Great video. Thanks you for replying with this video to the comment I made on your previous video. It is highly appreciated. Incredibly educational and eye opening.
Yet head issues with the 1 VD are extremely rare,so maybe the engine engineers did know what they were doing. And many are tuned with huge increases in power and torque, and tow blocks of flats all day.
The Yanmar 6LPA 315HP is an FTE. Runs 30psi boost standard. In a marine application where it’s always under heavy load. Known for legendary reliability.
Great video. I’m looking at doing big end bearings on my FTE before I chase some more ponies. Is there a clear winner between the acl bearings and genuine? I feel like genuine should be the answer but a lot of people are saying acl. What’s your thoughts? Cheers
this why toyota stopped building full cast iron engines, aluminium is far cheaper to produce, work with and transport. Its also a question if any car manufacturer really still wants to build an engine which will last 500tsd km or more befor that motor needs a full rebuild. I have a 1HD-FT, 430thsd km and its still running really good, no extreme tuning just a intercooler and a modern turbo with 1bar boost. Those motors never been build for extreme power on the road (the marine versions are a different thing) but they are relaible
Whats not to understand? Toyota been doing dodgy shit designs for years. 2008, issues with air filter sealing, 2024, still the same dogshit air filter setup. I rest my case.
As a lay-person trying to learn as much as I can about the FTE these videos are invaluable nuggets of gold, thank you.
Awesome video, love the FTE’s and cannot stand when people boast about the V8 like it’s some incredible engine when really they are not.
So well explained, im looking forward to viewing more of your videos.
The 1HD FT has its place too. Maybe not quite as tuned but the simplicity and reliability has its place
Love the info on the fte’s. The more videos you do on these the better. Keep them coming
I love these technical explanations, many thanks for making the effort.

"What were they thinking" is a common response to modern engine design faults. Cheers
Great explanation Peter, love your work.

Another great easy to understand video
Thank you for sharing your insight. I hope to be able to have you rebuild a HDfte for me one day.
Great video 👍👍

Great videos.
What are your thoughts on the 12ht? They were quite an engine in there day, how do they stack up?
Good motor, injector pump was a bit how ya goin. Not really a power house engine but certainly better than a boat anchor 2H!
Great info 👍, how does the LC 300 compare in relation to the number of head bolts & gaskets.
Same as vdj

Curious to know your thoughts on strength of the 15b-ft / ftes in conparison the the 1hd's
I think toyota done their homework. 2jz has same bolt alignment as vdj
Great Video Peter. How is your Staff situation...?
How much boost is to much boost in the v8?
SIMPLE BUY A ISUZU DMAX PROBLEM SOLVED ....😊HAPPY DAYS
