    Great story and motivating too but just want to point out that not everyone is this lucky to getting such a big following, I know so many bakers who market themselves well online, have delicious bakes but they don’t make enough to live off that money and they most definitely don’t bake every day. Sometimes they have to turn orders down because they are so exhausted from baking and decorating. The video mentions working long hard hours at the start before it all picked up even more, be sure to remind yourself that working hard long hours doesn’t always = results when it comes to baking and selling your own bakes. Working smart is vital rather than working hard.
    So although the idea of freedom coming from baking from home and doing your own thing is great and TRUE, baking is definitely NOT a get rich quick scheme. It’s actually SUPER hard since supermarkets are your competition as well as local bakers and when you start you are pretty much your own photography team, research team, marketing team, social media management team, one baker, one decorator, own accountant and ALL of that. You have to be making a certain amount to then hire an accountant or get a unit, and then even consider a baking assistant etc., and sometimes you just won’t be able to pay another a living wage from what you make. BURN OUT is a real thing too so although making so many X items and X price will get you this much money.... you will pretty much be overly exhausted when working alone at the start. Also if you bake you will know how expensive baking can be and then decorating equipment and rolls and all those ‘small things’ add to all of that too. If you see this and get inspired, go through with your dream ♥️ but do NOT fall in to the trap of thinking it is EASY because nothing usually is. 1. Your bakes could be delicious 2. Your photos might be great too and designs but 3. Social media algorithms don’t work based on your bts hard work, 4. There’s a system online for who’s account gets more attention but half the time it’s pure luck on tiktok. Be sure to do RESEARCH before you suddenly start a business and have CLEAR GOALS with an action plan to actually reach those goals! If social media works out then great but don’t rely on it entirely as it may not work out. Remember followers DON’T = paying client. 👍🏼
    Hope no one feels disheartened by reading this but wanted to point out that it’s not as easy or simple as this video may make baking for a living appear. ♥️
    Btw I DO know successful full time local bakers who bake for a living and use social media, but have also seen the other end of the spectrum as well as the in between where baker friends have SHOWSTOPPING cakes and bakes but their followers are minimal but their real life customers are regular and they’re doing well, as well as those who’s bakes are great, photos are great but the following is average and there’s repeat customers but not enough to make a living out off. Be sure to have a realistic PLAN in place if you give this a shot and don’t be intimidated, the food industry is LARGE but there’s a space for everyone depending on what they have to offer. 💪🏼♥️👩🏻‍🍳👨🏻‍🍳
    Ps. For anyone wondering, YES I know all this since I have my own small business in Blackburn @zofis_cakery working from home where I bake part time alongside my full time job at school. Similar info like this should be available on Quora with various people’s own expeiences with various perspective, one person described being self employed almost being like ‘self inflicted slavery’ because of the EXTRA hours and NOT enough pay... that hit home as I realised how much I’m working and now I’m working less and being now kind to my body since the body NEEDS rest. I mean sounds cool saying you are a boss right? But you can even come to hate your small business if it makes you overly stressed and tired and takes too much time away from your life especially if you are doing it all ALONE. Another advice I would give is, maybe make a LIST of WHAT is important to you before you start up e.g. family time, going out with friends, time to just rest, breathe, peace, minimal stress levels of anything you can think of so you can work on YOU, your LIFE as well as your business without one taking over the other. BALANCE is key here even though at first that may be difficult to achieve.
    Hope all those reading can benefit from this essay I wrote hehe. Got a little carried away when I saw this because I thought ‘ oh gosh unless you are a baker, you will NOT be able to see the not so glam side of it as well.’
    And for those throwing hate on this video being a show of, don’t be sour, it is most likely a reflection of your own personal feelings/satisfaction with life which is more common than you might think. If other people being happy/successful triggers you, that’s a YOU PROBLEM and you need to be thinking.... WHY is this making me want to say this/feel this way, it isn’t good for your heath to be so bitter as you can increase your stress and you’ll walk around feeling miserable when you could be enjoying and appreciating things you already have in your life .
    Well now, have a lovely day all ☺️💜

      Everything you say here is spot on! I have a baking business too @indrinabakes and it's a lot of hard work. I see it as a hobby that I can make money from so don't plan to expand to much, not yet anyway. I have a full time job which I make good money from so I don't rely on baking for financial stability, I can't imagine doing that, people the burn out is real, I experience it every time after an event, e.g valentines day, mother's day. Not everyone is as lucky as this girl, please keep this in mind when starting a venture, hard work and social media doesn't always equal money x

    When she disclosed her following number I was quite surprised because it was actually lower than I imagined (I mean some meme pages and pages who just steal this kind of content and reupload them have over millions) but props to her, I know some local Bakers who started like her and now have multiple stores across the country. To be fair though, a career like hers might sound really appealing, but when you own your own business especially f&b- you literally don't have time to live a life, you work long hours, the baking and decorating starts becoming tedious, and all the money you earn goes back into your business anyways, it's not something you'd wanna do unless you actually have a passion for what you're doing.

      It’s true but it’s different for businessman who started the trend, people will keep coming back. She did not gained it in a night, they ‘grew’ their business and girl knows how to take advantage of social media. In that phase, you make sure your brand is growing and well known so you worry less with competitors (beginners)

    • @devranbruinen4263
      @devranbruinen4263 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I never said she is doing a bad job or her business has no future. All i am saying is social media fame doesn't last. She is now selling like crazy thanks to TikTok, that wont last. She needs to be prepared for that. Sure her business could probably survive without TikTok, but not if she is now going to do crazy investments/scaling the business like a mad man because of the temporary increase in demand. It wouldn't be the first business that saw a surge in demand, acted upon it by doing some crazy investments in to the business and when the demand went back to normal couldn't pay of the debts anymore. That is what (social) media attention does, it creates a temporary surge in demand, but most likely wont last. It wont be long before the next "cool" thing comes along and people move on.

    Tik tok made me rich...
    Oh, it wasn't the space and resources your mummy provided you that allowed you to drop out of uni in the first place 😴 sick of middle class people explaining how they got rich by dropping out of uni.
    Poor uni students don't have the luxury to drop out and oh start our own business darling. Total BS.

      @Kat you don't think my 3 degrees and a successful career hasn't amounted to anything? 😂 I am successful, it just was not handed to me on a plate like this lady... Literally! 😂

      @Kat who said anything about being rich. I said she was given resources many poor people aren't given. Therefore, much easier for her to succeed than others. Nothing to boast about 🤫

    You got a huge following on TikTok from millions of thirsty dudes in lock-down who were just looking for hot girls doing seductive dances. You then leveraged that following into brownie sales. You could have sold anything with such a massive following. Smart girl, but show me an average looking girl or old man who can do the same thing. Pretty privilege makes a YUGE difference.
