Being a teenager in the 80's allowed me to be front row and center to the world's best music and bands! I knew who KISS was and had been to a concert in Evansville, Indiana to see them without their makeup and they were great. I had no idea that my adult autistic son would have a clue who they were until we were watching a movie where Paul and Gene made a cameo and they were singing, "I want to rock and roll all night"....he comes out of his room and said, "I love this song, I know this band KISS because they were on Scooby Doo!" He has been a fan ever since and had the opportunity to see them in concert in Nashville Tn. just a few years ago. Thank you Gene Simmons for waving at my son while he was playing air guitar at the side of the stage. Whether you waved or even saw him doesn't matter, he thinks you did and that is his claim to fame now! What an interesting man with a beautiful speaking voice!!
I have to say I am truly amazed at this interview. Being I am almost 60 years old I was listening to KISS in my teens and into adult life. I have gained such respect for Gene Simmons after hearing this interview and how real, honest and heartfelt he was. Also kudos to his beautiful wife Shannon and how they raised their kids. Blessings and thanks for this eye opening interview.
I used to watch Gene and Shannon’s reality show and it was fabulous. Loved how their children were so unspoiled and down to earth. I have a lot of respect for them as parents and people. Now I know the background of Genes life and love him even more… thx for this uncensored interview Piers!! 🥰
My father left Hungary when the Russians invaded, he went to England and later Australia, but 6 months after I was borne in the late 60’s we went back to Hungary, as he missed his mother and family, things were hard, I remember Hungary well, in 1976 we went back to Australia, with one bag between 4 of us, they wouldn’t let us take any money out or even any pictures. The first week I was back in Australia I remember seeing something amazing and scary on TV, it blew flames and had demon makeup on, it was gene, and so began my journey with Kiss, been to many concerts, thank you for a lifetime of great music.
I love this man. He is so genuine, down to earth, and real. He is so damn smart and not just about the world but he also wise (yes, there is a difference). He is respectful, grateful, and has a great attitude. It is a shame his family suffered such brutality in WWII. He just "gets it". He became a really good man.
It wasn't a Versus, it was Piers being very respectful clearly admiring the man and Gene being his usual eloquent, articulate self. So it was a good interview.
Saddest thing i ever heard. Hits you to the bottom of your soul; the inhumanity of alleged humans. Also one of the best things I've heard, Ma lived to 94, and saw her son become a world wide rich star. For years I heard Gene was arrogant and aloof, no! What a grateful, reflective, intelligent and surprisingly humble man he is. Respect Sir! 😀👍
Sadly, those "alleged humans" run the world today, and make up over half of the US population. The only difference is people are taught to agree with the oppressive nature of today's culture. Simply put, all of our rights in the bill or rights were considered critical by very good and smart founders, to protect us from government control. The all matter, and all should be absolute. If you like humanity, stand up for the original bill of rights as drafted.
It's so refreshing to see an interview where openness and honesty prevail and no one takes offense or get their feelings hurt or classifies someone on some "side" or in some "tribe". I didn't realize how rare it can be until I saw this interview. Thank you Piers&Team + Gene for a breath of fresh air!
I wish the younger generation respected what our grandparent and parents went through to give them what they have now. These stories should be spoken about. This generation of woke (for want of a better word) have no idea, nor respect for what went before them. This was a great interview. Cheers @Piers Morgan Uncensored.
My first KISS concert was at age 14. I am now 61 and I would still go to see KISS. Love you guys!!! I know you are on your farewell tour. Hate to see You go but I am sure it has been a good ride. God bless…… thank You for all the memories.
It always amazes me how intelligent, down to earth and humble both Gene and Paul seem to be whenever I see them in an interview. I guess the intelligence stands to reason...you don't get that rich being stupid.
I didn't want this interview to end. I love Gene and Shannon! Wow! I was never a KISS fan so I never followed anything about him. He is so interesting and seems to be such a good man. It was so nice hearing about his mom, I know he really misses her. He has longevity in his family, too. My dad was 93 when he died 2 years ago. I miss him so much! My mom will be 91 in September and I'm so thankful that she's very active and healthy and still with us. Thank you for this wonderful interview.
Incredible story of his mother. Should be a movie made of her life leading into her Son’s life, ultimately becoming a super star. My first concert as a 16 year old was Kiss in Ottawa in mid 70’s in the Ottawa Civic centre. It was an amazing performance, I was worried the roof was going to come crashing down the stadium was rocking so much from the concert goers dancing and stomping the night away. Kiss was Entertainment with a capital E. They put 200% into every performance, it was obvious they never took their audience for granted❤
As someone who grew up in the 70's and 80's I've seen many, many interviews with Gene Simmons but I must say this is probably the best I've seen. Gene is a very intelligent and savvy man but his telling of his early years and of his Mother is a fascinating and heart- warming/wrenching one. His ability to articulate his feelings and be honest about his experiences came through more so than other interviews where he comes across as a smart-arse on occasions. I did chuckle when he was talking about bands going on too long but apart from that I thought this was an excellent and honest interview. Piers Morgan isn't always my cup of tea but he interviewed well. Shannon Tweed is brilliant, funny woman.
I love you mom my hero, and dad my hero but mom was like an angel, she taught herself English and became a teacher and a beautiful person physically and soul a calm lady with a high IQ and made all nine of us feel special individually. ❤️🙏💯💔✝️❤️
This was an incredible interview. What an eloquent and decent man Mr Simmons is. It was wonderful to hear about his childhood and his wonderful Mother ❤
After listening to this interview ..I have admiration for Gene. The first 30 minutes I wanted to tear up of what his mother and he went through and expressing what this great nation offerered to them but we Americans have no clue! He has respect and integrity. AND AND…I went to my first and I guess last 💋 concert. They rocked and I rocked it in AUSTIN TEXAS💋💃🥰😎
"If you don't have a sense of history or where you came from you take everything for granted" - Gene Simmons Well put! Articulate, clear, and common sense.
Wow! Just wow! Prior to watching this interview in its entirety, I had no idea that Gene and his mother had to go through this. Now look at him, one of the biggest rockstars just doing what he loves and living day by day! Good for you!
What a class act! I just saw Gene, Paul and KISS in concert here in Vancouver last night. It was an unbelievable experience… the end of an era for me almost 50 years after I joined the Kiss Army.
Seeing Gene really took me back. My brothers and I used to play their Albums and my brothers even painted their faces on Halloween. I sure miss those days and my brother who has been gone now 3 years. Those were amazing days. Keep up your amazing life Gene.
Thank you Piers for this wonderful interview with Gene. What an interesting man & I love your interview style - it’s conversational. More of these please!!
I am a HUGE KISS fan!!! In particular Gene is one hell of a nice guy who is smart, caring and humble. That's a lot to say of someone who has attained the kind of success he has in his life and career. Having Shannon as his wife is icing on the cake. Two genuine individuals who were most certainly meant to be. 👍❤
WOW! I did not know this about Gene Simmons. What a great story to hear. So proud of you and your mom Gene. I love to hear you say such great things about the USA. Kudos to you Gene. Thank you Piers for conducting such a great interview. I have a new found respect for Gene Simmons!
Well capitalism and democracy have been pretty good to him. Of course without his intellect and marketing skills he wouldn't be where he is, but also the fact that his family got asylum here from nazi Germany would give any man lifelong gratitude and patriotism. People call him a hack but he's a very interesting, smart guy. Just because he knows how to work the system to his advantage people don't like him.
I'm in awe of Mr. Simmons now - After so many years of seeing what we all saw as a Rock Legend, for good or bad.. Thank you for pulling back the curtain. So much more respect than ever before
Fifty-three year old diehard Led Zeppelin fan here, who always enjoyed KISS. There's NO QUESTION that KISS had something no other act had, ever. It also doesn't hurt that Mr. Simmons is, by natural instinct, a MASTER marketer as well as one of the most interesting figures of the last hundred years.
The way Gene talks about his mother makes me think about my grandmother, I hope to see her again one day after it's my time to leave this world, because it took me a long time to realize I was raised by a hero or I should say heroine.
What a wonderful interview. It brings back so many memories of being a carefree teenager. I used to sit in my room for hours listening to KISS while drawing/painting the band. Thank you Piers and Gene for the trip down memory lane. What an incredible life you and your Mom had. Bless her.
Massive respect for Gene. He’s such a great role model, and has a wicked sense of humor. The story he told of his mother and childhood was incredible and has shaped him in to who he is today. I remember when Kiss came on the music scene, they were like nothing we’d ever seen before, so unique and incredibly talented. He’s lived an incredible life, is a smart business man, and doesn’t take his fame for granted.
Role model? I bet he regrets his appearance in Decline Of Western Civilization Part 2. This is what I despise about Shannon. She knew Gene kept Polaroids of his "groupies" even after they had children. It was only when the children were approaching adulthood did she start pitching fits about his lifestyle.
'Role model'? Well, I suppose he is if you believe capitalist ideology and are interested *only* in accumulating huge amounts of cash (by selling plastic images of yourself in that three-chord-wonders band you play in) and f*****g girls young enough to be your grand-daughter...
@@holland736 Why? Because my opinion isn't the same as yours? Are you a fanboy for ol' Gene? No doubt you still pontificate (to anyone who'll listen) about what a classic album 'The Elder' is...hahaha. Not sure what 'meds' is/are. Your lack of punctuation rendered your comment almost incomprehensible but that's pretty much normal for a know-nothing Kiss fan. Interesting, though, that you didn't dispute my assertions about your boy Gene. We all know what kind of human being he is...and you are very probably exactly the same. Why don't you just retire to the nice bedroom your parents have given you and listen to 'Kiss Alive Vol. 27' as you play with your Kiss face paint.
What about his wife who endured living with that huge chauvinist narcissist! Only wised up when she was leaving him. God Bless his wife another woman would have left his ugly ass.
Have really grown to respect Piers! Appreciate the wonderful "variety" of guests he's been presenting to us. He truly brings out the best (or worst if they are so deserved) in those he interviews. Another excellent program. Thank you, Pam (El Paso, TX USA)
The best interview on TH-cam platform I seen. Peirs Morgan has done too date.. The respect shown is just amazing thank you Peirs and Jean Simon's for sharing part's of his life and history. The Love ❤ You have for your mother is how we all should love not only our mother's but love human's, this world would be a much better place...
Now, this was one heck of a nice interview. One which every second was so worthwhile it was unbelievable. I have just finished it and I find myself thinking of loss. I mean, this is the son of one holocaust survivor and he has done so much with his life up to now. He has influenced so many people, he has made so many happy moments and memories for so so many throughout the entire world, and yet, he is merely one son of one survivor. What of the millions of others who could have simply had become to be but never? This is so sad if you think about it through this perspective. What a disgusting, irreplaceable loss that whole affair was.
His mother was a true lady. She never really spoke about the Nazis and her various incarcerations, or that she witnessed the systematic murder of all her family. she was approached by Shoah but she wouldn't give an interview. May her memory be a blessing to her family and all who knew and respected her.
What happened to his mother? She lived to an old age of 95!! More than I can say of all the German women and children that were bombed indiscriminately by the Allies . If the Americans, Russians and Brittish did not bombed the railway lines in Germany, a lot of people would not have died in the concentration camps. What about Hiroshima and Nagasaki?
@beatrixrode1082 she was in various concentration camps as a child in particular Mathausen where she witnessed all her family being selected and murdered in the gas Chambers. She lived with this in silence fir most of the rest of her life. She married a no good who eventually left her and she brought up her Son by herself. He looked after her till she passed away. The horror of what she went through she only revealed very late in life.
Piers, thank you for this segment - it really touches my heart! I lost so many of my family in the Holocaust as well. I admire Gene's mother so much. Your children are absolutely wonderful, Gene!! I love Nick and Sophie - they are wonderful. And I remember a segment when you went to Sweden of Norway, can't remember which, but you were with your son in a cafe and were eating brownies or something and Nick told you they were laced with Marijuana which is legal ther! You're reaction was priceless! I laughed so hard. God Bless you Dear Gene and your lovely family. You are wonderful.
I use to watch Gene Simmons TV show and like it very much. But I had no idea what his mother had went through and him to but not nearly what his mother went through! I have great respect for him and him sharing his story! Bless you sir!! Thank you Piers!
I loved Genes reality show and realized the kind of man he is. My kids were big KISS fans. When they were all grown men, I was able to take them to their first KISS concert! What a thrill. I so love Gene and his family!
Not a Kiss fan, BUT love Gene Simmons , he is a hell of a business man and a nice guy too! He knows what sells! He was a teacher , and also his mom was amazing. What a story they have.
We LOVE YOU GENE! I’m a HUGE FAN of KISS! I absolutely love how you explained the music culture! I was born in 73 and the last show I was able to be a part of was in 2020’s “KISS GOOD BYE”. An enormous THANK YOU TO MY BEST FRIEND, NEAL NANCE, for bringing me along. Tons and tons of work and talent! We had an amazing life time experience! The trip itself, the timing, and ofc to get to see KISS on NYE!! We have done a lot. That was the best of the best show for me! Totally unexpected and worth the long journey!🙏💖🙏
Not a KISS fan, although they have true timeless music anthems , I am a fan of Gene, even more so after this interview, what an amazing life story, great interview.
I've never been a fan of KISS but I've always thought Gene was a great guy, just from watching his show with his family. I wish everyone appreciated this country as much as he does!
What an excellent interview. The best I have seen in my 66 years. Piers you did excellent. Gene you shared a lot about who you are. I have always listened to your music but never for a moment would have thought that you are such an amazing, down to earth person you are.
Gene and KISS are real professionals. Even when the gigs and locations are probably not the best or a bit corny, KISS always show up and give their everything to bring the house down. Much respect. It's not hard to see why KISS has been as successful for so long. For as outrageous as the group is, they are 100% switched on.
Gene is an is a unique individual, he’s very down to earth and knows how to accept the craziness of this world . He hasn’t let his popularity and being famous go to his head. We need more artists to be this way. He’s a great family man and has molded into the gracious and non pretentious person his mother wanted if him!!❤ ❤❤❤
What an amazing story!! I wasn’t a big fan of Kiss, a bit too weird for me, but Gene’s retelling of his mother’s incarceration and how she survived?? Wow!!!Thanking Jehovah God that your mom survived!! and that you both were blessed to have had time together!
I was at The Anne Frank House in Holland and when the door to the place opens? You feel her there, you can’t speak or feel anything but her presence. When Gene tells his story of going there I can’t stop crying from the first few words cause it’s all true!
My first Halloween costume was a mask of Gene Simmons from Kiss back in 1978. I used to wonder why my mom chose (or let me) wear that lol. I loved the theatrics of Kiss but more than this, I can say, this man is the real deal and I am so honored. God bless his soul and journey.
I love the way Gene talks. He doesn't try to impress people with big words, he just States the facts and his opinion. Beautiful.
If ever there was a son who loved his mother, it's this man being interviewed right here. He took very good care of her!

@@alexsandell8260 No HAHA not me......
I used to watch Gene and Shannon’s reality show and it was fabulous. Loved how their children were so unspoiled and down to earth. I have a lot of respect for them as parents and people. Now I know the background of Genes life and love him even more… thx for this uncensored interview Piers!! 🥰
hahahhahah "unspoiled" Who are you people with these comments of as( kissing?

Gene treated Shannon like a doormat. Bragged about the 5 thousand women he slept with. No wife/GF is OK with that. Other than that. Nice guy.
You've gotta be kidding.
Not at all what I expected I grew up with these guys when they were just starting out, and I'm glad I took the time to watch this. Thank you Piers.
I’m very proud of him for being so open about his life 🤗
After seeing this interview, I have a lot of respect for Gene Simmons...and his mother. My God, what a life!
Hate to see
You go but I am sure it has been a good ride.
God bless…… thank
You for all the memories.
An astonishing human being full of soul, wisdom ... and a tongue that works just as well spewing song lyrics as it does life lessons.
Well said
I'm not a fan of kiss but this man is definitely a legend of rock.
What an incredible interview. You had me captivated from beginning to end with tears in my eyes to a smile on my face. Thank you!!!
This was an incredible interview. What an eloquent and decent man Mr Simmons is. It was wonderful to hear about his childhood and his wonderful Mother ❤

So good to see Gene being a humble man for a change. Great interview.
My thoughts exactly 💯 😊
His hair looks like brillo pads. Yeah you could have shined the Beatles shoes with your hair.
Well spoken intelligent man.
Very nice to see him not performing for camera.
He has always been Humble.. Also an entrepreneur for sure.. Think no drugs or drinking ever also..
This has been an awesome interview. Gene and KISS were the first rock and roll band I heard. Thanks, Piers!
"If you don't have a sense of history or where you came from you take everything for granted" - Gene Simmons
Well put! Articulate, clear, and common sense.
One of your best interviews ever. Iconic individual who gets down in the weeds with honesty.
Wow! Just wow! Prior to watching this interview in its entirety, I had no idea that Gene and his mother had to go through this. Now look at him, one of the biggest rockstars just doing what he loves and living day by day! Good for you!
I've never been a fan of Gene's but I've gained a great deal of respect for him when he talked about his children and his perspective on the world.
When they had the reality show it showed how down to earth they were

Same here. I'm truly impressed with the man.
What a class act! I just saw Gene, Paul and KISS in concert here in Vancouver last night. It was an unbelievable experience… the end of an era for me almost 50 years after I joined the Kiss Army.
Me too. It was my first ever live concert and first ever KISS concert.
Seeing Gene really took me back. My brothers and I used to play their Albums and my brothers even painted their faces on Halloween. I sure miss those days and my brother who has been gone now 3 years. Those were amazing days. Keep up your amazing life Gene.
My sincere sympathies for your loss. May your dear brother rest in peace...
This is Piers Morgan at his best, I am sure that I am not alone in wanting more of this type of content. Radiance.
Thanks for a great interview Piers. I've been a fan of KISS since 1980. I'm now 56 and still love them, huge part of my life. ❤❤
Go Louise 🙌
I’m 58, I first saw KISS in 1980 when I was 15, saw them again 1995, 2008 and then 2022. Greatest band ever!
This one was brilliant! I’ll probably re-watch it actually! Nice job Piers and team for getting people from all walks of life on this show! Thanks.
WOW! I did not know this about Gene Simmons. What a great story to hear. So proud of you and your mom Gene. I love to hear you say such great things about the USA. Kudos to you Gene. Thank you Piers for conducting such a great interview. I have a new found respect for Gene Simmons!
Peter Criss told of Genes major herpy problem. I wonder how many people he spread that to.
STORY, is key
He’s always been very patriotic, sharing his “only in America” attitude.
th-cam.com/video/b_WLsKQKrlM/w-d-xo.html
Well capitalism and democracy have been pretty good to him. Of course without his intellect and marketing skills he wouldn't be where he is, but also the fact that his family got asylum here from nazi Germany would give any man lifelong gratitude and patriotism. People call him a hack but he's a very interesting, smart guy. Just because he knows how to work the system to his advantage people don't like him.
I'm in awe of Mr. Simmons now - After so many years of seeing what we all saw as a Rock Legend, for good or bad.. Thank you for pulling back the curtain. So much more respect than ever before
What a legend....Loved this interview. Thank you Gene for sharing and being so humble ..thank you Piers for the interviews.
crazy how grounded and a down to earth guy Gene is. Being from such a megolith band, he is so humble, he worked hard for his success, good for him.
🤘🏼⚡️🤘🏼⚡️🤘🏼
The way Gene talks about his mother makes me think about my grandmother, I hope to see her again one day after it's my time to leave this world, because it took me a long time to realize I was raised by a hero or I should say heroine.
Absolutely amazing ! Thank you Piers for this interview. And Gene thank you for putting your life out there for us to see. God bless your mom.
His mom has past away. Just wanted you to know that. And Yes. He was a very good son!!
Well, I suppose he is if you believe capitalist ideology and are interested *only* in accumulating huge amounts of cash (by selling plastic images of yourself in that three-chord-wonders band you play in) and f*****g girls young enough to be your grand-daughter...
you need to increase your meds
No role moral what you on about.....this guy is pure evil.
I could listen to Mr Simmons all day. What a life. Godbless you and your Mother. ❤
What about his wife who endured living with that huge chauvinist narcissist! Only wised up when she was leaving him. God Bless his wife another woman would have left his ugly ass.
Kiss was my first concert, I'm 64! First interview seening him without makeup. Love jis down to earthiness. He and Shannon are so cute together.
Every time I him tell what happened to his mother, it brings tears to my eyes.

The horror of what she went through she only revealed very late in life.
