Love the Roger's videos. Keep them coming... Mike the videos and pictures of the Roger's will be sent to you soon. Had to find them. I,m sending a bbc burnt piston from the blower motor also..newburn you have the excitement I had every time I put a new motor in her. I'll say again. I'm glad you guys saved this boat. The memories going thru my head as I watch it run across the water.
I did. Sold it around 2007. Mike and his cousin ended up with it through a second party mystery Sale. Lol. Boat was ran mostly on clear lake in California.
I had the privilege of skiing behind a boat similar to this back in the early seventies. The owner's son was a national speed skiing champion. I was a lifeguard at Lake Barkley State Park and there is great water to ski nearby. Enjoy!
Our family ordered a new 1976 Rogers Bonneville TR with the blueprinted balanced 454 at the time was rated at 440hp . Loved that boat I'm sure the second owner still has it! Fun and fast running loose with place diverter all the way UP! Same colors Camaro Hugger Orange with white!
Kevin reminds me of a friend who owns a tattoo shop .no examples on the wall .no tattoos on him self just an award winning portfolio. And so reserved as he draws the art
Im not gonna bash the pan company, but issues like that are why I became a fabricator and do everything I can myself...Way too many times Ive had to fight with parts that are "bolt on".the downside is now people come to me to fix stuff haha..Theres no excuse for parts to leave the manufacturer with flanges being that far out of whack...
It's just plain old lack of Quality control, even a grinder jockey like me knows that when you weld stuff it warps and that oil fitting block was going to be trouble no matter what. Very much a Buzz it up and send it out kinda thing youd expect from nasty chinese parts but not from the USA.
I know, too many performance parts say "Bolt on" but they damn sure ain't.i have a friend who ordered a fiberglass hood and of coarse it said bolt on and it did bolt on but the actual fit was horrendous, like the corners were 2 and 3 inches high or low. And fitting a fiberglass body panel is no simple job. . So in my mind bolts on means you are going to have to make it fit after you " bolt it on" .
I have a supercharged Chevelle with a serpentine belt driving a Vortec 10psi SC'r, I have had every kind of bad issue with that serpentine belt system. I have now purchased a 30 PSI Vortec SC'r with a cog belt drive system. No more serpentine systems ever.
Helped a guy fix his jet boat on a lake camping trip (carbs)On the last day he took my friend and I for a ride. After a fast bumpy ride we entered the no wake zone. He lost steering. He looked back at me and said grab the vise grips and clamp the steering cable for me! I’ll never ride in one again. Nice seeing this one built correctly 👍
@finnegan'sGarage next time try lapping the bottom of the oil pan AFTER you bend it back. Use 3M spray glue on the back of 4 pieces of sandpaper and glue it down to a flat table. Then smear a little Kerosene on it and rub the oil pan in a figure 8 pattern until you get a fresh clean pattern across the whole mounting surface. Never leak again.
Hearing the water slap against the hull of the boat just got me out of my living room and out in the garage with the TV on and the boat out of the field and in the shop 😁
I love how FInnegan knows exactly how a jet pump absorbs horsepower. Thank you for being a good source of information. Including clearances, curves, etc.
Hey Finn, that's how you breathe new life into a 45 year old Rogers Hot Rod Jet Drive. Way to go Mike. I love seeing these Hot Boats out on the rivers and lakes! Too Cool!
Dannnnng guys. Getting SERIOUS Harry Hogg and Cole Trickle Days Of Thunder feels when that music kicks in at 7:05 that scene was AMAZING! Been loving this boat since I saw it in Roadkill. Keep up the great work!
Getting there, getting there. There are projects that everything just seems to drop in, then there are.... and you have to wrestle EVERY part and 10th to get it together and you have to sneak up on it, getting there!
If you wanna get around filling in oil checking for oilpan leaks just put a good bright led flashlight in the pan, leave off the gasket and screw it shot - dimm the shop lights and look where the light breaks through. Anything off will show up pretty easy and everything without any oil clean up afterwards. Give it try - Regards Smarty
David is enjoying his sweet jetboat, nice! He is a great part of the channel. Kevin is killing it again, doesn't matter if it's a car of a boat, if it needs to go fast, Kevin of KSR got your back!
Thanks for making Jet Boats Great Again! And like Finnegan said, pumps being built specifically for your engine is key, shout out to Larry’s engine and marine Tucson Az for blueprinting mine. She screams.
Quality control! Most Manufacturers don't have a quality control department the customer is the quality inspector. 7 out of 10 things I buy don't fit or it's missing parts or broken.
It’s great to see some current Jet Boat technical content. These LS engines are at least 200 lbs lighter than an iron big block so it will be great to see the results. The tunnel ram looks wicked but at 5000 RPm I’d like to see if it would pick up speed with an ugly dual plane intake.
Your comment is what I was looking for. You are correct, that big ugly intake is killing overall power big time, especially in a boat. Boats need an overall good powerband/lots of torque throughout the powerband. You put an air gap rpm dual plane or similar intake, and that boat will pick up power across the board, at get to it's top speed way faster. Those tunnel rams are outdated 70's technology that actually cost you power. Very surprised they went with that intake set up
My father was one of the first people to own a jet boat in the US, back then the only one available was a 3 stage ( I still have the pump). I would love to see a comparison of "pull power" between 1,2 and 3 stage pumps. I know the speed of a single totally blows away a 3 stage, but would like to see a "power" comparison, Great video, great work on the boat.
I have a sweet spot in my heart for jet boats. My best memory with buddies was in a jet boat on the lake. Now 25yrs later my other buddy has one with a BBF im working on might have to get my self one.
Glad you got it on the water That boat was my first fast boat built a big block Chevy on shoe string Took 3 years make 100 Scard the crap out me Really like your videos
Recently sold my exact same model jet boat called "Thearpy". BBC 454 with same type headers. This boat had primitive type cooling though. Had to manually open and close water valve while driving to cool exhaust. Was nice to see Mike's shiny chome pipes, because mine had blued from overtemp. Enjoyed video!
Rain or shine , that’s what it’s all about ….having fun ! 😎 A friend of mine has one of them with a big block 454 with a solid lifter cam and water cooled headers , one mean fun boat and rooster tails for 50 yards ! 😎
You can see the love Finn has got for his buddy when he tells Kevin "this is his first boat with headers" felt like " I wanted this for him, wanted him to experience this" I hope this channel lasts forever!!
You need too let Kevin sensor it up to the Max, weather system and all with a computer that auto tunes based on conditions. That would be awesome. Everything needs a Turbo maybe even Two.
Love seeing Kevin from KSR is getting around
He’s the biggest helper for everyone that wants to go fast!
Kevin Knows his shit....all 3 of them do.....

100% agree, I love all the Finnegan crew and the Cleetus guys and Kevin just brings a whole vibe and I love it

P.s that thing hole shotted like a beast. Won alot a races against v- drives because of how hard that boat would leave out the hole.
You used to OWN This boat!???
I did. Sold it around 2007. Mike and his cousin ended up with it through a second party mystery
Sale. Lol. Boat was ran mostly on clear lake in California.
it's been a fun project. thanks!
Good to see Kevin from KSR at your shop! Already knew he did the tuning on Game Over, good to see the love continues.
I live on the lake right by where they are doing this and was trying to take a nap. This thing is loud and sounds awesome.
Most of neighbors probably didn't appreciate the wonderful sound of LS jetboat with open headers 🤣😂
Sorry about that
Makes a great alarm.. lmao..
Me too I hear them pretty often. It’s not a bad sound lol
@@12VoltDave you're way cooler than Cotten. That dude is a jackass.

Weird catch, but at 12:18 under load the belt starts to walk off the balancer.
ya also at the very end what was leaking by the intake? fuel?
I came to the comment to ask about the belt walk on the balancer to see if anyone noticed it.

IKR he is sooo ocd in a good way

Never thought of it like that but being on water like that is similar to being on a engine dyno. Engine masters lake side edition.
really enjoyed seeing Dave in his boat. there was something special about it.
