Ingredients Needed:
Salted Butter Shortbread Cookie Base:
1 cup (225g) SALTED butter, softened
3/4 cup (100g) powdered sugar
2 cups (300g) all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon (10g) vanilla extract
Caramel:
1 cup (227g) butter
1.25 cups (195g) light brown sugar
1.25 cups (370g) light corn syrup
14 ounces (397g) sweetened condensed milk homemade version totally viable
1 vanilla bean pod scraped of beans
Chocolate coating:
1lb (450g) 60-70% cacao dark chocolate, very finely chopped

My mum's the same. We did have one for a few years, which I pretty much the only one to use it on food (she still warmed butter in the sink with water). It broke down a few months ago, and there are no plans to replace it.
There isn't really much you "need" it for, like not even to the point where it makes things drastically easier

I know he’s made his mark by making the “‘making this at home…but better,” but I am itching to see him do videos of his own dishes. Good texture, good to crunch with the teeth.
Quick snack, you don't have to make it.
No need for perfection, as it is simply a chocolate bar.
The feeling of the caramel stretch, and the taste of it, very delicious.

You've effectively made what we call Millionaire's Shortbread, here in the UK.
That was my exact thought. Twix is literally just millionaire shortbread just not nearly as good.

Except most UK recipes I have found scale WAAAAY back on the syrup (like 4 tablespoons vs 1.25 cups)
Twix is one of my favorite. It’s the perfect balance of crunch chewy and chocolate. Best part is it’s not too much since they are thin. Your version would be too sweet for me.

Using normal short bread would make it less crunchy, which is personally my favorite part about Twix. I bet his chocolate bar would still taste good, but it wouldn't scratch the same itch as Twix.

I like the contrasting texture of the caramel, chocolate, and the crisp short bread cookie. Im sure yours tastes better but idk how I'd feel biting into something that's supposed to be a twix and it didnt have the crisp crunch and it was just soft.

As a professional Confectionist i recommend making the twix with a shortcrust instead of shortbread,

I'm not a professional chef at all, however I feel the need to give my 2 cents about papa's candy today
In my opinion, a chocolate candy bar is designed to deliver chocolate to you in a satisfying manner, usually paired with other candy/baked foods to spice up your life.
With that being said I think papa's twix had way too much bread+caramel to chocolate ratio. Og twix looks like it had the same amount of chocolate as papa twix, but og twix had half as much caramel and bread. I would honestly go *less* than what og twix puts in their chocolate bars, but I do respect papa's cooking today and I am tempted to recreate this with much less inside candy

No chocolate, no caramel, no biscuit, just sugar and I don't know what they did but it sucks cause they used to be a favourite of mine. That said, god knows I'll still eat one if it's up for grabs.

The best thing to do with a twix is to bite each end and use as a straw for a hot drink. Makes the biscuit soft and melts the caramel. Great with coffee. Can yours do that?

I had a Twix bar in New Zealand and for some reason, it had WAY more flavor than the ones in the states. It had hins of things like cinnamon and such. It was weeeiiirrrd, but in the best way possible.

It's a US chocolate thing. The chocolate in NZ and AU used cane sugar and more actual chocolate particulates. Honestly it seems to be an issue with US food in general. Fast foods like Mcdonalds are also better in these countries ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Honestly, I think Twix doesn't need a buttery, complex shortbread. Most importantly it should be crunchy, crumbly, and even sort of dry. You need something to stand up to the already rich caramel and chocolate, and I get that's why it's salted, but still...

Maybe if you were doing Twix-inspired cookies or a cookie cake, you can get away with it.
And I think he should have done the other Twixes besides the classic caramel one, like the peanut butter one, the fudge one which was around in the 1990s, the cookies and cream ones which came back last year -- heck, he could have done ones that either don't exist or aren't available in America (same thing with Kit Kat bars, if he hasn't done a video on those).
