      I disagree, I have had a cold air intake raise my top speed on a vehicle. Before I could not go over 127, after I hit 144 only single change. Even the temperature outside was with in 4-5 degrees, on the exact same road. That intake added mph so therefore it added HP. BTW, no tune was done.

      Cold air intakes do absolutely nothing. You stock air box takes air from below the bay and now your taking hot air from the motor, even if it added 3-5hp, at 400$ that’s a fail in my books.

    The title should read, “40HP Gain with only Cold Air intake & Tune!”
    You could have simply tuned the truck previous to adding the cold air intake, then dyno it to see what the HP was before adding the intake and then another dyno run to see the gains. Or, run it on the dyno before adding the cold air intake then after without tuning. That would show legitimate HP gains for the add-on only. Then you could throw in the tune to get total HP Gains.

    This is a short ram intake. Cold air intakes hang all the way down to your bumper. Hence the name cold air intake. This one breaths hot air from the engine bay. Despite the heat shield. It's still hot.

    People don't buy into the marketing BS of K&N and CAI. Your factory intake is designed by ENGINEERS...leave it alone it works just fine. Noticed how they did dyno test with a tune. Why not do a dyno test without a tune to see how much HP is really gained.

    • @alpha2gproject783
      @alpha2gproject783 5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Engineers also work at these companies. Honestly CAI systems vary from vehicle to vehicle. I've seen some lose HP and some gain it. I've also seen others that gain some but it's way up top. For example. I had a friend with an 02 Mustang GT Dyno after just an intake and gained a little over 6hp, I had a Ford Ranger 3.0L lose 2hp and I had a Grand Cherokee 4.7 HO that gained 13HP but it was almost at redline. They're hit or miss honestly and for 3-400 for one I'd much rather just get a programmer and leave it be. Or an exhaust and programmer to get the sound and gain a little.

    • @wtjarrard
      @wtjarrard 5 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      Lionfish Hunter the “engineers” have different goals in mind. Engineers also design the shitty stock muffler... why? To be nice and mushy and quiet so everyone is happy.
      Yes, 90% of the gains were probably the tune. But an aftermarket intake will help. Up to you if it’s worth hundreds of dollars or not.

      Most "Cold" air intakes pull air from inside the hot engine bay while most stock intakes pull air from the cooler area between the inner and outer fender. Restrictive yes but colder air. Better to get the Mopar kit to go with the sport hood. Functional hood scoop and less restriction.

    Im confused how does this style of CAI get cold air sitting on top of a hot engine? Isnt Ram air the only true way?

    • @TonyTheTruckGuy
      @TonyTheTruckGuy 5 ปีที่แล้ว +16

      Ram air or a true cold air intake like LMR makes for the Chargers. Most intake companies that make intakes like the one in this video claim that the weather strip and heat shield block out the heat when the hood is shut but that’s a crock. These kits typically cost over $300 and actually add weight to the vehicle too. Best bang for the buck is just a drop in K&N. Typically under $60, barely any heavier than stock and actually yields wheel hp gains because it doesn’t get heat soaked and draws cooler air from the fender through the factory air box.

I’m finding that 77 is a few dollars more than the Blackhawk. Hey, CJ! I would try disconnecting the battery if you haven't done so already, and let the power in the truck drain for a couple minutes before re-attaching and restarting. Sometimes that and letting the truck have some time to adjust to the new intake is needed for things to run properly. Also make sure all sensors and lines have been reattached properly. If you're still experiencing issues, give us a call at 1-888-706-1096 and we'll be happy to take care of you! -Zach

    Experienced mechanics say adding these types of "upgrades" will throw everything out of whack in the long run. The entire vehicle functions and is designed as one. Similar with the human body when surgery replacement of an organ. The foreign organ is always rejected and the person must take all sorts of drugs so the body might, for a while at least, not die.

      Why not 100hp?

    • @popwall4297
      @popwall4297 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Just changing the air filter is not going to give you that much more horsepower there's just no way if that was true people that drag race stock automobiles would take their air filter off before each run. . You're not going to get any more air flow than what the computer will let go in there

    • @zash008
      @zash008 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Maybe take the exhaust manifold completely off engine and run it like that plus maybe a 12 inch diameter intake hose that's 1 inch long from throttle body so no curves at all for airflow before entering intake. And maybe get 2-5hp gain.

    Is it true that you can’t install one of these if you’re running a lift on your truck? I went to the site and it said you can’t and then I called and was told the same thing. I’m hearing other information so I want to make sure before I spend the money

    Factory specs for a 2014 Ram w/5.7:
    HP: 395 @5600 RPM
    TQ: 410 @3950 RPM
    Why is the dyno so low compared to the factory specs?

    • @ericduncan7266
      @ericduncan7266 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Because the factory specs are to the flywheel. And the dyno is to the wheels. You lose a lot of HP between the flywheel and the rear wheels.

    • @bluegrasspointofview5191
      @bluegrasspointofview5191 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      We sell cold air intake filter cleaning kits! It's a spray-on cleaning solution that you rinse out, then you let the filter dry and re-oil it after. -Zach
