- Oh man, when I was carrying the San Diego Comic Con exclusive Star Wars Black Series Grand Admiral Thrawn away from the Hasbro Toy Shop booth I was thinking "I gotta get this home somehow." The situation was made worse by the purchase of the Rey and Luke two-pack and a big ol' Landspeeder. But I'm definitely happy, Thrawn being my favorite out of most of my SDCC purchases.

The Canan mask was from the last episode of season 2, where he used it as an impromptu bandage after maul slashed his eyes out.
I was looking on eBay at the exact moment you said "Don't go paying high prices for this".
So realizing you're right I closed the window and the final pic of Thrawn surrounded by his trophies pops up. Damn if that wouldn't look cool on the shelf that way. Argh!
I'll hold off though. While I agree that he'll only come with a pistol at retail it would be great if Hasbro would at least throw that Temple Guard helmet in.
Haha, the whole presentation and accessories are impressive, if I didn't already have it I'd be freaking to get it. But no one ever said I follow my own advice....
Awesome! The Grail does indeed also appear in Thrawn's office in Rebels, along with a bunch of other cool Easter eggs. :)

This is an AWESOME set. So many interesting things come with it, from the grail to the Hakskeekah stone from The Dark Crystal! How cool is that?!

The chalice is in thrawn's office in the show and fun fact, the arc of the covenant shows up in the clone wars show.
Snagged this version on hasbro toyshop this morning while it was up. Lucked out and managed to get if before it sold out. Pretty stoked on it.

Hopefully with Kanan being able to wear the mask like on Malachor we get a release of Rebels Maul, or at least a Maul rerelease since the parts to make Malachor Maul are spread around both Marvel Legends and Black Series figures, except the hilt and legs perhaps

I just got the CMR Gree BS figure today and I can't help but noticing how much of a higher quality his paint apps are. It seems like they put a ton more effort into his overall quality control vs. Thrawn's. I still love the figure, but Gree is epic.
I remember at the Celebration Gree's paint job being a big selling point, that it's the most paint apps on a Black Series figure ever.
That lighrsaber hilt looks exactly like Ezras from seasons 3 and 4

The Jedi who the light saber belonged to (not even gonna try to spell her name) was Mace's Padawan then Kanan's master. She was on the council in the Phantom Menace. She's the one with dark skin and gems on her face

Great review brother!!! He's an awesome figure but for an exclusive and the price they charge for him those paint mistakes are inexcusable. He should be perfect. But all said he did turn out pretty good. Congrats on getting one...
Hasbro needs to make that Jedi Temple Guard in 6 inch Black Series. The Gree helmet is this set is different than the 6 inch Black Series. it's white with the Thrawn, Silver on the Toys R Us release.
Hey it's not a Kyber Crystal it's a "Chipped Ritual Stone". Qui gon gifted it to Obi-Wan, then Obi-Wan gifted it to Anakin but then somehow Thrawn acquired it.
Just curious man, what's the source on this, I'm not familiar with this particular item at all.

zeb and chopper I payed for more cause they had more stuff/bigger etc..! but they are over charging for Thrawn.
That stone thing you said looks like a Kyber stone, looks like the Trial by Stone thing from Dark Crystal.

Oo, maybe, it's been a loooooong time since I've seen the Dark Crystal.
Like many black series figures, I think of how much better it would look if they weren't wearing leather. All that work for the (correctly) tossed packaging, but no matte spray for the figure's uniform to tone down the shine.
And oddly enough, the boots a matte, unlike other officers.
*facepalm* I know the SDCC reveal of using SH Figuarts face printing excited a lot of people, but its the rest of the figures they have to work on. Like the abovementioned matte spray for the non-leather-like clothing. Or the stupid looking knee joints. Or elbows that won't bend above 90 degrees or shoulders that don't allow you to hold lightsabers in both hands. There's a lot they would need to do to win me back from Bandai model kits and SH Figuarts and I just don't see Hasbro being up to the challenge.
Is it possible that the Gree helmet was made to fit over Jango's head?
More than likely, didn't even think of that.
If I win the lottery I will do the same thing and dedicate rooms to my figures for now it's my two shelves and a couple hundred six inch figures.

I know I'm late but I really bet you can use that Commander Gree helmet on the custom cast black series Gree head. Just out it on a white trooper and paint the head. If it works you can have a camoless Gree.

Flip!! That last shot with the Imperial Death Troopers will have me getting two Grand Admiral Thrawn's. We're you able to score any other SDCC exclusives for trade?
Not for trade, other than this I only grabbed the Landspeeder and the Rey/Luke two pack.
The Novel Thrawn was epic! He wasn’t so pretentious, n more blue collar, he just did his job, was very inventive, and worked wonders with the small remnant empire against the huge New Republic. Though he died from one of his workers who figured out he enslaved his alien race. Thrawn was also found stranded on a derelict planet by Vader himself. I think the Chiss race exiled him just like Zod from Superman 2. Thrawn was around the time of ROJ, but Palaptine had him out in the outer rim where he was away from the main empire...cuz Palpatine is a racist prick. And he is, not my opinion, to each their own.
And when Vader n emporer died, Thrawn took it upon himself to take charge of the leftover empire “remnants”. Cuz Thrawn was the highest ranking Imperial then.

Damn I wanted this the most from SDCC but couldn't attend oh and the SH figurarts Kaio-ken Goku, I'm assuming this will be at the Hasbrotoystop in a few days right? I don't know about the Goku from Bluefin.
I think the Star Wars exclusives were pushed back to August? Not sure though.

I don't understand your disappointment with the box? You could of waited for the regular retail version. Compared to the past few sdcc black series exclusives this is def as good if not better. Member the sdcc jyn erso, or first order trooper exclusives now those were bad packaging and even fewer accessories
I have nothing against the box, it was cool and did it's job, only that it wasted a lot of space. But I buy stuff for the figure and the accessories, the plastic. Why would I display something I can't mess with? This is better than past exclusives, I agree.
Man idk how you can toss all your packages. I can understand, in a way. But ever since I started collecting again (last year) I keep my figures in their boxes for the most part. I don't have anywhere to display them yet but even when I do I'll get a box to put the boxes in. Just think about it robo, some of these figures that we as collectors collect will be worth alot of mula at some point.
Elite Gshaw I'd rather just enjoy the figure than watch it sit and gather dust only to make an extra $20 years from now.
I still use my figures. I have the boxes, but someday I'll just pitch them or cut the artwork out and throw the rest away. These Black Series figures? Unless it's Revan or the first few waves, this line's figures aren't too rare.
Everyone collects their own way, and I'm completely good with that. Hell, I used to collect carded. But one day I realized that I never get rid of anything, I love the toys themselves, why the hell do I have them stashed away in their little prisons? It's like loving Doritos, buying Doritos, but never eating the Doritos. No, I'm all about the plastic. Packaging can be cool and all that but to me, collecting carded is more about the chase and the find, otherwise you can just have pics of the figures on the computer or hanging up and it's the same thing. That's not me disparaging anyone's collecting habits, just how I think of it and why I open everything.
The messed up paint apps are karma for trashing the box.
