That is SOOOOOO much effort. I can't believe she went through all that. You just never know how hard someone works. From doing test batches for 4 months...To potentially giving away her only car...To emailing companies 50 times....To rejecting $100,000. This girl has ALOT of faith and grit. Wow! Talk about persistence.
These companies aren’t worth that much , overvalued nonsense that won’t stand the test of time.
@@ihatekillerclowns That is capitalist. You start something and sell it when it is still trendy for lots of money than it is worth. You just have to do it right but it takes a lot of effort. Facebook was not thought to be worthy in the early days.
@@ihatekillerclowns 😂 the fact that her candies are in stores nationwide with such unique and good offering for children is already enough to show that the company is worth that much if not much more. You don't know much about business, do you?
@@jovanleon7bollocks. You have toy companies have their product in every major retail store, but are losing money despite the valuation of the company being grossly overvalued. It means literally nothing. The valuations are just that until someone wishes to do a takeover for that much. If she gets bought out by the big multinationals, they won't pay as much as you think - but she'll sell out and be happy with it - selling junk to kids.
and she is also hot
Not taking that 100k was the smartest decision she made, great story, she’s an inspiration to everyone of all walks of life.
Also very risky. If she didnt have publicity she could have gone under

Makes you wonder how many people out there sold companies worth billions of dollars for basically nothing.
i guess but the candys really arent good for you, not much better anyways. the amount of gut wrenching fibre is insane in these

Building wealth from nothing involves consistent saving, disciplined spending, and strategic investments. Begin by creating a budget to track expenses and identify areas for savings. Prioritize paying off high-interest debt and establishing an emergency fund. As you build a foundation, start investing in low-cost options like index funds, and focus on continuous learning and improving your skills for better income opportunities.
Impressive insights! For beginners like me, managing and staying updated can be overwhelming. Are you an experienced investor or do you have a strategic approach for staying informed?
I think having an investment advisor is the way to go. I've been with one because I lack the expertise for the market. I made over $490K during the recent dip, highlighting that there's more to the market than we average folks know.
Hmmm this is quite interesting, Please can you leave the info of your investment advisor here? I’m in dire need for one.
My CFA ’’Sharon Ann Meny , a renowned figure in her line of work. I recommend researching her credentials further. She has many years of experience and is a valuable resource for anyone looking to navigate the financial market..!
I just googled her and I'm really impressed with her credentials; I reached out to her since I need all the assistance I can get. I just scheduled a caII.
Omg her saying that she already saw success and only had to reverse engineer the process. WOW. I’m so inspired.

I really needed to hear this today. I am so glad she didn't let that company take advantage of her with that $100k offer. Amazing story and super motivational!
I’m so glad you’ve done this video, there are thousands of bro vids with bros interviewing other bros about how they got so successful at such a young age and barely any about women who’ve done it.
If you're interested in successful women entrepreneurs definitely look up Codie Sanchez! she's kickass

Her confidence is so inspiring! Love to here that she wasn’t surprised when her hard work paid off. ✨
This is one of the best videos I have ever seen. Great story! Perhaps the only thing missing would have been some tough times that she probably experienced when creating this company. I know she got a lot of no's. It would have been interesting to hear how many no's she got, how she felt, whether she was ever discouraged, and why she continued even though there were so many no's along the way.
She's only 26 and made millions. She didn't get many no's but will make it sound like she did just to seem more hardworking. She likely approached a bunch of horny male investors who saw her good looks and allowed them to give her money based on their desire to date her. Doesn't mean she dated them but they surely wanted to use her. There is no way that a candy product that is truly so basic could sell so much unless it was backed by infantile horny dudes who chase pleasure above all.
As a good-looking female entrepreneur, I can attest that 95% of investor leads are garbage and are more interested in using the female in business for clout than actual belief in the product. Her product is far from being the only less toxic one on the market. There is way more to her story than she's saying. She was used as a pawn.
@victoriajonas44 all of you shut up
Her story is so amazing, it’s amazing that she did what she did.
I did enjoy learning about this as much as you enjoyed making it. Amazing job Shelby! And Monica coming through with the videography ‼️ I’m a huge fan of these types of videos
I admire her so much! The way she visualized her success is such an impactful lesson to everyone not just in Busniess but in life.
Great video and her story is so interesting! The part I liked the most was her talking about how she visualized her successful future. Even though she worked very hard, she still thinks that visualizing and believing that the company would succeed (even though she struggled sometimes with doubts about herself), played a big part and I think that her explaining all this was a highlight of the video.
Shelby, you’re amazing for sharing this super inspirational video, I seriously needed to watch this and the Smart Sweets story is remarkable. Following your heart and intuition is key to everything ❤

Loved this video, Shelby! As a food product founder, this was so inspiring! I’d love to see more videos about other people who have created and grown their brands in the future.
I love seeing young women go against the grain of what they're "supposed" to do (go to college, get a good job, be a corporate contributor, etc) and instead, going for what they're heart and passion is telling them to do. @@timgoat556 You have to realize that a lot of these businesses fail. She had to work very hard and be very careful with her decisions a mistake could have made the business worthless. Alternatively, she could have taken the guaranteed 100k and walked away. Hindsight is always 20-20.
No the 100k is always stupid even if failure... They basically knew it had potential and wanted an extremely greedy unequal low risk high reward investment that parasites off her luck/business @@michael6909
@@michael6909true true but either way she won in the end
@Karitheachiever Yes, she did. However, for a lot of people, the win would have been to take the $100,000 payout and not potentially lose the company and even go into debt. Business is a combination of luck and skill. Sometimes you can be the best and still lose massively or you get extremely lucky and win it big with no skill.
It was really inspiring to hear her achieve her vision for the company. Very impressed to see a young entrepreneur that didn’t start out as a celebrity.

Really great inspiring story... I like where she said "If i just looked at numbers and logic I would have went a different path" This is something with every business I ever started would deter me at first. But you have to remember is that if others have started with nothing and achieved great things.... thats there is no reason you can't do it too!
most businesses fail, that's what deters me!
@@jj-if6itThat’s very true, but if you look into the stories of big businesses, you’ll see many of them failed multiple times in the early stages of building to where they are now. That’s what differentiates those who give up vs those who continue until they succeed. The way Tara believed in her product so much that she realized there is no other option, but to make it happen. That’s the mentality an entrepreneur needs to have.
This is so good! Love everything she said on visualization and affirmations!

Such a unique story!!
I love her story, its an awesome one but just how you talked about people getting money from parents to buy homes, we should also talk about the privilege/access of things like taking out life insurance for thousands of dollars for a business, still being able to say “ill be in debt and on the couch maybe”, and let alone dropping out of college
Exactly! Love these stories and how Shelby doesn’t wash these elements away. But would be cool to see an even deeper focus on how out balanced the systems can be
I still don't understand the concept of taking out life insurance as a business loan. What does that mean?
@@annas.8902 some healthy wealthy people crap. i just know that it’s harder for people with disabilities to get life insurance at all so that within itself shows you’re using the system to your advantage
@@annas.8902 When you have an insurance policy open you can take out a loan against the cash value of the policy. This is basically the component of insurance that you have the ability to access currently if need be for various expenses. There are two ways of accessing the cash value, which are 1. surrendering the contract (getting cash and terminating the policy) and 2. loans. The problem with 1 is that on most basic policies you'll get less money than you put into the actual premiums. And also, your policy is terminated so your death benefit (what passes onto your heirs in case of death and usually the largest value of the three components of life insurance) is gone. By taking out a loan, you can keep the policy in force, all the while getting more than you would by surrendering the contract in most circumstances. Only caveat is interest. Hope that helps! 👍
If you take out a large enough business they will require you to buy life insurance and sign it over to the lender (not your family) in case you die. @@annas.8902
