That was undoubtedly one of the most powerful speeches I have ever heard. Superb writing; however Travis Fimmel's performance in the scene was awe-inspiring. One of the best examples of an actor truly becoming the character. He drives each word home emphatically with the pain and emotion behind his eyes. Ragnar accepts his fate and embraces death knowing that he will be avenged.

I like how they show the similarities and yet, the differences they show between the Norse mythology and Christianity through the whole series. There's a lot of those moments.

The relationship between Ragnar and King Ecbert was truly special. Loved every minute of what went on between the two of them. Brought a grown man to tears.

Without him the show wouldve been ruined but he made his stort made it so great and i cant wait for the journey after him but man i already miss him. He died like he wanted to

Travis Fimmel was absolutely perfect as ragnar. No one could come close to even half of what travis did with this character. He made viewers emotionally invested in the charcter to a point where people legitimately cried like babies as they watched this person they came to love literally like family be tortured and executed, and made them hurt for days after his death in the show. I have a friend who cried more and was more distraught after ragnars death than her grandmothers. (Granted she wasnt close with her grandma but still) if that isnt enough to display how truly amazing travis did with this character than i dont know what could. No character or actor in the history of film as ever made their fans feel what travis made the audience feel about ragnar. You knew he was a character on a tv show, but you loved him like he were real. And That is the goal all actors hope to achieve and travis did it and then some.
This line kills me everytime 05:55 . I cried watching this scene the first time ... It is such a sad scene. Oh, memories .

I love how his sons represent a different part of his personality, Bjorn is the noble warrior who believes he is the descendent of Odin, Ubbe is the free spirited adventurer, Hvitserk is the deranged drug addict, Sigurd is pride and stubbornness, and Ivar is the battle strategist with sadness, and hatred for a cruel unforgiving world
Bjorn isn’t his son he’s Rollos!
This might very well be the role Travis Fimmel will never top in his career, it was perfect written for him and he shaped it to be a unique character that feels like belongs in that time and place.

100% the best series i've ever watched. i binged it for 2 weeks solid and i've never laughed, cried and felt as much as i did during the whole thing.
