. One I can't see changing.

Fast charging doesn't matter. What matters is the battery care on the long term, as majority of people charge their smartphones overnight. So far only Sony Xperia phones have a feature to schedule (or the software learns that automatically) when the battery will get fully charged. Before, it charges till 90%, and then it waits till a bit before you plug it out, and charges the phone to 100%. Genius!

It took only about a month to fix the variable refresh rate issue. Forcing it to 90 hz constantly is just not a smart move since most of the time, you don't need 90 Hz anyway. Motion sense is not a gimmick, I take advantage of the feature all the time because you don't need to have your music player or the music player widget on your screen to skip tracks. You could be texting or browsing the web and skip to the best track without having to go back to your music player.

*1.* Software is clean, optimized, updated fast, & supported until 2022. *2.* One handed use. *3.* Beautiful HDR screen with 90hz. *4.* Google Assistant is so much faster. *5.* Very loud & quality stereo speakers. *6.* High quality haptic motor/feedback. *7.* Camera: consistently good photos, even in low light, and big improvement in video quality (frame rate isn't ideal, but everything else is vastly improved over Pixel 3). *8.* Wireless charging/battery life is fine for non-power users if you live in a city with working power sockets. *9.* Premium build quality, this is a big step up from the Pixel 3.

@@HardwareCanucks I did watch the entire video. You missed a trick in flipping the narrative on this phone and the winner vs. loser approach to product reviews and phones. Just my 2 cents. Merry Christmas boys.

Ok, more or less agree. I liked the idea of the P4xl, but at $999 (for comparable to my P3xl) just not worth the upgrade from the P3xl to me, even with Dual Connect that they had announced, which aside from the camera was the only meaningful upgrade. Fast forward to the week of Thanksgiving and they put the Pixel 4s for Fi members (new and existing) to 50% off (really a 50% credit after 60 days active). And they gave a fair trade in on my P3xl. Now, for someone that drives a lot and uses Android Auto, the Dual Connect is great, it just works.

Nice job 👍... Pixel 4 XL looks like a decent phone with deficits compared to other flagships... storage, battery life, charging tech, Ram , video quality, missing wide angle lens, built quality after watching jerry-rig everything. As a Pixel 3 a user I wanted to upgrade but just not there. Of course if you own a Pixel 4 xl you're going to love after spending all that money but objectively there's better phones.

Wish they made a really small version of any smart mobile. Even the "small" ones usually too big for my taste.

    • @ekatss2620
      @ekatss2620 5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

By "smaller", do you simply mean "less wide"? I remember that Sony came out with some ultra narrow phone a couple of months ago... Bu yeah, I concur with you on that point. Some of those smartphones are difficult to hold in your hand and prone to be dropped if you have smaller hands.

I meant still 16:9 aspect ratio but like 12 cm (around 5 inches) in height max. Don't have to be fast and can be bulky but smaller in footprint which can show me gps messenger, e-mails and google calendar and that's all. :D

See i went from the first gen Pixel XL to the Pixel 4 XL. So to me it's a fantastic upgrade, yeah motion sense isn't the best, but to me it's an all around upgrade. I really love it. I love stock Android and knowing I'm getting good updates. The phone is fast enough, like i don't game or anything so i don't think i would ever notice it not being the best of the best.

The only motion sensing I use is the waving over my phone to answer calls. It helps alot when washing dishes or while my hands are dirty

  • @AranakAsulis

I have the pixel 4 XL from a pixel 3. I wanted a larger phone. It's literally the perfect phone for me.
I love motion sense for alarms and music. I use the recorder app to record entire lectures of 90 mins that can be pasted into a doc if I want. It uses only 4% through that time.
Google assistant is much better. I had issues with the 3 that the assistant took forever to figure out what I was saying in low data areas.
You don't notice when the 90hz is dynamic. It's really good. The phone also feels good in the hand. I didn't like the pixel 3 feel.
The face ID is terrible compared to the iPhone 11 pro.

Motion sense is a positive for me. I use the silence call and alarm every day, and it works fine. skipping tracks works, but I do not use it much as my phone is generally in my pocket or just wherever when listening to music. And for whatever reason, i have to swipe from right to left to go to the "NEXT" track, which seems backwards. Maybe it can be customized. I dunno. Otherwise, I think the Pixel 4 XL is pretty solid and just works. My normal use gets me to about 30% battery when I go to bed. I am not a phone junkie, so I am not sitting there with my phone screen on flicking through social apps over and over to see what bowel movements people are having or what their cats did that day.

Reeeeaally waiting for the 4a with that Night Sight and Astrophotography for 399. And I don't care that it's not gonna have the 90hrz display, I just want that camera. Even more so after hearing that 4 isn't as fast as other flagships, iiuc. Good to know.

Just got a Pixel 4 after the $300 discount. Great review and if Google decided to make haedware and push the "Made By Google" then they're a hardware company too. The P4 will be a secondary phone next to my main iPhone 11pro max.
