    Big screen phones are no big deal these days. The Galaxy Note 8 has been criticized for its high price tag. Is it REALLY that much better than the Galaxy S8? Here's our showdown between two very similar phones from the same manufacturer: the Galaxy Note 8 and the Galaxy S8 Plus.

    The Note is to Samsung what the V Series is to LG: A centralized device for a specialized setting. Businesses mainly. The Galaxy S is the consumer device. For recreational use. If you see yourself needing a notebook you get a note instead. If you need a smartphone you get the S8.

      I LOVE phones that actually take work seriously. Like, these expensive gadgets can also be for grown ups too! WHO KNEW?!?!

    • @acosmys780

      I personally disagree. The V30 is comparable to the S8+ where as G6 is comparable to the S8.

      Jaylen Thrash You're right, I use the Note, I'm a design engineer. These reviewers, as I said above have not even a basic understanding of customer requirements, they can't get their heads around the fact that there are people who will only use Note phones, like engineers, architects, graphics designers, artwork designers, business professionals etc. But most of them aren't too bright and unfortunately the ability to talk doesn't make them more intelligent. Just look at the average politician.

      JuanBagnell Oh wow! Never even got a notification Juan replied to me! Thanks, TH-cam. -_-
      But yes, I love work horse devices. To me there's two schools of thought for smartphones: Software Warriors, ala the iPhones, the Pixels, and the Windows Mobile phones. And then there's the hardware Pros with accessories, ala the Note 8, the Blackberry KEYone, and the V Series with their camera/video phones. Anything in between that, doesn't truly appeal to me.

      I really wish everyone would stop riding them, especially as protection. their skins are terrible. sure they stick well and fit good but theyre cheap. they're just for looks imo

    • @SomeGadgetGuy
      @SomeGadgetGuy 7 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      I honestly would if folks in these comments wouldn't constantly get their undies in galactic twists over using a phone with a skin. I REALLY miss the days of companies experimenting with different materials for flagship phones. I hate glass. I HATE GLASS. Give me Nokia's high quality poly carb, or Moto's blue leather, or kevlar, or carbon fiber or ANYTHING ELSE BUT A SLIPPERY SURFACE...

      Tony Montoya That's because they ARE for looks, but also help with grip and a degree of scratch protection.

    Note 8 keeps 29 apps in memory, the S8+ keeps 7 = big difference. the extra 2gb memory in the Note 8 goes a long way

    I don't understand the hate on the fingerprint sensor placement. I have an s8 + and i love the location. With a phone so big it's easier for me to reach the back with my index finger than to move my thumb to a sensor on the front.

    • @cyber5879
      @cyber5879 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Jackson Russell what about those spoilt teenagers they can’t reach the fingerprint sensor

    • @mikldude9376
      @mikldude9376 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Jackson Russell i think sammy could have made the fps a bit better ,
      Even in the sub optimal position the sensor could have been a tad bigger and recessed further to give a bit more feel .
      As it is , if you are a person with large hands and fingers , it is a very small target that does take far more feeling around than it should .
      Its not a huge deal , but if you use your phone a lot ...... say 50+ times per day, it does spoil the user experience somewhat .
      And while the eye scanner works fine , it's much nicer to pull the device out of your pocket with the finger print sensor having it unlocked before you even get it near your face.
      And for $$$$ your paying for the device it should be close to perfect , but with dodgy fps clearly it is not.

      I have no issues with the fingerprint sensor as well. I have small hands that are like a girl's hand and I can reach the sensor on day 1 without even thinking or searching for it. It's very accurate and fast. one light touch and it unlock. Very cool. Best thing is you don't need to on your phone to use fingerprint sensor to unlock phone. One touch when screen off and you will get to the home screen immediately. Awesome!

      Real DNA I know the the note 8s wide angle lens s not really a wide angle lens but it does a decent job. The v30 has a better wide angle but Samsung has the best low light shots with vibrant colors . They are really close but the v30 front camera is note good .

    Though Samsung makes awesome phone...the software updates are not upto the mark. Once a new top of line device launches they forget the previous ones even in the same gen. Eg: Even unlocked S8 haven't received any update to UX or option to disable Bixby.

      brown bobby Yes don't own S8,many of friends do and I am talking about features updates like UI improvements. They like to keep it to current premium device.

    I feel like the only person on the planet using my phone 90% of the time for audio. The audio capability among smartphones is very important to me and definately warrants mention i reckon!. I know samsung audio is lackluster at best, but is still a big part of any phone.

      It's gotten a lot better on the Qualcomm powered Galaxies, but still wont beat an Axon or a V10/20/30...

      JuanBagnell cheers juan, so the s8+ and note sound the same then im guessing. I hope samsung consider some nicer audio in their next phones! I love everything about my s7 but the sound is pretty sad :P

    Honest question. Should I get the note 8 or the oneplus 5? The specs seem very similar If not leaning towards oneplus and I'm worried about the battery life on the note 8. Which should I get?

    • @acosmys780
      @acosmys780 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      If you want better display, and camera, get the Note8. If you would be fine with okay display and camera, get the OnePlus 5.

    • @richbrown932
      @richbrown932 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      DILLIGAF0828 obviously if you're on a limited budget, you should go with the OnePlus. However if you can afford it, your $900 get you a whole lot of benefits including a much brighter display, in fact the brightest available that makes it very easy to see the phone outside, and the S Pen, a better camera solution, and the killer battery combination of wireless charging and fast charging and even fast wireless charging.

      Not a great place to ask, 99% of people here have a bias against Apple. All I can say is that if you’re not a power user who needs to customize things exactly to your liking, the smooth performance and great battery optimization and five years of software support will do you better. Think about what you do on your day to day use of your current phone, and think: do you just consume media, use social media, and other more normal uses? The iPhone’s simplicity will do you better. The s8 is better in other ways though too, but either way, you can’t go wrong with either.

      Banglaz Bless good for you if you want to pay more for a pen a screen just a hair bigger then the s8 plus and 2 more gigs of ram which will only make about a tenth of a second difference. I've been a note user since the note 2 and believe me the xtra money is not worth it.

    1. 0:00 - 0:05 is actually correct in my opinion. I am unlock my phone so many times every single day and besides that I am using the fingerprint sensor much more to login on websites etc. and with this complete useless position, I can't do this anymore and it restricts my day to day usage.
    2. The S8 feature nearly the identical hardware. Just the RAM is different. So where the hell is Android 7.1.1 and Experience UI 8.5 on the S8? This is one point I really hate about Samsung. I think the S8 will never get the Update for 7.1.1 + UI 8.5. An only 5 months old, $800 flagship.
