Man you've put some effort into this video, the drone work ...the saw RandD ..great to see Anton again ..always something to learn from him .... been working the Borntrager 53Ton jack after watching one of your last video's ... will get the new filter
Best video from WCS in memory. And fantastic intro! My 500i has worn a Max Flow filter almost from day one. Just looking at it, I think the WCS is going to provide superior filtration with all that surface area of filter contacting the base and also with the tighter lock-up. Gordy always costing me money...
Having used both of the “other” aftermarket foam filters on 661 and 500’s, You’ve solved the issues of air leaks and floppy finicky covers. So far…so awesome with your new filter system on my saws! Keep up the strong work WCS!
Has the production feel of a Netflix special. Seriously mean that in a good way! Loved Anton plugging the products, man has many talents eh. Great work Gordie and greetings from eastern Canada🇨🇦
One of the best videos yet. In my opinion you guys have just officially stepped up to the next level in video production. Will be making more orders soon. Thank you for the awesome work!!
This video is awesome from the intro sequence. Impressive new system for air filtration. I hope you will have this available for additional models in the future. Well done as always Gordy!
Westcoast Saw has introduced a new air filtration system for the Stihl 500i and 661 chainsaws, which is designed to improve air filtration performance and provide better engine protection. However, some users have noted that this filter requires the use of oil, which not everyone wants to do.
The production value in the beginning was awesome Gordy. There is one other guy that I just recently discovered that uses very good cameras in his tree work and edits very good some guy from Canada he’s a climber tho
Used it this past week for the first time replacing a Max Flow. I also used both the Max Flow cover and the stock covers with no issues. There was not a single fine piece of material under the filter or near the intake. I would always find a few fines with the Max Flow. I followed Good Fellers technique of putting oil and foam in a zip lock bag and mashing it around. Worked great and thoroughly oiled the filter.
Another great video Gordy! And thank you for covering "mitigation" as one always needs to clear the base and know your escape route/s! Plan ahead, look ahead, and know and understand what you are doing to reduce or maybe eliminate the chances of bad things happening. Loved the plug for CB! Are you using a videographer now?
Installed mine last night, it has such tight tolerances, it took a hair dryer to warm it up a bit for a perfectly tight fit. I hadn’t thought about it being real cold and having any effect on installation. It appears that it will do the trick👍 Thanks WestCoast saw for what appears to be another great product 👍👏🇺🇸 Rick
I have one as well and don’t understand what you mean by too tight. All I did was push a little on the cover and twist. Good snug fit. Not understanding the hair dryer requirement.
@ John, mine would not tighten down…..there was no tolerance. The cage was very stiff, which is a good thing I assume. After warming it up a bit, it was a little more flexible, allowing the cover to go on, though still very tight. My cover would not push down and allow for the 1/4 turn to tighten it.
@ Interesting. Just thinking through the process (there very well could be nothing wrong and you are doing everything right and I am out in left field), I almost missed the removal of the stock spacer and paid close attention to how the new spacer installed. Not trying to imply you did anything incorrectly. Just curious, as winter sets in, if I may run into the same issue and need to steal my wife’s hair dryer. I would need to figure a “field solution as well. I really like mine so far. Not a single fine under the filter. Saws running great with it installed.
@ John, I thought I had installed it wrong, so before stating anything, I reread the instructions and watched Gordy’s install video twice, just to check. I removed the original soft bushing, doubled checked I had installed to new bushing flat side down towards the carb. Even took the filter back off, again squeezed out ALL excess oil and reinstalled the filter and cage again. I think I did everything properly🧐 The only other thought I had was the cold??? Only other thing I can think of is the cage is a hair too tall or my saw stem is too short, tolerances somewhere is not correct???? It still was very hard to turn that 1/4 turn, even after warming it up. I sent an e-mail to Gordy, just before using the hair dryer asking for someone’s assistance there. This was last night, so not expecting a response till Monday, sometime. Maybe my cover on the 500i is out of whack??? I hope you have no problems! After watching Gordy’s video today, at the end where he puts the filters on and easily tightens them down, there definitely is something out of norm with mine. I had to use the scrench to get my 1/4 turn and press down as firmly as I could on the cover. I don’t know……At a loss here. Maybe my cage or saw is the problem…..I think I’m going to order another for another saw and see what it does…….time will tell 👍
@ Well, I will have a hair dryer on standby in case the cold gets me too. Sounds like the most reasonable thing that would affect the fit. Thanks for sharing the info! Happy Thanksgiving!
Gordy I love the new filters, Will they fit under the max flow hood? I ask because my stock hood got trashed so I had to roll with the max, If they’ll work I’ll be ordering this week! Thanks in advance
You do great work! I have a general question for you. I have a 500i (not ported) with all your great mods. That thing rips!! What do you use for hearing protection? I generally use the yellow foam plugs...in the shop, on equipment, & cutting. I'm a retired AF pilot & wore them all my years flying. However, they don't seem to be quite enough with the 500i bark box. Thank you.
Great stuff! 👍 Reading an amazing book at the moment called "The Golden Spruce" by John Vaillant. Covers some history of logging in North-West Pacific/B.C. amongst other things. Well written. Thoroughly recommend. All the best, Mark in Scotland
on my dirtbike air filters I rub a finger of grease on the bottom of air filter where it meets plastic. I would like an upgrade to my Stihl ms400 67cc if you offer one?
hi Gordy I'm told you no longer do porting. ? I have a Stihl ms400 67cc I wanted one of your clutch covers with the two (3) spike felling dogs. (everything I need) also do you have a high flow air box? I was looking at Dyno Joe for porting. John's custom saws and rip saw do not answer. could you give me part numbers for above and point me in the right direction for work saw port job. thank you rich Cooperstown NY. if you prefer I call you just say that.
Sharp is the only way to go if you're cutting or choping with a dull chain or axe. You're asking for trouble. it's not a matter of how it's a matter of when so always keep your chains sharp and axe sharp a clean cut is always better then a dull cut that is fact.
I find it to be no coincidence that Gordy grew a mustache AND came out with an air filter solution that works.
PS I need one of those Schlafer logging shirts 🤌🏼🤙🏼
This video has the best format and sequences ever! Amazing work Gordy!!!

I love my filter saw seems to run and cut better I also like the wedge pouch that travis has like to know where he got that
Antone: „HEEEEEEEEEEYOOOOOOOO!!!" 😄👌🏻😎
Nice video!
Awesome video Gordy those saws sure are rowdy in the wood
Those case guards you usually have to sand down a little for thicker dogs. Or your chain will do it for you.

Awsome video, got that filter for my 500i,another great product cant wait to see what yall come out with next
I’d try one if I didn’t already have a maxflow on my 500, I love running foam filters
So many great mods to a saw. Like it. Not to far from makin youre own chainsaw with everything done. Silly idea maybe but yer. Right people help ya?
So how about a WCS monogramed compression release plug? Neat little bling that would also serve a purpose??
great video loved it. the filming was so good.
nice one thanks
You guys are the final boss of lumberjacks
Nooooo not me I am just out here testing parts there are real cutters out there doing work everyday thank you tho
Badass video Gordy!

Good stuff Gordy!
I have nothing to say really, but I appreciate your content, and wish to help with the yt-algorithms.
You would be surprised just how fast the tan oaks take over the forest when the reds are thinned out
Sick Toyota ad
I’m very happy with the was felling dogs I got from a English seller on eBay
Yup, that's why my order isn't here instantly, you're out in the woods playing with chainsaws, so much for my importance! Lol!
Cool video!!!!
What is the issue with stock filters? What is the benefit of this aftermarket filter?
Gordy explained it in the video
Looks good man.
💪💪
Gordy I love the new filters,
Will they fit under the max flow hood? I ask because my stock hood got trashed so I had to roll with the max,

I use normal plugs I think mine are green
Did Gordy just get himself a camera guy?!?! 🙌🏻
We brought in a guy for this trip he was awsome did a great job 👌

Damn…..stepped your video game way up, nice. 👍🏻
Just this one time then prolly back to old ways again on next one
I appreciate the high production value but won’t be sad if we go back to Gordy and a Go Pro.
Well you’ll be glad because this was just for this trip then it’s back too Gordy mumbling, and fumbling videos and maybe a few movie clips again 😂
What's your belt setup?
I am running our WCS belt and Grizzly Peak axe scabbard and wedge scabbard

on my dirtbike air filters I rub a finger of grease on the bottom of air filter where it meets plastic. I would like an upgrade to my Stihl ms400 67cc if you offer one?
Awesome work👍 would love to try the new air cleaner. Do you ship to Australia?
I tried shipping a saw to Australia and FedEx wanted $900. Lol
@sawmanbigtreeslayer2360 ive gotten the bark boxes out of Canada through walkers saw shop and the shipping wasn't that bad
@Keithskane a bark box does not weigh 22 plus pounds. Shipping items are charged by 3 things. Weight, size of the box and urgency.
@@sawmanbigtreeslayer2360 yeah im fully aware of that. Im pretty sure a few foam filters won't weigh as much as a saw.
my first real landig saw (088 magnum) for fuks sakes i miss those torque monsters! That thing would hop in place while idling lmaop

Yes we have one for 261

only 13 minutes? ONLY 13 MINUTES?
Maybe more expensive to buy. But rekon lot would pay it.

Ahhh, tan oak. Gives me an instant sore throat.
Why don’t you go with battery powered saws like the tweaks want you too…
