  • Median nerve glides, median nerve flossing, and median nerve stretches should be done very carefully. Don't overdo the glide or flossing movements because that can cause more irritation. More nerve glides and nerve flossing: • Neural Glides for Ulna...
Median nerve gliding or nerve flossing is when you are moving the median nerve at each end together. This helps break up scar tissue or adhesions that might be causing pain. It can also help if you have a nerve compressed somewhere. Make sure not to force any of the movements, and try to use proper technique.
The last movement is more of a stretch on the median nerve since you are pulling away at both sides. So if you feel any pain, you might not be ready for it yet.

I could cry right now! 14 years ago I had elbow surgery due to a disease that caused my joint to crumble. When they were cleaning out the debris they nicked my medial nerve. In the process it left over 1/2 my dominant hand numb. I still struggle with loss of function, numbness, and muscle loss in all three fingers. There are spots that are no longer numb but about 1/4 of it is still numb. I did these exercises and my hand felt amazing afterwards!! So glad I looked this up finally, hoping it helps stimulate my nerve and help the healing process along. Thank you!!

The amount of relief I feel after 3 days of doing these specific nerve exercises is incredible! I am currently getting Physical Therapy for a pinched nerve and my PT just added median nerve glides to my list of exercises last week. I found your video to make sure I was performing it correctly and gradually tried each of these nerve exercises as shown. I feel so much better in the past few days and actually getting complete sensation in my index finger which has been numb and tingly for about a month. Such a helpful resource if videos on your channel; Thank you Dr. Jo!! ☺️🙏

Gonna give these a try I had hand surgery last October and been using a splint for almost 2 and a half months now. Just had splint removed now for about 3 weeks now. Doing putty exercises for strengthening. Been noticing that my hand and fingers get tingly and numb a lot now with some swelling . Could this be from using that splint and everything all weak from immobilization. Could that cause carpal tunnel median nerve flare up.

What would you recommend if the median nerve pain is mostly from the proximal joint of the thumb and feels like high voltage is going to blow out that joint and tip. I am a mile fascial specialist I have never had anything like this happen before I cannot close my hand because of the nerve pain that is coming from the median nerve. It happened overnight when I got up to go to the bathroom and grab the door handle. I cannot pick up a piece of toilet paper or do anything with my right hand now

Depending on how long someone's had an injury, it can often take several weeks of consistent treatment before getting long term relief.

Hey HNY 🎉. Dealing with pain top inside elbow forearm . 4 yrs bricklayer . Can’t work full time . System is just pain that radiates from same spot on both arms 🤷‍♂️. Doesn’t bother me unless I’ve worked really hard . So no resting pain. And no tingling pain just pain no finger tingling pain . Any idea cheers

    Hello Doc Jo,
Please guide me. I always have mild pain on my left side (left shoulder, left back, tricep, and I feel it travels down to my ring finger. Sometimes I have mild swelling on the neck (front left side). Recently, my ring finger was bent automatically and I could not straighten it up. Doctor said it is due to pressure or injury to soft tissues. Apart from this I have Acid Reflux. Pease let me know if all these could be connected? I showed to ENT specialist and other doctors, they said it is pinched nerve. But then it keeps coming and going. Please advise. Thank you so much. I am so happy to find your channel and trying nerve glides demonstrated by you.
    Thank you and regards,
    Sayalee from India

Unfortunately, I don't know that answer since I can't evaluate you. It could be a few different things, and everyone is different. If there is any way you can see a physical therapist in person, they should be able to help you figure out a specific program for you and help answer your questions.

Thanks! Nerve glides should only be done once or twice a day with only about 10 reps at a time since nerves can get irritated pretty easily.
