@gibbs677bg This is old news. Jammers only work "IF" you have one. The vast majority don't have. Jammers have very limited range. Ukrainians are dropping grenades from higher altitude. A good operator is still very accurate. Jammers only work on 1 or 2 frequencies out of 100's of possibilities. Ukraine is already deploying drones that lock onto the target outside of range and when jammed still hit the target. They're also starting to utilize drones that now target the jammers. They'll become more prevalent. The U.S. has already developed advanced INS systems that don't require GPS or any external input and will soon have an accuracy of 1 meter. AI will soon make nearly all electronic warfare useless.

Russian EW is amazing as well as artillery. Overall I don't know if they have the us beat on the ground but I wouldn't be super surprised if they did. Us most definitely maintains air and naval superiority tho and I think from what we've seen we still have the best combined arms capabilities.

Ukraine is not the US, either. Russia is failing miserably, too, against an enemy that does not have a Navy or much of an Air Force. And this news overstates Russian electronic warfare capability. All those electronic warfare systems can be quickly taken out by anti-radiation weapons. The US already has those, and these will be supplied to Ukraine as soon as F-16s get operational.

They're not going to claim Ukraine as their own territory, it will only bring them closer to NATO border,. This story is a partial problem. Since the 1960s, NATO uses Inertial Navigation Systems that work without GPS, have a very high degree of accuracy and cannot be jammed. GPS is only used as a plus, to help cruise missiles and the like to verify their path and correct it's impact at the last moment.

Why didn't the Russians use jamming so extensively before? I think the reason is that they did not want to expose their jamming capabilities and also because of the costs of operating them, but now they are forced to do so because the war has become existential for them. this showed that American weapons that crushed weak countries are not super weapons and that they can be defeated by a country that has good military technology

This is old news. Ukraine is already fielding changes. Like drones that can change frequencies using different frequencies alternatively that differ from the jammers. They've recently introduced drones that lock onto the target before it enters the jammers range so even when jammed, it still hits the target.(A form of AI) They've also introduced drones that if jammed, switch to target the jamming system. Precision weapons work with both GPS and INS(Inertial Navigation Systems) Disable the GPS and the INS still hits within 30m. That's still close enough to destroy or at least damage the target. With Cluster munitions, within 30m is a hit. --------- Jammers are of limited supply and are frequency specific. Combining multiple frequencies is both expensive and complex, thus with few exceptions aren't available and will still be limited in the number of frequencies jammed. That the U.S. signed a contract for new hardware means one thing. The fix is in and ready to produce and deliver. However, it takes time to fill the pipeline. And you need to decide to upgrade those already deployed or just continue until the new systems arrive through normal channels. Note. The U.S. has an advanced INS system in the works with an accuracy of 1 meter. No external input required and 100% jam proof. Also, soon to start production is an AI system that once in the target area, can chase a moving target and even switch to a higher priority target of it's own volition. All capable of being fired from a moving transporter such as a HIMARS, thus should the enemy fire back, your no where near where you fired from.(production is scheduled to start in late 2025 or early 2026.
So this is the reason why the US is encouraging Zelensky to continue the war instead of suing for peace. The US is using it to test its weapons and gather data under various battlefield conditions. These are indeed very useful and priceless - many countries would pay for such data.
As the US led NATO is planning to improve its precision weapons against Russia EW systems, Russia will also upgrade, so at any point Russia will still be ahead of them. Ukraine better negotiate with Russia before it's too late.

All those electronic warfare systems can be quickly taken out by anti-radiation weapons. The US already has those, and these will be supplied to Ukraine as soon as F-16s get operational.

This story is a partial problem. Since the 1960s, NATO uses Inertial Navigation Systems that work without GPS, have a very high degree of accuracy and cannot be jammed. GPS is only used as a plus, to help cruise missiles and the like to verify their path and correct it's impact at the last moment.

I think the reason is that they did not want to expose their jamming capabilities and also because of the costs of operating them, but now they are forced to do so because the war has become existential for them.

Ukraine is already fielding changes. Like drones that can change frequencies using different frequencies alternatively that differ from the jammers. They've recently introduced drones that lock onto the target before it enters the jammers range so even when jammed, it still hits the target.(A form of AI)
They've also introduced drones that if jammed, switch to target the jamming system.
Precision weapons work with both GPS and INS(Inertial Navigation Systems)
Disable the GPS and the INS still hits within 30m. That's still close enough to destroy or at least damage the target.
With Cluster munitions, within 30m is a hit.

Jammers are of limited supply and are frequency specific. Combining multiple frequencies is both expensive and complex, thus with few exceptions aren't available and will still be limited in the number of frequencies jammed.
That the U.S. signed a contract for new hardware means one thing. The fix is in and ready to produce and deliver.
However, it takes time to fill the pipeline. And you need to decide to upgrade those already deployed or just continue until the new systems arrive through normal channels.
Note. The U.S. has an advanced INS system in the works with an accuracy of 1 meter. No external input required and 100% jam proof. Also, soon to start production is an AI system that once in the target area, can chase a moving target and even switch to a higher priority target of it's own volition. All capable of being fired from a moving transporter such as a HIMARS, thus should the enemy fire back, your no where near where you fired from.(production is scheduled to start in late 2025 or early 2026.
So this is the reason why the US is encouraging Zelensky to continue the war instead of suing for peace. The US is using it to test its weapons and gather data under various battlefield conditions. These are indeed very useful and priceless - many countries would pay for such data.
