I don't need another tool, I don't need another tool, I don't need another tool... Dammit, after watching this review I need another tool. You did it again!
Sorry
Sorrry not sorry.
Just ordered the HR010G. Will come in handy for building the extension for my toolshed in the future.@@ToolsAndStuffOFFICIAL
These are particularly the tools I wanted to see - I have the DHR183 here in the UK and the dust extractor. I use it for all day 5.5mm insulation screws. I'm thinking of going 40v for my highest power tools (010 for the SDS, 190/185mm circ & angle grinder).
Thanks for the effort you put into to showing us Makita content, you are the leader here on YT.
Thumbs up.
Well that's not fair. Just got the 18v version...now I want the 40v version
No kidding. 18v needs a chipper upgrade. I don’t care if it’s weaker, sometimes that’s enough.
You are absolutely the best Makita tool reviwer on TH-cam! ❤🇦🇺
What a nice little tool the 40v one is! And a nice test too. The 40v one checks almost all boxes of a tradie on a normal house construction site. Brilliant!
Noice! Mine's on pre-order still over here on the west island. Looks like a tidy little unit
Iv got the original black sub compact 18v lxt SDS and it’s an awesome little drill. never needed anything else for my line of work. awesome tool.
really interested in this tool, looks like a great option for those who don't need a huge tool, and luckily it has a chisel mode. Thanks for a great review :)
I love it!
90% of my “hammer drill” work is setting screw anchors - usually while atop a ladder. Hammer only? Just right for popping a tile loose, chiseling out a bit of mortar.
Awesome test. Ive been thinking of getting the brushless 36v, wish that was included in this test, but no sense in going out and buying that when im sure the original bigger XGT is similar to its cousin the brushless 36v.
As for the weight, I wonder if Makita New Zealand stated the weight of each with an appropriate battery on it.
No chipping is a deal breaker. Have the 18V DeWalt and it's great. Wanted the 12V DeWalt for lightweight tile repair but: no chipping. This 40V is now on my shortlist.
Nice little rotary hammer and plenty powerful. 16mm is the biggest size I would need to drill too. I do some DIY and wood work. Got into XGT mostly because of the tracksaw. I also own the HP001G. So far it has done all the jobs drilling and driving. If I need to drill more regularly in masonry or concrete this rotary hammer looks like my best option.
I"ve blasted an 8" deep hole with a 1" diameter 16" masonry bit on the regular 40v hammer drill/driver combi drill. I used water in the hole and took a couple breaks to cool down the motor with my blower but that thing did it what a beast.
The dust extractor for HR001G allows quite longer drill bits I believe. While the other up to 160mm.
Tnx mate, now i have to explain to the misses why i need to buy the 4th drill.
My normal excuse is "because the famous Makita hand model with the soothing voice told me so" but this one is gonna be a hardsell.
I put a standard makita belt hook on my 12v mini hammer drill. Great lil tool for 4-6mm holes which is all i use it for.
That 40v hook looks a little bit funky but if it functions then the 40v will be on the list for when the 12v dies
Thank you for making this! I've tried watching some of the Japanese review videos and TH-cams autotranslate will often just skip large portions of their commentary.
I like my DHR171Z it’s a good little drill, plus it drills up to 17mm in concrete
we the people need a huge sds max hammer drill review from our favourite makita guy.
Что то он ее до сих пор не обозревает,наверно она слишком дорогая и он не в силах ее купить!!!
@@user-vf7gj3my9zyeah probably you are right
Would you consider a head to head with the older model 18v and the new model 18v? I have the older version and the older model slide on dust extraction thingie… I would be happy to lend you for the task!? I am in Auckland so it wouldn’t be hard to get it to you.
I've always been curious how the GRH07 stacks up to the large 40v rotary sds that's been in your videos. Is it a step up or down from that model?
Any idea on a uk realse date on tge 40v sds? Thanks
So satisfied you put those washers on square 😁
I agree in the handles. It's almost as if Makita get a different team to design the handles for every single type of tool and hook. Some are just a complete fail on a fantastic tool.
It is absolutely true. I use DHR182 and I had to do some tailoring of the slots to make it work somehow acceptable.
Wait, so how big is it next to the 12V/18V one?
Glad I stayed up late here in California, cool tools!! Thanks
You're welcome. I'm glad you stayed up late too.
My dog was scratching at the door to go to the bathroom here at 4am and this is a pleasant surprise for me as well!
I've been using the DHR242 with the dust extractor attachment for a few years now and it not only is almost dust free but seems to drill quicker into solid concrete with the extractor fitted.
I like that 3 function switch
Morning, Mate! Thanks for yet another informative vid! Would be interesting to see these 3 up against, or drilling through rebar, if'n possible.
Спасибо! Отличный обзор!
What a coincidence that Makita made a bunch of purple tools the same colour as your wall!
I defo like the big 40v one better, it was the best SDS drill that I ever owned
I was pretty bummed when i found out the Sub compact was coming out 3 months after buying the hr003g. However, i use it to drill 1" holes often. So i feel a little better now
Hows it do vs the top hammer driver drill with the top xgt combi and your highest power lxt combi
Throw the HR008 & HR006 in and review the whole family side by side!
Я его уже много раз просил сделать обзор на этих монстров на HR008 и HR006,но ответа так и не получил,наверно это сложно для него!!!
when I use mine it seems to wobble. DHR 171. Is this normal? If you look at the drill bit closely and just drill, my drill bit appears to not turn in a perfect circle. Ive test the bits they are fine, it is definitely the SDS. It does drill holes ok but I wondered if this was normal or whether I would drill better if this was a fault?
Добрый день отличный обзор,Не могли бы Вы сделать сравнение модели 010 xgt и с 18в моделью 242 они одинаковы по джоулям,спасибо
I realy wonder if the forge when high drain for instance while ripping with a circular saw will overheated as fast as the 6ho
It heats up less
Seems like the published weight includes the dust extractor.
Would really love to see the xgt compared to the hr008gz
Electricians often have to core drill through concrete or block walls to run conduit onto another floor or through walls
I’ve been using my Makita XRH04Z 7/8” Concrete/Masonry Rotary Hammer Drill to Core Drill through Brick,Block, Filled Block, and even Poured Concrete walls and a few sidewalks. I’m using Bosch SDS PLUS “Core Drill Saws”with surprisingly good results, most of these holes have been 2 9/16”. I’ve probably drilled 50 holes so far with the same Core Saw and drill.
If an older Brushed 18 Volt Makita can do this repeatedly and reliably those newer models should be even better!
The hook really should be included in the box. The older larger model not having a hook is a large design flaw. I use the hook every time I use the tool. (I bought a hook for my DHR182 which thankfully fits the regular and XL Makita hook. I have bought several of the XL Makita hooks part 346949-3 as they're great when working from ladders or scissor lifts which I do often.
The hook on the large one in this video (HR001G) came with the tool.
@@ToolsAndStuffOFFICIAL Thats good, the 18V version has no hook mount at all which is a pretty large oversight
Ive got the belt hook on the dhr171 and its good until you drill a hole and hang it on your belt and it burn your leg 😂. Great tool for 4-10mm holes.
DHR242 18V does do hammer mode.
isnt the hr010 supposed to come with a belt hook, it can be seen with one on the japanese instagram account.
also great review 👍
Different countries provide different accessories. It's up to each Makita region if they include certain items or not.
Would be helpful to compare to the standard drill/hammer drill that most guys have in a kit. I don’t think most guys realize how much better these are.
I've done that in lots of other videos.
Cool ✌🏾 😎
I wish I had a clean ring 😉
When you said "chuck" I immediately thought of Peter Jackson's Bad Taste.
...and then you said "chunky" 😂
Big downside with the 18v is it doesn't stand up properly.......I will stick with my DHR243 uk
big 18v one (which i have) would be nice to be tested against 3..
I've found the bits make as much difference - or more even - than the tool. The Bosch Bulldog or the Milwaukee X tip (both made in Germany) or the Hilti cross tip bits will change the way you think about what your rotary hammer can do.
The bits used in this video were standard Makita 12mm, Hilti 12mm and 16mm.
It's mostly the 4-cut drills that make a difference. You can more easily drill through/past rebar. Most of those are made by Bosch and then rebranded. The Milwaukee ones sold in Europe are Bosch. They even come in the same case (except it's red/gray instead of Blue).
The 4 cut Hilti bits are on another level.
The bulk of the area in front of the battery on the their standard size sds plus is this massive pendulum anti vibration system. I presume (without seeing inside of them) that the babies are simply absent of it. 2 joules is about the power of the Festool unit. I found that particular product to be unsexy since it wasn’t tiny like the 1 joule units (Makita/Bosch) nor much smaller nor lighter than your average 2.3-2.6 J Metabo, Bosch or 36v Makita at the time. But if you’re telling me that the new Makita babies are closer in size to their older 12v and “subcompact” LXT equivalent….that’s a sexy. As the resident Nuron whore, well…the TE-4 and TE-6 are friggin small as is, and the 6 is certainly equal to the HR001. Well, infinitely better because the handle isn’t a camel’s 24 grit sand filled arse in heat at the leather daddy club’s restroom.
Yes baby let's buy more 18v tools. Yes 18v!!!
i hope makita make a 24v power tools too
wouldn't make any sense at all
Sucks that the states seem to always get the newest Makita tools last.
They need to rear up production for the states
at least you can buy from japan without custom fees and hassle. I pay through nose for import...
What if you used a shorter drill first, then switched to the longer one, then the dust collector would catch all the dust?
Зачем он? Когда есть dch 172 и 274 )
Hmm so Makita 18V is more like an Allround Battery system that is more affordable while 40V is for the Professionals.
The milwaukee m12 hammer drill is a beauty but doesn't have chisel only👎
Clean ring😂
Do Makita make any tools In Japan these days? With thousands of western companies vacating China is there any word Makita may also be moving their manufacturing to another country?
Lots of Makita tools are made in Japan. Especially 40v stuff, but most is still currently made in China. I'm planning a video on the topic.
Makitas more expensive and specialized tools are mostly Made in Japan, USA and UK.
The cheap n cheerful stuff is China.
9:55 that's not cute and small looks more like Tetsuo:the iron man
What a nice little tool the 40v one is! And a nice test too. The 40v one checks almost all boxes of a tradie on a normal house construction site. Brilliant!
