Boatkill! The Muscle Truck-to-Boat Extreme LS Engine Swap! - Roadkill Ep. 36

- On this episode of Roadkill, the boys are back to kick off Season 4 with their most epic engine swap to date! This time Finnegan and Freiburger drag an old Rogers Bonneville jet boat to a local Southern California lake behind the Muscle Truck, a lowered 1974 Chevrolet C10 pickup that's powered by a Chevrolet Performance LS6 crate engine. Once at the lake, they proceed to remove the engine from the truck and install it into the boat, hoping to do a little drag racing during the Tom Papp Memorial boating event. As usual things don't go as planned but the guys still manage to have fun involving an outhouse, shower curtains, scummy water and a trailer hitch. Oh yeah, did we mention that after going boating Finnegan and Freiburger still had to take the engine back out of the boat and re-install it into the truck to get home?

no. Those corporate fuckers would squeeze every dime out of the show. You'd see about 5% action and 95% ads. Ask Stacey David.
Once a new format is proven successful in TV, the show that did it rules the roost. Given the right network, deal and advertising, this show would destroy and still retain it's spirit. I would rather watch Roadkill over any other automotive TV show and I think that most other automotive content consumers would agree. And who's Stacy David :)
JC Image Inc I don't think it would. Grueling schedules and producing a show once a week would ruin everything this show is about. Stacey David has a show on tv (spike I think, or speed) that is about cars, there is not a minute on that show where you don't hear about some plug for some new tools or parts. There is too much ad and not enough information/entertainment value which makes the show boring sometimes. It would be cool to have a show like roadkill on tv but don't do it with roadkill, as they are doing a great job and it would just ruin their layout which many people like.
This being episode 36, it means roadkill has been going for three years! Happy 3rd birthday!

I'm always impressed at how Dave and Mike seem to have NO trouble dropping engines in cars without the transmission already attached to it.
When I put the engine tranny combo back in my 65 imp I attached the tranny outside the car, had the whole front clip already removed and STILL it was one of the toughest weekends of the project.
Now take the engine and put it in a small plane, then fly it.
That would be cool because there are planes powered by LS engines. But the only LS engines used in some planes are LS3s.

You could do that with a Lexus LS400, the engine is certified for use in aircraft.

Just found these RoadKill episodes. Love the hell out of them!! Back in the late 70's myself and a couple buddys would do off the wall shit like this and do road trips to nowhere special, just road trips in things we put together. Keep em coming! Best vid's on Utube in my opinion! One time we took a body off a old Kenworth Semi and installed it over a short bed chevy pickup and drove it around on a Friday night cruise night.

Guys my nine,almost ten, year old loves roadkill. It is surprising as I have actually tried to discourage him a little from being a gearhead like his old man.

Hank Rearden I've got respect for your son I'm a gear head (I guess) when i was 7 or 8 I had cars all over the place just layed around sometimes my most favorite cars I treat well put them in a shoe box separated them with a clean cloth and that would superstate them from crashing I still have those cars to this day

They have some crazy premises for these show but in the end these are some talented guys. The fact that they can bring these forgotten vehicles back from the dead in the timeframes that they do it is nothing short of impressive. I recently discovered this show and have been on a marathon since. Totally inspired to go make something fun. Thanks for putting these online for everyone to enjoy and keep it up.

I would love to see you guys do a LS motor and trans swap into the mazdarati pickup think then you would hit the low 10's like originally planned.
I don't think there is a gearbox that would fit in the current configuration. If they went with a FR configuration it'll fit and even run 9's with a decent budget turbo LS, but it would ruin the charm the car has.

I love this show.. I find myself watching this show every day now... I have learned a lot... they never focus on the destination.. they just have along the way... not a new idea.. but a great one for sure... I am trying to do more of that in my life... just have fun and laugh everyday... you will have fun even if you never get anywhere in particular. Keep up the great work Roadkill team.

They should in fact never paint the truck because the look of that truck inspires me every time I see it to own one (or of a similar descent) and I don't want to lose that feeling that in term keeps me watching the same episodes over and over.

jayive34 Lol shitty, ya, that's why it is reliable as fuck, thousands of aftermarket parts, simple, light weight, and one of the most acclaimed powerplants ever made, and its only 15 years old. For under 40 grand, you can built one to outperform any engine Koeniggsegg can produce, and they will charge you 150 grand + for 1300hp. Haha what a joke. I can take a 6L truck engine to 2000hp before you can take anything else on earth to 2000hp. LS FTW
