The dynamics of their personalities is crystal clear in this interview. Gene wanted so much to be taken seriously. Paul seems a bit torn between what Gene wants and the careless comedy of Peter and Ace. It was easy to see how that couldn't continue. That said, KISS was cutting edge and changed the rock scene forever, but they would have never made it without the gimmickry and makeup. They weren't the most talented band, but they did the most with what they had. I had the opportunity to meet them later in 1987 when they were unmasked. Peter had been replaced by Eric Carr and Ace was replaced by Bruce Kulick. We won tickets to see them in Beaumont, Texas. We also won backstage passes and were supposed to have dinner with the band. Got to meet Paul and Eric. Gene wouldn't even come into the room, and nobody knew where Bruce was. Then the promoters had us between the crowd barrier and the stage and Gene's bodyguard got all bent out of shape about it, so we had to move out from there. The show wasn't good. Wasp opened (those guys were weird), followed by Poison, and then KISS. We ended up just leaving early. On the upside, I got a date with the hot DJ at the radio station.

Ace IS the Best!!!
Never gets old......
25:40 ace talking about the space station pretty cool
Ace and Peter are great, Paul is kind of getting into it, but Gene...oh man. You can just see him steaming every time Ace cracks up laughing. It's the best interview I've ever seen.
The best KISS interview of all time.
Not being the center of attention, Gene looks upset at Peter and Ace.
Hands down, this is the fanciest interview I have ever seen. Great vibe, pure rock and roll 😂
Gene is fuming while Ace and Peter are enjoying themselves.
One of my favorite interviews of all time. Just Watching gene and paul And the aggravation build up is priceless. Ace is the man.
26:01 "i dont wanna get arrested" gotta love him
Yes, I too was a KISS freak in the 70's.☺
I remember seeing this in the TV Guide....time crawled by while I waited for the interview!
Tom: would you care to tell our audience what you were doing at 4 o'clock this morning?
Ace: no I don't wanna get arrested
lmao
Ace has the best laugh ever...
Ace cracks me up so much in this lol
Ace: You wanna talk to me?😂 just the way he said that and how he was looking at Tom Snyder😂 i dont know why that was so funny
Ace was the only reason why I went to see kiss on the destroyer tour and the only reason why I listen to kisses music he he was and still is the real deal
Same here. No Ace no Kiss
😡Gene🤨Paul😂Criss🤣Ace
6:42 first look of death 👀
Omg ACE was friggen hilarious
gene looked ridiculous trying to appear serious and evil...
Saw WASP in Pittsburgh. Blackie Lawless threw a raw steak into the crowd and the guy hit by it jumped on the stage and went after him. Show was delayed 30 minutes
Good old Ace!! Reminds me of the three Stooges.
Tom: "George and Peter and Paul and Ace..." 😄
Frehley's HILARIOUS 😂
Gene and Paul = No Fun Zone 😢😅😅😅
We saw them in Lubbock,Texas that night,Oct 31 1979.
