Thank you Thea for putting in a lot of hard work into making this video. From writing the script, putting subtitles, physically getting out to get the footage. The history of this KoreaTown part is much, much appreciated. Hopefully people would get to learn Korea's culture by watching this video
Apparently the first H-Mart was open in NYC KoreaTown, which is still open today. Thea is def a Karaoke Popstar. Making a video about doing karaoke is def something we should do when it's safe.
Aside Flushing, there is also a large Koreatown in New Jersey, Palisades Park And lots of Korean restaurants can also be found eastwards of Flushing, along Northern Boulevard in Auburndale and Bayside
Great job Thea. I love that you are covering this aspect of NYC. It is an important part of our life. I look forward to you reviewing other -Towns. Keep up the good work!
Very nice list of things to do in Koreantown nyc! Korean BBQ sounds good if I can find a place that does single servings....not family style because I'm not really have big appetite most of the time! Happy Independence Day Beautiful Lady 😘😘😘xox
1:56 Although in English the sign says, "Korea Way," in Korean it literally says, "Korea [Hanguk] Town" (한국 타운, using the South Korean name for "Korea" and the English word "Town" transliterated directedly into Korean letters).
Another great video Thea! Thanx so much for the info. We didn't know that K-Town is also great for late night eating! Greetings from Amarynthos, Greece, Mirella and Panos!
Thanks! Not all places will be open late, but there will be options. Most places close around 10pm or 12am and a handful can be as late as 3 or 4 am depending on the day.
Thanks! That might be a good idea. There's a restaurant that was highly recommended to me, Jajaja Plantas Mexicana. I'm going there at some point to check it out. Recently, Eleven Madison (the fancy Michelin restaurant) went plant-based as well. There's definitely a big shift towards plant-based food.
@@UrbanCaffeine I just went to Jajaja last week! I would definitely get their nachos, don’t get the chips and dip because it came with 5 chips and guacamole. That’s definitely a top spot with the food and vibe of the place and good music
Likewise, there's a Chinatown in Flushing, Queens as well as the more touristy one in Lower Manhattan. So the East Asians tend to live in the Far East -- of New York City. :-D
Korean food is delicious, but be warned: many (if not all) of the dishes are extremely HOT! My only experience with that type food was in fact in NY, back in the nineties. I've always thought we were in Chinatown, but now that I've seen your video it may well have been Koreatown. The place was very crowded and there were almost no white faces to be seen - always a good sign.
Yes! Beware of spicy food! Places blend a bit in NY. You can walk two blocks and you're in a different neighborhood. K-town can still get pretty crowded today depending on how nice it is out and if it's the weekend. But I still like to visit every now and then.

Thanks for the appreciation! It's been very cold lately so when I get b-roll I feel like my hands are going to fall off. Lol.
There are two K-Towns in NYC. The other one is on Northern Blvd. in Flushing, Queens
Apparently the first H-Mart was open in NYC KoreaTown, which is still open today.

I didn't know that was the first H-Mart. TIL Thanks!
Omg Thea did a video about K-Town. Thank you for taking video suggestion :)
Thank you! I was hoping to do Chinatown in time for the Lunar New Year but didn't have enough time. K-Town is smaller and was easier to make.
@@UrbanCaffeine It's okay. You can do one for ChinaTown at anytime. There're many ChinaTowns in NYC technically. One in Brooklyn and in Queens too

Me too! Many more neighborhoods to cover, but hoping to finish Midtown this year.

Another great, detailed video. I can't wait for my trip to NYC! You have helped so much!
Good luck planning! I hope you have a great trip!

@@UrbanCaffeine thank you so much Thea!
Ha I was just at Lets Meat bbq on 5th then went to Spot Karaoke on 32d the other night. Place was unfortunately dead , due to COVID.
COVID and it's freezing cold! 🥶
I live within walking distance to K-Town. I used to go to a pool hall there. I don't know if it's still open, though.
I know of a pool hall in Koreatown. I don't know if it's the same one.
I love NYC! I love this channel!
Thank you so much! 😊
Thank you for this one… we‘ll stay right near Penn Station so it won‘t be too far…😉
Have fun! Other than Korean BBQ, I like getting Asian baked goods and ube latte.
I’m staying near the gershwin theater. What train to take to k town?
Where are the Korean massage parlors?
Are you able to cover vegan restaurants in nyc like quantum leap etc? Thank you!

@@UrbanCaffeine enjoy it !
I so want to try a Korean barbie. 😋🤗😋
It's pretty good but it's a lot. Korean BBQ will be cheaper in Flushing if you ever find yourself in Flushing.
Little did you know that a few months after you made this video, Queen Elizabeth II would pass away.
"Karaoke Popstar"... Greetings Thea!
Greetings to you as well! Thanks for watching!

0:17 “1953 was a great year…oh, and Joseph Stalin died”. That was good
I’m in actual Korea.
Korean War never ended. It is in a ceasefire.
