      With regards to your hesitation(slow accelerator response) problem, if you see the tachometer needle "shake" after the engine has warmed up, is idling while in park at 700 rpm. Consider changing your spark plugs.
      A common fix for your hesitation problem would be to try and run a few gas tanks of premium gas with fuel system cleaner added to them. Most gas stations sell injector/fuel system cleaner, a popular brand is called "Techron".
      Here you can read about someone that fixed the hesitation issue by changing the fuel pump filter: mirageforum.com/forum/showthread.php/8923-Hesitation-on-Acceleration-(60k-km-5-years)-FIXED-cleaned-fuel-system

    Before you drain the fluid warm the car up or drive it for ten minutes
    Then pull the dip stick and check the level
    After drain and fill warm it up again and then check the fluid level when it’s hot
    The fluid expands when it hot and that’s how you get a true reading
    Also you need to slowly work the gear shift in the car after you fill it and before checking the level
    5 seconds in each position
    Do it twice
    Park reverse
    Drive
    Low or first gear
    Fluid needs to be worked in.
    Good video 👍

    • @welfarewagonrepairs
      @welfarewagonrepairs  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you for the kind words. The oil pan gasket sits between 2 perfectly flat surfaces. It wouldn't matter if it's a few mm off center. The only thing that locates the gasket is the many bolts that pass through it. In other words, you don't need to worry about it.

    • @welfarewagonrepairs
      @welfarewagonrepairs  10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      The official instructions from Mitsubishi on how to check the CVT fluid level using the dipstick are shown at 17:14 in the video. It is with the engine on, warmed up and after shifting through all the gears. The level is lower with the engine on as the pump is constantly moving fluid, similarly after shifting the fluid level is lower as the clutch packs will be wet with fluid.

    I have a nissan sentra and a mirage I have done the sentra. Ita the same jatco cvt. I'm wondering if the cvt fluid is compatible. I know they have manufacturer fluid the cooling components and where the fluid touches may have material differences. But I have 4 left over quarts ns 3 nissan. I changed filters and fluid and then spill and filled it 2 times total 3 time till fluid was bule green. I think I can use rhe nissan fluid in the mitsibushi

    • @welfarewagonrepairs
      @welfarewagonrepairs  5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I imagine the Nissan fluid would work. I personally wouldn’t take any risks with a fluid I buy once every few years.
      The primary difference between the mirage and Nissan cvt is that Nissan gives you an external cooler and the mirage only has a heat exchanger with coolant that both helps heat the fluid up to increase efficiency and cools the transmission if it’s hotter than the coolant. The absence of a heat exchanger is why the mirage needs so much less fluid and warms up quicker. The mirage also has a different software setup that is more aggressive at shifting into neutral and keeping the RPM down. The mirage in some other markets/countries has an electric cvt pump that keeps fluid moving when the engine auto start-stop(also not available in Canada) shuts the engine down to save gas. You can see the spot in the fuse box for the pump fuse.

      5.9 newton meters it’s shown in the diagram at 9:57 in the video. It is not very tight. I was very scared of stripping the bolts as there is very little thread. Your problem is likely that the pan is either warped or that some sort of dirt is trapped between the pan and the transmission. My car didn’t even come with a gasket.

    What’s the difference between a 19 mm socket and breaker bar

    • @welfarewagonrepairs
      @welfarewagonrepairs  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The breaker bar is just the wrench i use. It’s called that because it does not ratchet. You can use any wrench you want the bolt won’t know 😂. If you use a very cheap ratchet it may break. But a cheap breaker bar will always work as it has no gears. The socket goes onto the breaker bar. The same socket is used for any wrench you want, breaker bar, Ratchet, torque wrench.

      It’s mentioned at 11:50 in the video it is on top of the pan as I install it. At 11:56 you can see it for a fraction of a second as I slide it a little to get the first bolt in. You can also see it sandwiched between the pan and the transmission body as I tighten the first bolt at 12:10 in the video.

    • @welfarewagonrepairs
      @welfarewagonrepairs  9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      It just lays between the pan and the transmission body there is no way to install it incorrectly. As there is no gasket maker or paste or special tools or steps needed for install.

      perfect bro, thank you, I`d like to know if I could change just the filter and the fluid, what could happen if I dont put a new O ring, new pan filter and pan gasket? Most of the mechanics here charged me $250 for the service, but Im pretty sure they would just change the filter and the fluid as the gaskets and other materials are more expensive

    • @welfarewagonrepairs
      @welfarewagonrepairs  9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@marcuslima2535 The owners manual does not recommend changing the pan filter or even dropping the pan, it only recommends cartridge filter and fluid changes if driving in rough conditions. You should be fine reusing the pan gasket, my car didn't even come with one. The o-ring should also be ok to reuse but some people have torn them during re-installation so its probably good to have a spare on hand.
      The pan filter is only a metal screen, you could definitely remove it and try and run fluid through it in reverse or use compressed air to clean it. The pan filter I used is less than ten dollars on rockauto.com so it wasn't worth cleaning for me.
      The main reason I dropped the pan was not to change the pan filter or to clean the magnets, it was because if I only pulled the drain plug I would not know how much fluid to put back in. The service manual recommends measuring what comes out and replacing it but that sounds like horrible idea if you do not know if the transmission is under/over filled before you start. Dropping the pan also allowed me to change the maximum amount of transmission fluid.
      The transmission service at my local Mitsubishi dealership is either fluid only or they can change the paper filter for an added fee. They do not ever drop the pan or touch the pan filter as that is suppose to last the life of the transmission.

    • @marcuslima2535
      @marcuslima2535 9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      beautiful explanation mate, I live in Australia, so here is not too easy to get some parts and they usually are more expensive, the pan filter and gasket would cost me $60, the oil filter $30 and O ring $40 lol

    Do the smaller torque wrenches show it in NM meters. I know the larger ones I have, show foot pounds of torque

    • @welfarewagonrepairs
      @welfarewagonrepairs  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      The larger 1/2in drive torque wrench shows foot pounds on one side and newton meters on the other. The smaller 1/4in torque wrench shown in this video has inch pounds on one side and CM/KG on the other. A conversion between all the popular units of torque is provided on a sticker inside the case of the wrench. Newton Meters isn't exactly a great unit to use a small wrench with because the wrench maxes out at 200 inch pounds which is only approx. 22.6 newton meters.

    my car have currently 80.000km and the fluid was never changed before, is a dark color and I`ve heard this cvt transmission cause problems easily, so I wanna do the best for the car but at the same time don`t wanna spend money with things that doesn`t really need to be replaced, and just replacing the filter and fluid themselves would be so much easier and faster.

    • @welfarewagonrepairs
      @welfarewagonrepairs  9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      The fluid will basically always be dark in color. You are only going to replace maybe 60-80% of the fluid, and the remaining fluid that is stuck in the torque converter and other places is going to immediately darken any new fluid you add after you start the car up and the pump mixes it all together.

    • @welfarewagonrepairs
      @welfarewagonrepairs  9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Very fancy/expensive transmission places can replace fluid with two hoses connected to the heat exchanger lines which allows for replacing all the fluid as new fluid is forced in until it all looks clean. But it’s expensive, excessive and not practical on the mirage as it does not have an external transmission fluid radiator.
