- I decided to finally dig into my various guards of Star Wars. First is the GameStop exclusive that also showed up on Barne and Noble, the Hasbro Black Series Guards of Evil with the Elite Praetorian Guard, the Senate Guard, a Shadow Guard, and another Royal Guard. To make it a party I also look at the Amazon Exclusive Praetorian Guard. To round it all out, let's do some swapping.

Recieved mine roughly about a 2 weeks after force Friday and i gotta say, the senate guard really is the heart of the package. Just the overall different helmet sculpt and the clashing blue color among the other guards really made him standout. One of the best figures ive gotten in a while
I can totally see that. I love the Shadow Guard but there is something about those blues that just pop on the shelf.

Haha, yeah, that scene of the throne room in the trailer is a little bit off-putting. Cool, but weird.

I've always liked the guards. They're elites but that's all we know. I like that they're mysterious (I know the old canon had some comics about the Royal Guard)
Crimson Empire, from what I remember, was great, well-worth a read.

I like the helmet designs of the Praetorian Guards, they seem to draw inspiration from different periods of historical warriors. I'm seeing Spartan, "Jousting" Knights helmet, Japanese Jingasa/Spanish Conquistador(?) influences.
I could be completely wrong in indentifying the helmets though.

I was bummed the PG in the set had such a small weapon. But I got over it, because STAR WARS, New figs, love being a fan.
Oh yeah, maybe they are more like knives? Doesn't make him less of a badass, just doesn't match up with what I already had from Figuarts, which I had gotten used to.

the Royal Guard stand alone version is bright red (robe and mask) versus the weird orange red (robe and mask) for the Royal Guard from this 4 pack. Just want to let pppl know if you guy want a matching pair for the Emperor

Another great review...I still need the Amazon exclusive but I have the rest...I like them alot...other than snoke with throne these all are really the only figs that stood out to me with the new stuff plus the vehicles of course...I hope the movie is better than the figs are so far...might make me like the figs alot more...I'm just ready for the original prequel figs next year...if this movie is a flop ill be done with figs from that trilogy no matter how cool...

Bandai should of engineered the elbow joint to bend perfectly with the armor piece sliding UP into the one above it! So it lifts and hides completely under the one above it. That woulda been genius and looked normal when they aren't bent. The Black Series guards here do it good but my idea would be even better. 😉
Jsuk I haven't seen ONE Pretorian guard yet in the stores. I only saw wave 1 the opening week of Force Friday.

Great review, you have an army of guards now. So do you have any plans for the spare praetorian guard body since you wanted the others to be uniform? I have a guard missing his right shoulder piece entirely & was just wondering.

I got this from Barnes and Noble. I used a 20% coupon and have a 10% discount from being a member. Came out to a little over $50 I believe

Someone help! I got this pack and the shadow and senate guards legs are both super stuck and won’t move the rubber hinge moves before the do. I don’t want to break it. Anyone know what I could do?

I had some questions about the many major brands out there for StarWars figures. Recently I was considering starting a collection with StarWars figures, but I noticed that they were all quite pricey, especially a brand like figuarts. Do brands like black series, figuarts, and Mafex usually come out in stock cheap around the 20s-40s then go up in price? I’ve been trying to get hold of some figures, but I’ve noticed that they were very expensive in the 60s and above. Does this usually go with all figures or is it like some sort of exclusive figure? Thanks!
Black Series is usually around $20, Figuarts $50-$60, and then MAFEX has crept up into the $60s. A lot can still be had for that but some of the more popular ones or ones that didn't get distributed as much can get high. Black Series Bossk and Anakin Skywalker, Figuarts Maul and Jedi Luke. Actually, I can't think of many MAFEX that shot up, even their best ones like Fett and Vader.

I finally grabbed the normal release Praetorian, and ordered the amazon one along with the FO trooper. Trying to hold off on this 4 pack cause I really just want the Praetorian and not the other 3.
Also I heard the Walmart Exclusive Kylo was going in and out of stock on their site all day today. Plans on getting it?
If I run across it in-store, maybe, but with the single card and SHF I don't feel the need to hunt it.

Woa man, you’re all set with the Praetorians! Lol I really like this set, but I just cannot do $90 for the 4 pack... that is 10 bucks over retail price for the four of those figures, but this is at GameStop. It’s the only place I’ve seen it at so far and we don’t have a Barnes and nobles around here. But, I’ll have to save up some pennies and probably just scout on the Internet. MTFBWY buddy!

When talking about the Praetorian guards I was just using variations on the nicknames you created for them (overbite, underbite and roofy), but from now on Roofy is going to be known as Double Lame. Which works because that one is my least favourite design. I think my favourite is underbite.

I really don’t like the design choices for the Praetorian Guards, particularly the arms. Those arms only remind me of a Cuban dancer’s ruffled sleeves. Like Ricky Ricardo or Peter Allen.

I hate how they make 6 inch figures all the time and have forgotten about 3.75, like there are so many characters that aren't in black series 3.75 it's just ridicoulous and it's been a long time with no new cool characters like these senate guards etc

With things like Snoke and the Praetorian guards I'm getting a lot of OG Trilogy vibes. I'll probably wait to pick the film up when it comes out on DVD. I didn't really like Force Awakens or Rogue 1. Then again I'm also not a fan of Edwards or Abram's films in general. That's right! I said it! Fight me!

Haha, no fight here. I'm just one of those guys who is easily pleased, got nothing against anyone who has problem with a movie. That's why I don't review anything but toys. If I can sit and stare at the screen for the length of whatever I'm watching it's a win in my book.

Not a fan of the praetorian guards designs they look so tacky. Just seems like they tried to hard with it.
Daniel Lopez i don't like roofy. The other one has the death star lazer guy design, what i really like but maybe not for a guard.
The Abyss right I mean I can see the evolution from the imperial guards and the concept of the knights of ren spilling over. Just doesn't do it for me it's really jaggy and un pleasing to the eye. The weapons are interesting gives them individuality.
