I have two step kids who were told to believe in Santa. I think it helps to leave clues. So, I just made sure that they could see the wrapping paper in my closet. Sometimes, I'd "make mistakes," when wrapping things. Plus, I have very distinctive handwriting. With all the clues, they came to me with the question pretty quickly. I like this way a lot because it teaches them to seek evidence and to use their reasoning skills.

That's how I found out. I noticed that my "Santa" gifts had my mom's handwriting. Also my uncle seemed to disappear every year when Santa showed up. So one year when I put 2 and 2 together it all went dingdingdingding! The Santa Claus myth is probably the best teaching of skeptical thinking a child could possibly have. It can be our first AHA! Scooby Doo moment in life.

The practice when I was young, was Santa brought small presents, sweets etc, on Christmas Eve. Larger presents for many of the extended family were placed under the tree for giving out on Christmas Day afternoon.
I had a fireplace in my bedroom so when I began to doubt, I decided if I blocked the door and there were presents, Santa must have come down the chimney, if there were no presents, it was my parents who couldn't get through the door.
There were presents though my mother did confess I had given her a problem.
The big difference is, no one insists Santa still exists once children have ceased to believe.

_"This god should just show up."_
So he can have a healthy and equal relationship with mortal clay puppets? Sounds like such a great idea /s
If a loving god existed and it wanted a relationship and gratitude and worship - which already sounds more like a stupid narcissist than love but whatever - it wouldn't have created us mortal but equal and it wouldn't fear us but love us. You know, how we do with fellow humans we love and kids that grow up to be stronger and smarter than we are, especially when we grow older and weaker.
For a super smart being who supposedly created us he knows surprisingly little about us and about how things work. Fundamental things like love, empathy, fear, respect. Or loss. "For he so loved the world that he let his son's flesh die so his eternal being would be safe and could be king of the universe in health and immortality for ever and ever." Does that sound like a sacrifice? I lost more of my time that I'll never get back typing this. If sacrifice is a reason for worship, I have this empty bank account that needs infinite dedication :p Because I love you so much of course and I want a super healthy relationship with you so you can be happy :p #totallynotamalignantnarcissist

Evidence the story existed thousands of years ago, is in no way evidence that the story is 100% a description of real events. Otherwise the story that Alexander the great being a son of a god would be considered evidence, since much of the story does describe actual events.

15:03 man tells kid audience they need to meet him in person to know he's real...
