I have a question, I don't feel any pain or tingling. I just feel numbness so should I stop? Or is it okay to keep going because it's not painful? Or does the numbness count as tingling?
I can feel the exact spot that the nerve is bothering me. It's near my elbow on my forearm(but the underside of my forearm).

*Can anyone please help me?* I've developed the condition when I'm practicing baby freeze in breakdance without warming up. The nerve connecting my arm and torso began to hurt and produce a tingling sensation. The tests definitely worked as I experienced pain from them but I didn't get any pain relief (yet, hopefully). I don't know if I'm looking at the right section.

      Dear Dr. Jo,
Would one expect the elbow to hurt more with any of these? Not the little finger - just the elbow? Thanks-

Same, I came here to look for some exercises, it's been tingling through my pinky for around 5 days now and is starting to affect the ring finger. I thought maybe I had been holding my phone for too long as I've used it more now than ever before, my PC also broke at the start of lockdown - hence why I had to use the phone. Just starting these exercises today so hopefully I get a result and avoid doctors 😬

I'm an artist and I've developed this in both my arms now, because when my right arm gave up the ghost, I started using my left to draw to finish my honours project at uni.
Been to a couple physios, all tell me it'll be fixed in a few weeks, then get surprised when it doesn't. I am no longer surprised. These stretches are reminiscent of a few things they've said, but the physios didn't tell me not to push the stretches so hard. I'll give it a go, but 2 years into this and I'm thinking my best option is to just manage the pain. I am 23. I feel like I'm too young for this. :/

Nah fam, i've been where you are and doing these nerve stretches will certainly help. I've been in a time where my ulnar nerve was really pinched and I couldn't draw for like a year, it was horrible. You got to do stability(Exercise i.e Strengthening),Mobility(Stretching) and learning to rest. You got to find those trigger points in your body, could be your neck or arm where its pinching your nerve. You'll get better, just need to find that tight spots.

@@danielmiranda.47 It was almost immediately after performing them. They would come back the next day and I had to repeat the exercises for a week or so and now it's not bothering me anymore. It was really weird, I'd wake up in the middle of the night and my pinky and ring finger could only be closed all the way or open all the way, my fingers just wouldn't cooperate otherwise and it had that funny bone sensation up and down my forearm and those fingers. Now it's gone and I've forgotten to do them, probably should start again for preventative measures.

DoctorJo I have severe medial epicondylitis (golfer's elbow) on my right arm from years of wrestling as well as lots of push-ups while in the military. It's basically become chronic, but it flares up from time to time whenever I push too hard with exercising. Very frustrating. Thank you soooooo much for videos on these nerve glides!!! While it doesn't cure my golfer's elbow, it really helps it and my arm feels better and looser after doing them. It's an amazing therapeutic modality. Thank you for sharing your knowledge.

I worked in the backyard. Had some heavy lifting and I noticed a strange feeling in my elbow. That was a week ago... for the whole week my little finger and partially my ring finger are numb. It goes along the lower side of my forearm. Pretty annoying. I hope this will help. Have an dr appointment on monday, but I dont expect much of him...

Hi 12 days ago i slammed the soft area between the elbow and funny bone into the corner of a wood frame - after excruciating pain for the first 10min and feeling like I was on the verge of vomiting , the numbness and electricity died down in my arm and it felt somewhat back to normal - I’ve been keeping a log since then of activities that seem to cause pain/discomfort and for the most part I’m able to do everything normally even work out with weights - but I noticed with prolonged guitar playing (having my arm bent for long periods of time) seems to activate a pain in the area of my injury - on the 11th day after my injury I tried to do gentle nerve flossing exercises for the ulnar nerve and noticed that when I went to the “salute position” there was a tightness and I couldn’t reach to my forehead - that very night my elbow area was tender and just laying down brought pain in the area - (it seemed to get worse after the nerve flossing exercises) I was wondering who I should see for this issue - any medical advice would be greatly appreciated thank you

I got sick last week, just the flu/cold, but along with it came the numbness tingling in my right pinky a bit in the ring finger as well as , outside of the right hand. So not sure if a symptom of the flu/cold, or from the coughing, or just slept weird. Am going to be giving these a try hoping it returns to normal. Cheers

I have a pressure /numbness in my trapezoid area, like upper shoulder blade and the tingling or rather pressure numbness inside of my palm same side under the fourth and fifth finger. So am loving this video on gliding or flossing , the most difficult part is actually the easy does it , but I am learning that less is actually more here , with nerves contra muscles thank you ! Im not even sitting at my pc these days , because angling the arm to rest on the table and use the keyboard sort of activates it even more.
It came from over-doing it over several days lifting stuff down an attich opening , over-stretching the arms downwards with too much weight "just gotta get it done and fast!" and then adding repetitive cleaning circular movements the next day , with a lifted arm. Double whammy.
    What a mistake !!

I hit my ulnar nerve on the edge of wood table with extreme force - it’s been a month and my finger still feel a little stiff in the morning and extended bending of my elbow while playin guitar aggravates it more - I’ve seen a doctor who performed tests and he said it could take one to 2 months to recover - but he was confident I’d be fine - my question is: is it normal to still feel these pain symptoms after a month ?

I have this Medi-Rub massager...is that okay to use? Is getting a neck/ upper body massage advisable. I can still do Zumba exercises which involves hand bending, elbow movement? My ring finger, pinky started getting numb a week ago. Haven’t gone to see the doctor yet, but emailed him and sent him pictures when I did the the “socket position” test. I wear the elbow immobilizer at night and during the day I try to put it on as needed. Please advise. Thank, Dr Jo!

You're welcome. Unfortunately, I don't know the answers to your questions since I can't evaluate you. It's really different from person to person depending on how severe your case is and how your body reacts to therapy. Did you have a specific injury? That could be a number of things.

I have my ulnar nerve irritated or damaged like half an year ago after repairings at home. I tried cremes for muscles, I took anti-inflammatory medication, vitamins, supplements and tried some exercises and so far I think that the exercises are the ones that are helping the most , but I still can't get rid of this. I don't have any pain, it's just that my grip has been affected a bit and during sleep I get this numbness in the fingers when I bend my arm a little bit during sleep. It's not super annoying as I have adjusted but it's being 6-7 months already and it's not getting away...

Puppy pulling hard on leash while walking injured the wrist on the right hand. Been having the numbness of the pinky, ring, & side of the middle finger. Also feeling a tightness of the forearm muscle as it nears the elbow. Will try these flossing techniques (each one over the course of 3 days) to see which one will help with the tightness of the forearm & numbness of the fingers. As a cartoonist, who is right handed, I don’t want this to injury to interfere with me being able to produce my comic strip.

2:02 Hey doctor Jo 2:02 my pinky feels so numb and tingly while doing this exercise..its as if it's going to tear if I do it, but as soon as I release it, I feel relaxed. I've located the pain it was in my right rhomboid and then it got stuck in my right scapula, the point that connects to the shoulder and it's not going away from there since a week.

My hand is like sensitive to the touch from my pinky to my wrist and it doesn't hurt most of the time, it feels like when your on a rollercoaster and kind of tingly but only like near the webbed area between my pinky and ring finger on the left side of my body. It's been consistent and intense for like a whole day now I couldn't sleep last night because of it. I have carpal tunnel, but its not bad at the moment and I've never felt this sensation in my hand before.

I started doing this exercises and within about a week it was completely gone. Thank you so much

It's getting a little rough when i put my arm on table to do computer work and also when i take a bike ride . Maybe its because of how i sleep. but anyway i'll try your exercise to see if they help me
