I got my hands on this four pack from Gamestop a few weeks ago and I finally got around reviewing it! You may also be able to find it from Barnes and Noble... and maybe a Disney Store. I guess it's not super exclusive.

Before I get a million comments. I realized while watching the video. Just literally right now. That the left hand is shaped weird because it holds the tiny gun. It holds the tiny gun just right. It doesn't really affect my over all score. But just know. I get it.

This has to be one of my personal favorite 4 pack, my personal favorite has to be that Praetorian Guard with the double blade

I always assumed the bios on the back of the box referred to the past tense because Star Wars is set "a long time ago..." I may be wrong but that's my interpretation. Thanks for such an in-depth review! I'm really excited for this one, but it costs a small fortune in the UK! Definitely looks worth the pennies though!

I think the Senate Guard figure is supposed to be what they look like during the Clone Wars, hence it is a TCW figure. Just adapted for live action in the same manner Rex and Wolffe are. That's why he has the fin as opposed to the feathers on his helmet and the visor closing off his face. Awesome review!
yeah maybe. But its also a pretty good likeness of the Senate Guards from RotS.
Hey I was just watching ROTS and remembered this video and wanted to tel you that when obi wan and anakin get back to the senate building after crashing the ship in third shot you can see the blue royal guards with those helmets so this figure is from ROTS not phantom menace so it IS accurate

Yeah I found out after i recorded. I corrected myself a few times, but good eye. I still would prefer the episode 1 guard look. Or an alternate helmet.
Mike Kaess yeah I mean alternate heads are really needed in the black series I think. Besides like the anakin I think more figures should have alternate heads.

Wish they used more intricate fabric on this one rather than a thin and cheap textured looking one. Satin Shantung may look good on this guard since it has a decent thickness and gloss, however a matte finish would definitely look gorgeous and more accurate looking like in the movie.
Yeah a nicer fabric would have been better for sure.

Hmm, the single release praetorian guard has a plastic, rubber like material for the lower skirt, I wonder why this is different (apart from the head), just makes it stand out more next to the others.

I'm hoping we get an Episode 1 version of the guard as well. I won't hold my breathe but since all it would be now is a different head sculpt I'm keeping my fingers crossed.
yeah, i would definitely love them to tweak the head and give us something more episode 1 accurate. but then like i said, we would need some figures to go with it. and ultimately.. that's kinda boring.

Another great video mike...I preorded this set the second I saw it...and have been very happy with it...onw thing that I want to add that's very important and probably will raise your articulation score for the praetorian guard...if you look closely on each arm one ring on each arm will have two little notches on its surface...the rings directly above the ring with the notches are where each of your double jointed elbows are located...yep double jointed elbows...and when located and bent right easily get 90° bends...hope this helps
+Ham and Jam thanks! And thanks for the explanation of the arms! I played around with it and now have it figured out. I still think the articulation is pretty hindered by the sculpt, but that definitely makes it a bit better.
Took me a little while to notice that too! But once I found it, the double jointed elbows are better than some of the single jointed figures, even with the hindering sculpt. All 3 of my praetorians are holding their weapons at 90 degrees or better. Notches pointed down (as if they were the elbows themselves).

I love it. My old guild from Star Wars Galaxies was called the Dark Side Praetorians. I was lucky enough to be the guild leader. I guess I still am in SWTOR. I wished they had done the blue senate guard armor for galaxies. Going to order this now.

Pretty fun still. There are lots of players still and the new story arcs were great the Eternal Empire story arcs get real fun. Some pretty cool new movie videos. The SWG emulator is also doing pretty good too they added back in the Jedi village now if you ever played that.
Just bought this today at my GameStop for 20 bucks. I’m so happy and probably gotten around 400 to 500 dollars worth of black series for around 100 dollars. I think that GameStop clearances prices are giving 50% off the already 50% off. Because my GameStop in the mall is only 50% of original price.
yeah! i've been tempted to buy the Snoke Throne a few times for $10 just to have a few extra Thrones laying around. Super good deals out there.
Mike Kaess I found Kylo Ren throne room at Walmart for 11 dollars. Can’t wait to get all of them setup but I’m going to have to buy something else to display them with now that I ended up with so many at once. Also got the Darth Vader helmet for 30 dollars at Walmart on clearance. I’d say I easily have over 500 + dollars worth of Black series and I’ve got maybe 150 invested.

Great vid, I thought I'd let you knwo in the downstairs area. So I am already a subscriber and my feedback is that I like what you did here. The figs are good too. I would like to buy them, but here they are about $40 per figure so...maybe.

I have that pack and with my blue guard I have to use a lot of strength to turn the head but the head still turns

ugh. i guess i can look at his video. :) thanks for the heads up. I played with both versions for a while and cant make heads or tales of the arms.
Mike Kaess at the elbows are two rings / notches. Turn them around, as If those notches were his elbows. With those notches facing down, bend at the two rings above those notches. The bottom ring is the first elbow joint, the top ring is the second elbow joint. Even with the sculpt hindrance, they have double jointed elbows and can hold their weaponry in 90 degrees or better. It's fantastic engineering.
Hi Mike, just sub to your channel after watching this and your top 10 of 2016, no Gamestop here and only saw it at an independent toy store for 200 bucks, it is really a great set..

Mike Kaess there is a way I know of to improve the articulation by cutting a slit in the rubber I wouldn't recommend it though
i wish the seventh guard praetorian was available separately, the helmet is much better than the others

Damn you really missed the facts on the senate guards. First comparing them to the phantom menace ones, then thinking the underarmour is the same as the senate commandos. It is real accurate.
Yeah I really messed up some of the facts on the senate Guard. I went in assuming Hasbro was just trying to cheap out, but it turns out I was actually wrong.

Sometimes its soooo hard collecting the Black Series because of the endless onslought of figures plus the Exclusives that its hard to keep up. There is no way I can get everything but I will try and on a good note great review.

+GRIMACE gaming I have a hard time paying more than $20 for a figure. So if it was a 4 pay, $80 is the most I’d WANT to pay. But if it’s an exclusive from GameStop or something it will probably be $90, so I would pay that because I had to. But I would definitely buy that.

Lol so alot of you might hate me for this but I got the same figures for $20 lol I work at mall as security and in the store think geek they had those for $99 the same box of all 4 but now cause of the new movies and all have gone down to $79 then the store cut them down to 50% off the clearance price so they turned out to be $40 for each but using my 50% off employee discount cause I work as security and I help them alot with shoplifters i got them for $20 each so I ended up buying one set that I've open and another that I'll keep in the box lol but what do yall think lol

You even posted pictures that show the arms of the costume and that the arms of the figure are wrong (larger open sleeve v.s. tight sleeve tucked into the gloves)

The Genndys Clone Wars Volume 2 has a moment where Grievous cuts the robes off of one and it is similar to an officers tunic in blue with black pants, so maybe the same as the pilots of the frigate from the begnning of TPM.
The Shadow Guard is also obviously completely different from the games where it was a mix of copper Stormtrooper armor parts on a black suit and not full black.
i meant in the movie. We never really saw it in the movie full on. Just glimpses. But yeah, there are canon instances of seeing what they looked like underneath, and it didn't look like this figure.
This might be a really stupid question, but on my Praetorian Guard there is an oily sort of residue. How do I fix this?
Sounds like mold release. You can take the cloth off and clean it in warm soapy water.

Hey Mike what do you think of a four pack consisting of Admiral Piett, General Veers (in Hoth AT-AT uniform), Episode III R.O.T.S. Tarkin, Because I heard they're making an Episode I A.N.H. (Peter Cushing) Tarkin, and finally a new and improved Emperor Sheev Palpetine in his Episode III R.O.T.S attire, complete with Sith lightning, lightsaber, and interchangeable heads (Pre and Post Sith lightning damage). I think this would be a kick ass four pack for any fan, especially those fans that would like to increase their leadership role collections. Anyway, I love this Guard Four Pack, Though I wish there was something different about the Return of the Jedi Royal Guard, from the one they already put out. Love your videos bro! Keep em coming!

+The 3lder it’s a very very rich blue according to my color blind assisting app on my phone. It probably looks purple on video because of how ridiculously blue it is, the camera has a hard time picking it up.
