The jet boat that my dad had when I was a kid has had a profound impact on my life trajectory and I’m so stoked to see you loving yours Finnegan! My dad had a 70’s Buick big block powered jet boat with a covered engine bay (don’t know the make of the boat) that my sister and I used to love a kids. I truly think that boat is the reason I’m such a gear head. Unfortunately, one afternoon my dad and I were out on the lake with my dads good friend and his daughter skiing. I was five years old at the time. My dad stopped the boat to take his turn skiing and my dads friend climbed in to takeover driving. As soon as dad’s friend started to crank the boat over, the engine back fired, causing an explosion and fire that engulfed the boat. Us two kids were right next the the engine bay and were instantly on fire. My dads friend grabbed both of us and through us into the water before saving himself. I had second and third degree burns on my foot and leg, the daughter had the same on her hand and arm and the friend had second degree burns on his eyelids and face. If it wasn’t for his selfless act, I wouldn’t be here today. Funny thing is, I love boating to this day and have little fear of fire? Anyway, I really would love to get my family a jet boat to enjoy one of these days! Keep up the great channel Finn!!!

Everyone would stop and ask questions about the boat. Then when we would put boat in the water, you would have thought we had started a top fuel car. Especially with no water in the headers yet. We are in are late 30's i shared this video with him, in hopes it will get him fired up and get it out on the water again. The feeling never goes away of pulling the off the trailer and firing across the water in a boat like no other!

Hey Mike, I am starting to appreciate your love of squirt boats. I used to have a 1964, flat bottomed, V-drive Raysoncraft with a .060 over 440 Chrysler and a Kessler in and out box, oars for reverse. Was fast and fun, and cost me $100.00 Every time I drove it in broken gauges and everything else that goes around with it. I love boats. There is this guy..... that lives down the road from me that has a blown big block v-drive pickle fork, it has been sitting in his driveway as long as I have lived here. I think that the reason that he doesn't use it and that I don't knock on his door is that we are now both old. Keep your dreams bro. Hoping to see you at SEMA this year if we don't all lose our minds and mess it up.
When Mike said "It scares me now" I know the feeling just done some "tweaking and tuning" on my truck I'm scared to put the thing to the floor. Mike you really make some great things my kids really love watching faster with Finnegan with me. Even namedy youngest son after you for some reason. Thanks Mike for doing that thing you do and trying to inspire others to get out and make dreams come true.
Fluid dynamics: requires years of high level education and mathematics to understand. Mike: 4in grinder with a cardboard template and picks up 15mph on his top speed.
I have always wanted to learn how to weld, but life just sort of got in the way of that. I would love to teach my son-in-law and my 15 year old grandson to weld at the same time. There are so many things around our house that could use repairs as well as some care stuff I would love to fix. I was in the automotive business for over 30 years and now that I'm retired I finally have the time to do all of this. I truly enjoy watching all of you videos, I used to be partners with a good friend who owns S.I. Valves in Simi Valley, CA. I used to go to Pomona for the races all the time. Thanks for your time and good luck to whoever gets a chance to win the welder.
My dad’s advice when I started racing go karts. I quote “don’t look behind you and don’t push the brakes ease off in to turns and accelerate out of them” 🏁
"We don't have that kind of precision here." But proceeds to check if the valve lash is just a hair off... literally the thickness of a strand of hair.
I'm a new owner of a jet boat because of everything you guys have done! Both on this channel and roadkill! I uploaded our '76 Hewet 16' to TH-cam with an AMC 343 (304 bored n stroked) with a "Panther" jet! Idaho lakes and rivers are amazing!
Hey mike, I’m stationed down in south GA I’d love to be a part of this build off. It’s been a passion of mine for years I’ve followed y’all since the beginning. Being in the navy makes it extremely hard to have a decent shop to create in . Thank you for all your great content.
I remember working at a fishing camp in Alaska all summer. When I left and got on shore to go home I though I was going to die with how fast the bus was moving. It was the fastest I had been for months during the summer. I can only imagine 130 mph in a boat. I have been impressed with all of your builds, I have been watching for years since the early C-10 came back to you and the ramp truck updates. Came over from the roadkill episodes. Keep up the good work.
You know I’ve had that same dang feeling about a thousand times building my first ever project/drag car/P.o.S. My ‘75 makes me scratch my head so damn much I’m going bald. But..... but.... (on occasion) those pipes get to sing the neighborhood wake up call and that spool gets to put my gut into the back seat, its in those moments of watering eyes, rubber coated nostrils, and ringing i ears that I realize, all the stress and sleepless nights are so damn worth the big fat smile on my face and all those around who still love the sound and view of old school muscle laying down patch!
Q: What is a boat? A: A hole in the water to pour money in to. I love boating and the quote "The 2 best days in a boat owners life is the day you buy it and the day you sell it". But in all honesty, the money, work, headaches, heartbreaks, anger, blood, sweat and tears are all worth it and disappear when you're on the water with your family enjoying it all!
Love your inthusiasum and willingness to take a chance. I have built lots of stuff out of junk , including a rat rod made up of AN ASTUN AMERICAN, Datsun pickup frame 383 and transmission dodge and ford 9 inch, with 13 inch Terra tires and only rear brakes. Fun car.

I’m just glad y’all aren’t doing an electrical wiring contest, with my luck I’d get stuck with 12 volt Dave

Mike: "Oh yeah that is better. Hey look there's a dog!"
Mike, what a great rip! Most people just don't realize just how fast 130 mph is on the water! GAMEOVER is no joke. Men envy you, and fish fear you!!!
Who knew a 4” tool could make someone so happy 😂😂
It works for my wife.. lol
its not about the size, its about how you use it
Fluid dynamics: requires years of high level education and mathematics to understand.
Mike: 4in grinder with a cardboard template and picks up 15mph on his top speed.
Next time on Finnegan's Garage: We find out who really does all the welding around the shop.
I quote “don’t look behind you and don’t push the brakes ease off in to turns and accelerate out of them” 🏁
"I'm Mike Finnegan and I'm wearing kevlar shorts,a helmet, and flip flops."
After the welding contest: "Look honey, I made you this crooked 200lb coffee table out of spare car parts!"
That's crazy to see how fast a boat can go. Love seeing the progression that boat has gone through. 👍👍
“Take a little off the bottom” and she’s fun to ride again...........🤣🤣🤣
Who would've thought a bigger hole is better....?
"We don't have that kind of precision here." But proceeds to check if the valve lash is just a hair off... literally the thickness of a strand of hair.
good point. lol
Don’t think I’ve ever seen mike actually put on his kevlar enema protectors on to drive game over so I instantly knew she was going too a ripper!!

“Now I actually want to drive the boat” said every boat owner after ever fix.
My dad always told me never to buy anything that flies, floats, or fucks. You'll just go broke trying to get them to work
@@Awesummzzz Your dads a wise man.
"We don't have that kind of precision on Finnegan's Garage". Sounds like everyone I work with
1 out of 4600 at the moment. “So you’re telling me there’s a chance.... YEAAAAH!’.
Awesome. I just love that. Thanks for keeping the hobby alive. Motors make me live better.
“Sameness” Finnegan’s word of the day! Now I want everyone in class to use it in a sentence.
Hey mike, I’m stationed down in south GA I’d love to be a part of this build off. It’s been a passion of mine for years I’ve followed y’all since the beginning. Being in the navy makes it extremely hard to have a decent shop to create in . Thank you for all your great content.

“ I’m not saying you should do it”
Me- Looks over as my boat is sinking from my new speed keel delete
Lol i get it
That Boat is Awesome, I love seeing it fly by on the Toona, Great Job with the Grinder.
thank u
Mike- " this thing pulls so hard it's scary"
Dave- "yo Mike, did you change into your brown kevlar shorts on that pull?"
"I'm wearing a parachute, Kevlar shorts, a helmet and flip flops"
Thats almost a blues brothers quote if i ever heard one lol
At least he's not barefoot!!
Dave Freiburger isn't there, and damnit, SOMEONE has to wear them.
This needs to be a shirt!!!
I have no knowledge about boats and can't even swim but I always click these videos as soon as I see them haha
THANKS DUDE.
When I saw that foot pedal I knew your boat was a rocket! That Game Over is a ripper my friend. "I'm glad I didn't sell it now." I love it.
"Want me to hole shot it?" " Absolutely!" what sort of question is that Finnegan? :p of course we want the holeshot ;)
When Finn said “we have a full tank of gas”... who else recited the blues brothers??
Cleetus: Maddie were making a pit stop at mikes on the way home 😂
I remember working at a fishing camp in Alaska all summer. When I left and got on shore to go home I though I was going to die with how fast the bus was moving. It was the fastest I had been for months during the summer. I can only imagine 130 mph in a boat.
I have been impressed with all of your builds, I have been watching for years since the early C-10 came back to you and the ramp truck updates. Came over from the roadkill episodes. Keep up the good work.
“Ahh the good old grinder mod that’s good for atleast 15 mile per hour” -some random old dude at a drag boat race
Lightning McQueen: "I'm a precision instrument of speed and aerodynamics."
Mater: "You hurt your what?"
"You pissed in what"
“And yes I’m driving in flip flops” as if anything else on the water is required lol
Just like porting a set of cylinder heads. You grind off the right amount of material and the end result is so satisfying!
That’s even scary on screen you beast
"I think my dad is about to cut the boat" - Your kid clearly has seen the show before
"I think my dad is gonna cut the boat"
"Something like that" -Mike Finnegan
You know I’ve had that same dang feeling about a thousand times building my first ever project/drag car/P.o.S. My ‘75 makes me scratch my head so damn much I’m going bald. But..... but.... (on occasion) those pipes get to sing the neighborhood wake up call and that spool gets to put my gut into the back seat, its in those moments of watering eyes, rubber coated nostrils, and ringing i ears that I realize, all the stress and sleepless nights are so damn worth the big fat smile on my face and all those around who still love the sound and view of old school muscle laying down patch!
I can only imagine the Karen’s on the lake that hear game over and go “that mike Finnegan needs to grow up”
If he ever does, the entertainment value of his channel will tank. LMAO
The Karen's are plentiful around here.
@@wakkogn9351 no such thing as growing up the toys only get bigger and more expensive lol
@@DAPerform You got me there!!! My RC car when I was 14 was $69. The one I got a couple weeks ago was $569. Let's not even talk about the real cars...
@@wakkogn9351 trust me I know lol I’m only 25 and I’ve got 2 project’s going on right now, drag camaro and a daily driver corvette
7:54 - That mean you're gonna go hovercraft racing with ol' Cleetus now?
Cleetus gave that to him.
My employer was offered a boat... He declined the offer since "It made as much economical sense as burning his money in the furnace"
B = Break
O = Out
A = Another
T = Thou$and
Love your inthusiasum and willingness to take a chance.
I have built lots of stuff out of junk , including a rat rod made up of AN ASTUN AMERICAN, Datsun pickup frame 383 and transmission dodge and ford 9 inch, with 13 inch Terra tires and only rear brakes. Fun car.
