    The most common thing you'll hear since the Galaxy Note 8 was announced is that you're really just buying a Galaxy S8+ with an S Pen. The thing is that the more I played with the Galaxy Note 8, the more I learned that wasn't so accurate. Side by side, these two siblings are definitely built from the same mold. We have the same glass and aluminum finish on each that's both gorgeous, but looks aren't everything.
    Watch our full video to learn more about why these devices are different.

    "Just" an s-pen... that s-pen adds so many functions and Samsung added so much software to work with it. This is on top of the software and hardware upgrades they added compared to the S8.
    Anyone who thinks this is just a slightly better S8 hasn't looked at this device enough.

    • @DrMacintosh
      @DrMacintosh 7 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Most people I know with Notes never use the S-Pen.
      The Camera features have been done before, the extra RAM is only there because TouchWiz is shit.
      It literally is an S8 Plus+

    • @Dongzzzzzz
      @Dongzzzzzz 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      DrMacintosh yeah like one+'s phones are shit cause they have like 8gb ram. Android is heavier to run compared to ios. Touchwiz is just a skin not an operating system so it does not have anything to do with performance.

    • @DrMacintosh
      @DrMacintosh 7 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Denver Cayle Ong It directly impacts performance. If TouchWiz was just a skin it would perform just like stock Android, but it doesn't, TouchWiz is a massive hit to performance.

    Maybe Samsung should remove some of the features on purpose in the s9 and give them only to the note 9 so that people will stop complaining.

    Even the greatest phone ever is useless if it can’t last you a day and that small battery already kills the note.

    WHEN WILL PEOPLE UNDERSTAND? The note 8 is NOT meant to be an upgrade from the s8, but from the note 5/7

  • @AyoubHassan

    Using a Note right now, I don't see myself moving to a phone without a stylus anymore.. I love the OnePlus 5 right now, but I guess I'll definitely miss the stylus, I use the stylus a lot.. In that sense, S8+ doesn't appeal much for Note users I guess..

  • @abyssabyssabyss
    @abyssabyssabyss 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    The note 8 isn't supposed to be an upgrade to the s8, they're different lines of phones with different purposes. The note 8 is a long overdue upgrade for screwed over note 7 users and note 5 users. The note is a more productivity oriented phone, and the s8 is average consumer oriented.

  • @odogwu7
    @odogwu7 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    If the iPhone 8 sales do better than the Note 8 and S8..... that's because
    1. Its an Apple product duh.
    2. Its a huge leap from what apple usually does. So a lot of their fans would want to see that.
    If you thibk the N8 is just a an s8++ that's probabaly because Samsung has pretty much done everything they can do at this point.
    IMO Samsung is at its prime right now.
    And do you really thibk Samsung isn't gonna play it safe after what happened with note7. The phone hasn't been released yet. Buy it and then talk about battery.

    Samsungs s8 plus should of never been that big the plus should be the size of the normal s8 and the normal s8 should of been an all screen display thats only has a 5.2 inch screen. That way the 3 phones are all very diffrent sizes.

  • @CRPHD
    @CRPHD 7 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    Do you think it is worth upgrading from a galaxy to a note 8, with them being almost the same, because Samsung has really just Ben hyping the s- pen. But why do you need a stylist for a phone anyway. It is not like it is a iPad pro

  • @djgmoney8649
    @djgmoney8649 7 ปีที่แล้ว +89

    I own the S8+ I preoordered my Note8 because people also thought the Note7 was just an S7 with a pen. We know that was false. The folks on TH-cam whom were at the event calling the Note8 the "S8++" or "the S8 with a pen" will eat those words.

    Let's keep it real. You're getting .1 inch screen size increase, a dual camera with the same aperture and pixel count, 2 additional gb of ram, and an spen.
    The only true differences are the spen and the 2 extra gb of ram. This note is an overall disappointment and yes it's just an S8+ with an spen and an inflated price tag.
    People who held out for it could have had the exact same device in the form of the S8+ 6 months ago.

    So, when the OnePlus 5 is $200 cheaper, it's a big price difference, but when the Note 8 is $200 more expensive, it's "meager"?

  • @JamesRoyceDawson
    @JamesRoyceDawson 7 ปีที่แล้ว

    What's the point of the Note line at this point? The S-pen isn't used by most people, and its inclusion means you get a smaller battery than the S8+. They should just add the dual cameras to the plus model and get rid of the Note line. A stylus and an extra camera doesn't warrant an extra $200 on the price tag.

  • @Brysengus
    @Brysengus 7 ปีที่แล้ว

    The note 8 is just another Samsung Galaxy S8+ with S Pen, sorry Samsung but this time we don't see big changes between the new Galaxy note 8 and the note 7 and there's no big difference between SGS8+ and SGN8 either

    nobody's impressed by new phones unless they really go the extra mile in specs and/or features these days and even then they still find a way to nitpick and criticize the phones for not being the ultimate in their category. personally i'm excited to get this because i miss my note 4 and the s pen, and now that i've had an s7 for a while i wouldn't dream of getting a phone that's not waterproofed. i think the note 8 is the perfect mix of both with the added bonus of a sweet dual camera setup and the deep sea blue color in canada

    This phone would have made more sense if it was released side by side with the S8/S8+. 6 months down the track though, the difference is not big enough. IMO, it just needed one more key feature to tip the scales (eg. 128GB storage, even better quality front camera, stereo speakers, bigger battery than the S8+)

    Call me crazy but there's a LOT of Lumia features in the software of both the S8 and N8. Sometimes I feel the Microsoft helped or influenced some of the software on these new Samsung's, hence why they even have a Microsoft edition S8. Those who have a Lumia 950 or XL will understand...

  • @richbrown932

    I love the S-Pen.....but find it more useful on a tablet or on Samsung's Chromebook Plus (both of which I own). I owned the Note7 last year and it was a great device. But I have to admit to finding a phone screen too small to really be effective as a note pad. That might just be because I write really big, but regardless, for me personally, the Tab S3 is the better way to enjoy the S Pen.

    I wasn't surprised or disappointed that the s8 and note 8 have the same chipset. People need to realize that the days of 2 major chipsets upgrades a year is gone. It's been the same way with the last 2 years. The snapdragon 810 was released in spring of 2015 then in spring of 2016 we got the 820 and later that fall we got the 821 a slightly faster 820, then this year we for the 835 in spring and more then likely were getting slightly faster 836 this fall. In the note 8 your paying for a 50% more ram and the s pen and Samsung software for the pen and a extra lenses. When the S8 was released I predicted the note 8 would just be a S8 with a better camera setup and a pen I wasn't wrong at all, and also I am not majorly disappointed because there isn't much more Samsung could she added to the note 8. If you know smartphone enthusiasts and follow them you should not be shocked at all that this is what the note 8 is!

    Anyone who knows anything knows more RAM doesn't do anything to performance. You can run actual PCs on 4 GB just fine. There's not reason for a note that's twice as much as a s8. Even apple can justify their new phones better

    You forgot to mention the biggest difference between these two: the price. The hefty price tag for the Note 8 is something every review has to mention considering is one of if not the most expensive phone ever

    If people want a phone with a pen they should just sell the s pen separate the s8 really need dual cameras but I guess they only made this phone to milk the consumers

    All note 8's minor upgrades is meaningless since it has such a weak battery compared to da S8+

    @pocketnow is it true that the note 8 won't benefit from the new t mobile 700 band because it doesn't support it?

    With the beastly spec of the s8+, I don't think it's reasonable to upgrade to N8

    Why trade my s8+ for a phone with less battery power. No thanks hell i prefer to type my notes anyway.

    What was Samsung thinking when they announced the price tag of 1000 dollars are they mad. It should be 750 after the note 7 fiasco. Samsung hasn't learnt anything after that issue. They need to listen to the consumers more and give us the best of both worlds instead of just targeting one type of consumer.
