I have got numbness in my arm after a long hammer curl hold in my gym last week. And now, i feel as if my nerve is gliding when I perform hammer curls. I don't have any pain, and numbness has also gone away, also there is no reduction in my strength levels. Just a feeling of gliding nerve in my wrist in making me worry a bit. Should I perform this excercise to make my wrist nerve settle down ?
Wow! Thanks doctor - I’ve been having a dang bad pain in my right thumb for about four years. Came across your video and thought I’d give it a shot. The pain is almost gone after one time thru, and I can’t believe it! Felt some little pops and pulls in my neck, and then my thumb loosened up real good. Thank you a million for sharing your knowledge 🙏
Thank you, Dr. Jo. I've tried these exercises and they are relieving the stiffness and soreness effectively. Will the nerve return to normal as long as I keep doing these exercises on a regular basis?
Thanks for the free advice...been in pain for about a year. Worked out too much. Shoulder and elbow have been popping with constant nagging pain. Mostly in shoulder. Thank you.
I’ve been dealing with a radial nerve injury due to using crutches over the last 4-5 days due to Achilles tendinitis. I also have a L5 herniated disk. Pain, pain and more pain. My question...what position should I be resting my arm in while sitting and laying down? Thank you!
Hello Dr, I have been suffering from stinging in my index finger since a month.. yesterday after multiple of xrays drs have informed me that my neck is stiffed and might suffer from nerv damage/irritation. I immediately remembered that a month ago I had an awful experience at the massage centre where theyve applied pressure too roughly.. could this exercise help? Or what do you recommend me to do? Drs have provided me with CLOFEN cream and muscadol.. but requested nerv test.. what can I do? Im stilling having stinging sensation..
Hi! Thank you for the information you offer. I ve seen your videos on radial, median and ulnar nerves flossing. Can I do all of them one after the other? Or space them in the day? My main problem are ulnar and median but I think adding radial flossing for prevention since I play piano and work a deskjob. What do you think, ten reps of each would be fine?
You're welcome. I would spread them out, at least when you first start doing them. Nerves can get irritated pretty easily, and some really work all of them.
Hi DoctorJo, Are these exercises particularly for Radial nerve palsy? I've broken my upper arm bone and I have lost movements with my wrist and fingers. Thank you
Hello Dr. Jo. Thanks for the video. Even though I don't have any pain and don't need to do these glides I find your videos interesting. Pet your pack for me. Most dogs seem to want all the lovin they can get. I have one that doesn't want it very often but she does want it once in awhile. I always enjoy seeing your dogs in the videos.

I’m super scared ! I just somehow damaged my radial nerve and have drop wrist not being able to lift my hand or fingers has me very scared as my career and hobby’s all require strong hands /arms :( It’s only been 4 days but no improvement so I went to ER and they where not very encouraging.. going to a specialist next
I'm going through the same thing, woke up one day (almost 3 weeks ago now) and my right wrist/fingers won't extend/stretch all the way out. And are EXTREMELY weak. I'm the lead guitarist in a metal band, and am so confused as to what's happening to me. The ER was about as helpful as, "Well, it may work again OR... it may NEVER work again"...like gee thanks how very insightful and reassuring that is. *sighs* 🤕🤕🤕
Will these help alleviate radial tunnel syndrome? Do you have any other exercises or stretches you would recommend? Thanks for all your videos- they are great!
Thank you! I’ve just subscribed. These look / feel like just what I need right now. Very bad radial tunnel syndrome in right arm and now starting on left side due to compensation actions. PLEASE….how many times in a day? Definitely not going to overdo but although you say not more than ten in total at any one time - I need to know how many times a day for maximum benefit? Thanks!
You're welcome, and thanks for subscribing. Just once a day. If it doesn't feel like it's getting irritated, it can be increased to 2x/day after a few days.
Over a year ago I went to Top Golf/Driveshack and used their steel shafted clubs after a few really hard swings (110+ mph club speed) that were mishit I have developed radial nerve or tennis elbow. I have been flossing for 2 months now after suffering the last year playing golf weekly. I have taken up to two weeks off and still not much progress. Do you have any other advice? I am taking benfotiamine, acetyl-L-Carnitine and R-alpha lipoic acid for the last two months and yet again not much improvement. I do about 20-30 minutes of stretches and flossing per day throughout the day. The pain is most when holding a golf club in the left hand and extending the club downwards and also lifting it from full extension.
Do you have any suggestions for modifications to these glides for someone who has had a PRC surgery on both wrists? Because of that surgery I'm unable to bend my wrists enough. Thanks!
@@AskDoctorJo I’m having issues caused by inflammated nerves due to a chemotherapy I’m doing… do you know if there are contraindications to perform nerve gliding exercises while having nerve toxicity related to chemo. I haven't been able to put weight on my right hand properly for ~13 years and I only just found out that it's a radial nerve issue. I'm hoping these exercises will help... I've been getting back into yoga lately and so many basic poses are really hard because of this issue. Thanks for the video :)
Hi Dr Jo, I'm a subscriber and love your content. I badly broke my humerus in a car accident 25 years ago and have had radial nerve pain ever since. However I have no wrist drop and can still exercise, weights etc. However at night time and after some physical exercise my radial nerve creates crazy pins and needles and severe pain which keeps me awake and causes major pain. I have scare tissue where my break occurred and I wonder if the radial nerve is being irritated by rubbing over the scare tissue. Just wondering if you've come across this type of example of radial nerve
I fell off of a ladder 2.5 yrs ago and ended up with a “terrible triad” injury and a new radial head. After 3 mos of physical therapy a year ago, I still have a hard time putting all of my weight on that arm or even gripping things without sharp pain. In your experience, is it possible that nerve glide exercises can completely alleviate the nerve pain at some point? Thanks!
Unfortunately, that's a hard question to answer because it really depends on what is causing the nerve pain (damage, compression, scar tissue build up). It might be worth trying PT again, maybe with a different therapist to get some different ideas/treatment.
I think its the radial nerve, i can hardly rotate my hand backwards. I get a extremely sharp pain like a 9 out of 10. Is this nerve supposed to be this painful, almost pull out tears or profanity.
I have a pinched nerve (radial, i think) coming from my neck, down right shoulder and going down to my thumb. Is it normal to do these exercises and it start tingling afterwards?
Hello Dr. Jo, THANK you very much for your videos. I have a seriously problem as the doctor damaged my Radial Nerve during the surgery OP of my hand which was broken from two spots (radius fracture elbow). Right after the surgery, I notice that I can NOT extend my finger and my wrist is in drop position but I can fully feel my fingers and skin. The ONLY problem that I have are my finger extension, my wrist in drop position with some pains. Can you please tell me if these exercises are good for my hand as well? What else would you recommend? All I did was fall on the the ball tip of my thumb, and since then my hand has the tingly feeling. I can move all my fingers, wrist and hand fine just when I stretch my thumb back. I just want my thumb back to normal Simone help 😭
The ligaments are probably out of place and forming a new groove that are not quite correct. It's happened to my thumb and big toe from being hit directly on
Need some help :-( Since 2-3 weeks ago I have lost a lot of strength in my triceps in my right arm and sometimes a bit of numbness/tingling in my index finger. I don't have pain. It tingles more if I bend my neck back. I think it could be a pinched nerve. Would these radial nerve glides together with stretching the neck be any use in healing?
If the nerve irritation is focused on one part of my hand, should I still be doing these? All of the tightness and tingling is focused on the bottom knuckle of my index finger and the skin inbetween index and middle finger. On top of that, lightly brushing the top of my hand creates a lot of tingling and numbness. I know this was probably caused by excessive typing but I don't know how to fix it anymore..

Hello Dr. Jo, as I will be doing a total of 10 for the exercises, how many sets per day should I do? Thank you for your time
10 reps, just once a day for nerve glides since doing too many can irritate the nerve even more.

Nerve glides should only be done once a day.

Very excellent thank you
