@@cessnacitation-x the main reason for the battery drain is the x86 architecture, if future gaming laptops used primarily arm cpu’s with the gpu reserved for dedicated gaming (where the cpu would execute x86 calls under translation layers), we’d be talking about something interesting and compelling, but for now there’s no competition even in performance for their dedicated workloads
I recently got my first ever Macbook Pro M1, and honestly, the battery life makes this laptop so much better than any Windows laptop I have ever owned. The Apple tax is still BS, but I got my unit refurbished, and at refurbished pricing, it's been well worth it. I can finally see what the fanboys have been raving about. The only thing that's missing is an OLED screen.

If you don't mind MacOs then MacBook pretty much are the best laptops you can buy. Are they as cheap as some windows laptops? No obviously not but they're also better. The battery life is better, the performance is generally better than similarly priced windows devices. Theyre not poorly priced and they're not bad devices. That being said, I'll always pick something with windows because I don't like MacOs

firstly it's ryzen not rysen and those ryzen 9 in laptop are actually 8core 16thread one not the 12 core 24 thread ryzen 9 like in desktop. laptop processor core count with numbers are bit different
or even a ThinkPad T14 AMD is perhaps one of the best "modern" thinkpad series, just the display is slightly crappy depending on the options you get while ordering it

@@soufianeaz6725 a lot of notebooks do that, my laptop has only one replaceable ram stick, but thankfully 2x m.2 slots. also any competent repair technician should be able to repair faulty ram and storage chips, if not the manufacturer if the device is still under warranty.

Buy any laptop that isn't Apple and you can put Linux on it. That will have a similarly clean interface as MacOS, but better. Also, you won't be hilariously overpaying for hardware.

Also, you can get PCs from other brands that also have great quality. Apple isn't the only one that does that. On top of all that, Linux is a better Unix system than MacOS provided you aren't completely obsessed with the Apple ecosystem. I know most Apple people are, though.
@@rainman6090 Before I got my Mac I bought a Dell XPS 15, put Linux on it, and it was great… Except for the part where the battery lasted maybe 2-3 hours on a charge and it was uncomfortably warm literally all of the time. Been there, tried that. Very happy with my MacBook and it’s cool 10 hour battery.
I'm still using a 2017 MacBook. Once it no longer receives OS updates, I can always put Windows or Linux on it if I choose, and it'll be a good little x64 machine.

The real MacBook killer is having a modicum of computer hardware knowledge. Because if you know how much Apple is overcharging for the hardware you're getting, there is no way you would buy any laptop from Apple.

For all that's wondering - the difference in battery life is a result of Windows OS being terrible with managing bursts of load. In MacOS, cores are activated 1 by 1 as the load increases. In Windows, all cores are activated whenever the OS detects any load increase. Until Microsoft attempts to work with Intel+AMD to optimize their load balancing, battery life would always be a big issue when pitting against any MacBooks

2021 ROG Zephyrus G15 claims 13 hours of battery life on a charge. I get 11-12 hours daily. Apple does indeed have something to worry about.

Plus macbooks are beasts for content creators to edit videos and thumbnails so obviously they opt that instead of a windows laptop. Almost every youtuber that I know edits using a macbook pro and I agree some use windows pcs but the scale is clearly heavy on apple's side (and I already know there's gonna be one comment saying "every apple stan ever:" or something like that) I just love tech, I love windows, android and apple hell my laptop has win 11 installed and I typed this on a samsung phone

@@viraaj8225 Ever heard of bootcamp? Not available anymore for Apple silicon but on any intel Mac you can install windows on a separate partition aided by apple’s own software. I used to do my gaming on my Mac running windows 7 back in high school using this and it worked very well.

Not even close for me.... I actually don't think anything about it is comparable and I don't even use a macbook at this point in time.
The answer is easy if your want to choose between MacBook and windows, which is what are you going to use on your laptop. If you want to game, machine learning or any other work go for windows or if you want to just edit photos and videos or coding go for mac.
Apple has become less reliable like PCs, but the prices stay high. Disappointing… Even hard to buy one due to blurry of product lines.

At the end of the day, nothing compares to the m1/m2 chips. I have a pretty decent PC and my m2 MacBook Air blazes trough video editing way better than my pc does.

For all that's wondering - the difference in battery life is a result of Windows OS being terrible with managing bursts of load. In MacOS, cores are activated 1 by 1 as the load increases. In Windows, all cores are activated whenever the OS detects any load increase. Until Microsoft attempts to work with Intel+AMD to optimize their load balancing, battery life would always be a big issue when pitting against any MacBooks
