The REAL Reasons I Switched to Makita CX205RB 18V Sub Compact Combo Kit

  • It's about time I switched to a new drill/impact driver combo. The newest Makita sub compact CX205RB 18V combo kit was the clear choice for me for many reasons. I couldn't mow happier now.
    Makita CX205RB 18V LXT Combo kit: amzn.to/3Lmth5Z
    Makita XWT16Z 18V LXT 3/8 Impact wrench: amzn.to/3H8gC3T
    Makita 2.0Ah LXT battery: amzn.to/3Akn9F7
The tools I like and use most often:
Magnetic spark plug socket set: amzn.to/3CzmpvO
    Tachometer: amzn.to/3sHibiH
Vessel Megadora JIS screwdriver set: amzn.to/363RFqO
    Channellock Bent Needle-nose pliers: amzn.to/3I5DbnA
    Long 1/4 Quick-connect Torx Driver Bits: amzn.to/3HUNgnm
    Spark Tester: amzn.to/3CxW2qi
    OTC Leak-down Test Kit: amzn.to/3CyUhJn
    Compression Tester: amzn.to/3IWd6sp
Wear your safety glasses, or you'll shoot your eye out. Try on some gloves. Take off that spark plug boot. Clean your room. Open the windows, those fumes are nasty. Just 'cause I do it, don't think it's the end all, be all solution. There's plenty more ideas out there, I can't take responsibility if you slice off a few fingers after watching my videos. And don't just pour that toxic stuff down the sewer or in the ditch, dispose of waste responsibly. Just be safe, OK?

Congrats on the new tools. I too am a Makita fan. I have the 12 volt CXT subcompact set. It has a 3/8 drill, impact driver, and 3/8 impact wrench. Great set of tools. Light, small, not too powerful. Makita has a nice impact rated bit set with magnetic bit holders in the case. These tools should serve you well.

I ended up getting the same combo for small engine work as well. Loved Mikita ever since I used their impact driver so I had to get my own..
I suggest getting a cordless drill holder, actually very nice compared to what the reviews had said.

I just wanted to mention that Makita carries two of these 2 piece Sub Compact (Black) kits and the one that you have is the better of the two.
I don't think that you mentioned it but the kit that you got is the one with the Hammer Drill Driver! The other kit (CX203SYB) has the very same Impact Driver (XDT18ZB) but your kit (CX205RB) comes with the ( XPH15ZB ) 1/2'' Hammer Driver-Drill and the other kit comes with the (XFD15ZB) 1/2" Driver Drill.

I appreciate you watching. Indeed I chose this kit for the hammer function. I have a Bosch SDS rotary hammer, but that’s overkill for around the house tasks. Cheers!

You should look into the Milwaukee M12 line. They make some VERY lightweight compact tools and they have so much power. The M12 impact driver weighs 2 pounds with a battery! Makita is great though! I have an 18v 6 tool Makita kit and I love it so much. But this new 12v stuff is getting so powerful it’s unreal

    • @TheLawnmowerLady
      @TheLawnmowerLady  11 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

I did look at that, and agree about their lightweight power. But I saw concerns for the durability of the plastic housing breaking on some batteries. With my track record of basically ruining the battery casings of those PorterCable tools, I decided go with the 18v. Thanks for watching!

the drill driver is even more compact and the clutch on the hammer drill usually craps out due to that hammer option. If you have to drill into concrete, i guess it will be useful 😁
you got a super deal on the set

    • @TheLawnmowerLady

    Hi Stella,
I would recommend taking the belt hooks off. I have them on my Dewalt tools and can’t tell you how many times they’ve caught on my clothes at really inopportune times. I’ve been planning to remove them. My two cents!

Still, mine are working fine after 9 years on the orig. batteries! I like the 12 volt impacts for certain small engine work because there is much less chance of stripping if the trigger gets away from you But 18V tools are a necessity too & looks like you made a great purchase.
