After recovery, does anxiety still trying to be present for a while? Almost it is like is not needed but we automaticly checking without bothering us anymore. More annoying
i’ve been dealing with (not identifying) with agoraphobia for almost 5 years now. but i wouldn’t say i’ve been pushing myself so don’t let that freak you out if anyone is wondering if they’ll be the same. it’s interesting because ive overcome many distances and push myself but always find myself having a relapse and going back in my shell. i only really found out today is because i’ve been taming my panic instead of letting it come. i was definitely pushing myself out of the boundaries, but just very… slowly.. slowly enough that after the initial panic i could just keep going bit by bit. but running towards it fully makes way more sense - cos i can’t keep practising drives bit by but everywhere i go forever. though i will say my method worked when my grandad died and i had to drive to his funeral that was 50 minutes away. i was a very proud malaka that day.
@@openchangeau if you’re interested in sharing your story also lmk. i’m an aussie too - created this channel to share peoples stories whom have overcome (from within) to show people it’s possible. would love to hear yours. stopped for a whole cos things got pretty bad with me for a while but am recovering well now.
Does anxiety subject will go away from my head 🙃 I am finding this very annoying that anxiety disorder is not present anymore and it's a bit weird almost like doesn't feel right. I believe this feeling will pass.
Why anxiety still trying to stay alive when I am doing great and living my life normally? Sometimes it's hitting so hard from completely nowhere. It's doesn't bother me but annoying. Makes me question what I did wrong🤣😀. Seems like anxiety seeing me that I enjoying my life and it's doesn't like it. Is this eventually will stop testing me completely?
Thanks for the encouragement. I know when my brain is more in the anxious mode I go a little crazy. I have jelly legs and burning and tingling in my feet so I focus too much on leg exercises, like jogging for a few minutes or bouncing on a mini trampoline. Feels good while doing it but later the sensitive nerves are way overestimated. I hope to figure out the right amount of exercise. Sometimes walking is challenging and that makes me even more anxious. Your 30 minute meditation is very helpful. Thank you.
How is floating different from distraction? When floating the anxiety appears, but we don't give attention or importance to it, we simply go back to do what we were doing, how is this any different than scrolling Tik Tok when we are anxious? I assume the difference is in the intention behind it. Same action, different attitude, one of indifference, the other of fear and escaping. I wonder how this conciliates with the tips of Psychologists who say to give importance to your emotions and give them attention
"Same action, different attitude, one of indifference, the other of fear and escaping" - exactly! We accept and don't resist the anxiety symptoms/thoughts, while staying open but move forward by going loose, floating or reengage with washing dishes etc. As opposed to desperately trying to distract yourself on Tiktok hoping the thoughts don't come back...
@@openchangeau o sea que si aparecen los Síntomas o pensamientos debemos evitar darles importancia y volver la atención a lo que estábamos haciendo ? O sea , dejar que los síntomas hagan lo que quieran pero no darles atención o importancia?
This is such a good question, and one I had as well. I often overthink and my mind attempts to poke holes in the floating strategy. Just gotta unlearn all those years of avoidance and overthinking 😅
Samuel, thank you for this great video. I have a question. When i get into this new habit of allowing all the anxiety/panicking/instrusive thoughts/all the physical symptoms to come out and release. How am i then going to function out in the society, among people, in the restaurants or at work? Because before, my old habbit was to repress if i would get anxiety or panic within me, and even trembling in the body. I would sit and tense a lot in those moments when being with people, but then it would go away but not recover. How do you allow when you are among people without them thinking you are weirdly or strangely behaving?
Good question. I talk about it in this video, but essentially we can walk slowly into the restaurant with friends, drop the shoulders when thoughts arise, let our stomach muscle go loose as best we can, talk slower, allow the trembling. The more you practice with the 'anticipation' of social events, the easier it will be to practice during the 'event' th-cam.com/video/5j9Sw1oPrH4/w-d-xo.htmlsi=W1lABuTec1NTttMH

Hi Sam, would you say that it's best to avoid thought reframing/positive thinking with this technique? Thanks for the helpful videos, Ive been watching them all week. I would book a coaching session but I am in Scotland so time zones may interfere. Cheers
Hi Daniel - positive thinking & reframing is great to do, as long as it is not to mask or push away anxious thoughts or symptoms. It usually easier to float and allow and then move into positive thinking after if it feels right. I have a number of Scottish clients and they seem to find times ok so you can check availability through my booking link openchange.com.au/anxiety-coaching/

Thanks Samuel! Something throwing me off is a lack of a general timeline to become desensitized. The issue that caused me to become hyperstimulated has been resolved. I've been putting into practice what you, Dr. Weekes, and others have been preaching for 7-8 months now. I have seen most symptoms fall off, and the frequency of my "worst symptoms" has decreased. But they're still there, nonetheless. It's hard to fight the voice in your head saying "am I doing this right? What's taking so long?" even after proof it's working.
Great to hear about your success despite doubts about recovery. This is extremely common and we need to treat any thoughts about recovery, how long etc as just more anxious thoughts to practice with. My setbacks playlist plus this video might help th-cam.com/video/jombo8K41rc/w-d-xo.html
I feel anxiety all the time, not just in panic attacks. How do you overcome this? When I go to restaurants or church or somewhere that I am confined in, I get anxious and can’t sit still, just want to get up and move. What do I do in these cases.
Samuel, I don't understand how it is possible to "go loose" annd float when the very act of allowing aniety, panic, etc.,causes my entire body to tense-up. Please explain.
When your physically go loose or limp, it's ok if muscles are still tense. It's not about trying to relax, simply going loose or limp while you allow the adrenaline to flow that causes the tension. The more you allow, the less if will flow over time. You can always book a coaching session if you are struggling openchange.com.au/booking/
