There should be a setting for Samsung galaxy phones that requires a fingerprint, password, face recognition, iris scan, pin or pattern to be able to restart your phone or power it off
Because if your phone is lost or stolen someone can just power it off and you will not be able to track it. If your phone is lost or stolen and you lock it from Samsung when it locks it should automatically shut down all apps that are not required for tracking it and put it in power saving made so it saves the battery there also should be one of those setting if someone finds your phone and tries to reset it. Click Like if you agree.
Steven Boldt they did a patch on that. Check it out in the settings. Mine requires a password before power off

thank you for this excellent review. I think i will be inclined to get the S8. I think the Note 8 probably won't fit in my jeans pocket. Besides, currently I don't have to have the Stylus pen anyway. The difference in price between the phones is substantial. And the features that the Note 8 offers are not significant enough for me to go ahead and get it. So most likely i will purchase the S8.

Hi guys! Hi @Sakitech! This is Fred. I just got my Samsung Galaxy Note 8 today. And upon careful inspection at home one night, I think I have what people online are saying as "light bleeding." There's this light coming through where the glass meets metal, on the entire length of the left side. I originally thought it was normal, but the right side of the phone only had this light emanating from the upper-right corner.
For a phone this costly, I feel like this is unnacceptable. Or is this just normal and does not compromise the water-resistance of the phone? Should I return this? I hope I can hear your thoughts on this.

Saki...terrific comparison! I had an iPhone 7 Plus, which was a nice phone...except for the crappy junky-junk Intel modem that Apple saddled the T-Mobile and AT&T variants with. No Service in sububan/rural areas where I would normally get 2 bars with a 6s Plus or S8 Plus.
T-Mobile recognized the issue and let me trade the 7 Plus for the Galaxy S8 Plus. Honestly, the only thing I miss is iMessage. Other than that, the S8 Plus (and I'm sure the S8) blow the iPhone out of the water.
Even though it has a huge 6.2" screen, the phone is so much lighter, slimmer, and easier to hold. The iPhone is like holding a tall piece of toast. The S8 has so many useful features. The Iris Scanner is blazing fast. Got used to the positioning of the Fingerprint Reader. Touchwiz is so feature-packed.
Simple stuff like Rectangle (for selective screen capture) on the Edge screen is absolutely brilliant. I've had the phone for a few months and I haven't had a single stutter.
Best part is that you can get an S8 for around $500 and an S8 Plus for a few dollars more. Samsung even had a mail-in offer for a free 256 gb microSD card. An iPhone X with 256 is something like $1,149.
Dual cameras would be nice in the S8, but no biggie really. Most of the time I carry a Fujifilm X10 with a 28-112 optical zoom and an apature of f/2.0-2.8.
The geekbench marks on the s8 android8.0 oreo is around 2000 or above in single core and 6800 or above on multicore on exynos
They both have stereo mics at the top and bottom :-)
Excellent review. Keep up the good work. Then S pen makes all the difference. It's a game changer in my opinion. The 6gb ram also definitely helps. So Note 8 is definitely better but it's priced so high.

S8 is running 7.0 Nougat and Note8 is running 7.1. I went from S8 to Note8 and I have noticed some incremental differences.

It all comes down to if you want the s-pen or not. If not, s8 plus is a better option with the price. But if you can add more money, than might as well go with the Note 8.

Why has the s8 and s8 plus a much vibrant and brihghter display ( i know 1200 nits etc but in the shop , in real life it was just more dark and less vibrant even with the brightnes on max - and i checked in at least 3 places , same story....! ) Can i get an answer for this , because i was reaally considering to buy a note 8 , now im just hesitating because of the display !

My Galaxy s8 single core score is 2017..multi core score is 6157 I use my s8 without lag, and everything is so smooth, fluid, even some people was say that galaxy s8 have lag..but that not true.. yeah..i beat yours..haha..peace..✌

Probably as the only difference between S8 and the plus is the screen size. The Note would be more of an upgrade if someone wants a big phone if they already have a phone of similar size to the normal S8

Btw guys, samsung announced that the Note8 (and probably the S8) will be able to record videos at 4K60FPS through a software update. But i think only Exynos variant will be able to do that

Yah those 2 people that use a s pen like get a iPad Pro that’s met for s pen not A smart phone that just draws a pen functionality on it and plus I do not know anyone that has a galaxy S8 that would use it to draw on like just get a notepad out of your pocket or people this is crazy I would get the galaxy essay because that note 8 with .1 inch larger is a complete waste and again ram does nothing on the android....

Traded in my S8+ for the Note 8. No, they are not the same but they are both excellent. I prefer the build of the S8+ more but the Note 8 just packs more punch.

Just a side note there......the Note 8 actually has a better display than the S8/S8+(ignoring the extra functionality the Note's display needs to have in order to fully utilize the S-Pen which is pretty much done on a hardware level, not just software)......the Note 8 currently has the best display on any smartphone to date(confirmed by Display Mate) followed by the S8 family(which beat the N7[FE I guess]to take the top spot when it came out) .....it supports a much wider colour gamut and covers a lot more of the sRGB colour space etc.......it's just something I find that a lot if you guys always tend to miss out and it really doesn't portray just how much Samsung keeps pushing the boundaries on mobile Display technology.....and after the Silly slides and statements that apple showed and said during their Keynote when talking about OLED, I think its just right that you guys at least touch a little on stuff like this so that people don't just get easily brainwashed with that kind of PR stuff

Trapaholic Technically, its their second since they used Li-Po batteries on the Note 7......but I can't even tell cuz even the N7 had Lithium-ion written on it......the N8 probably uses them tho

Why do you choose to compare with the S8? It has a smaller battery and screen. I think a better comparison would be to compare with the S8+.

i did notice a difference in the side by side video comparison. the note 8 looks a little more richer in color than the s8.
