TLDR: I discovered kind of accidentally that I work very well and very hard for 1 hour and 50 minutes. I had set a 2 hour timer one day prior to a meeting. I stopped working because I was bored and discovered I was 10 minutes off of 2 hours. Coincidentally, I did the same thing a few days later. Exact same result: my brain said I'm done at 1 hour 50 minutes. I now set a 2 hour timer, stop automatically 10 minutes before it goes off and take that as a break. I also work from home as an independent contractor with --- luckily --- four clients. I rotate through all four clients each day and devote a half hour at the beginning and end of my day for organization, planning and pep talks, so I work more or less 8 hours a day, just in odd chunks. In between two hour segments, I'll go do laundry, make lunch, walk, do other household chores. I count those as side quests and find they last just as long as it takes to make a cup of coffee or heat up lunch. The ADHD have-to-get-it-done-before-something-ends kicks in and I take full advantage of it. I also take a nap occasionally -- which lasts just about 2 hours. It's created a very odd side effect feeling there are more than seven days in a week though. Some days seem very expansive, like I'm surprised to find it's still Tuesday, rather than days later, because I've done a whole bunch of 'things' and see progress, but I haven't yet given up on any one thing. There are other days where I just stay in bed and don't bother 😺
I appreciate this revelation. Thanks for showing how it works when you let yourself stop when you can't anymore. It seems so much more productive than struggling to continue when your mind has checked out.
@@Metqa I'm happy my weird ways are helpful. I have been trying -- and mostly succeeding -- to be very consistent with this. Part of it working, I think, is I know when I can take a break, many breaks. It's a mini-reward every two hours. And on days when I'm really struggling, I do push myself with some mind tricks. Like saying "it's only an hour" and then "oh, hey, that was okay. Now it's less than an hour. Easy peasy." There are some days with many, many little pep talks, but they are fewer than before. It's helped me understand when I can push myself -- and more importantly, how to push myself if I need to to meet a due date -- and when it's just time to give up and do something else. Or sleep. And because I am not concise: I have sleep-in Tuesdays. Not sure why that day -- probably b/c I work weekends and nights mostly -- I just stay in bed until I don't want to. It's another reward, so to speak, and having it semi-scheduled, I don't feel guilty when it happens. I have some chronic pain issues and one day a week with ice or heat and rest is usually a good thing anyway. And if I'm feeling pain-free and productive, then it's a win-win and I get more stuff done.
I’m probably a more conceptual learner. Once I get the larger breakthrough on something, anything, it instantly becomes much more interesting which is when I watch videos and make visual aids for myself
Same!!! I like to be good at something. I noticed that I don’t like hard things and everything is hard in the beginning. But I have been doing intentionally hard things recently and I love it!!!!
Me too. I need to get the principle behind the task, no matter how clear the explanation has been. If I don't understand the 'why', and the application, at gut level, I cannot even begin without help. It was years before I realised I needed more information, in a different way, to others.
Genuine question, how? I showed it to an ADHD friend and they laughed and said no ADHD person would ever watch it because of the length and monotonous content.
@@DodieSa Also if you watch it with headphones, the music in the background really helps "scratch" your brain. It's not quite binaural audio, but it's just mellow enough. Kinda like putting on some LoFi when you have a task to do.
@@DodieSa To give you a context we are the similar and different in the same time, similar mecanism but different context, support, age, culture, health, so the "no ADHD person" is a big bullshit shortcut...😅. Exemple, there is a huge difference in focus if you see a video because you're interested in the subject or someone throw it at you while you're focus on something else and don't want to even bother "wink", depend also of the time of the day if you see it when you're high on low on dopamine when I know it's not the best moment I keep it for later. Well, if you're not a doomscrolling junky with burned dopamine receptor ofc :D Btw did he really watched it or just looked at the total time and said that without a second thought? It's something that we struggle on some stuff but it doesn't mean we are total victim of it and can't or shouldn't try, just need to accept our brain functionning and work around it, I'd say not harder but (in our way) smarter 😄 Like everyone we can be lazy for real at time and that's okay. And yes his editing is ADHD Friendly I'm looking at this on low dopamine, sometime I lose focus I just come back to the last time stamp or keep it for later Again we are all different 🤷♂So while we have common mecanism that he explain very well, generality is ironically not ADHD Friendly

Nobody, in my opinion, is able to be so simple and clear and true anb deep explaining what happen in adhd brain as you do. Thanks to your video Im absolutly going through a lot of AHA moments that I din't expected. Yes the hustle notion simply doesn't t work BUT worst it causes frustration and very bad low frequency emotions , a demage fo r the whole person. It so makes sense ....I do not have so many problems doing my work in the Office ( I am a clinical psychologist), because my Job is full of variety, every day is different, every hour is different....and I am helping the clients with their issues , and they are giving me very good Feedback, which is very fulfilling.....What I find challenging are my everyday household Tasks at home.....as soon that comes into my mind I find myself feeling almost immediately complete tired and exhausted. The same occurs with having to write long reports on my clients ....my eyes get so tired doing so.....
Same same. I guess I picked the right job (social worker with people with disabilities - never boring, always challenges) - but recently I don't find any energy to do household chores and paperwork.. its terrible...
You can hire someone for many of your home tasks. House cleaning or maintenance, yard care, dog walkers, home meal prep delivery, laundry service. Ordering your groceries online and doing curbside pickup on the way home. Lots of home tasks can be outsourced.

Im a butterfly or chameleon. I bounce through all the learning styles. The one that is most effective for me wasn't mentioned. That's teaching the information. I wanted to learn shibori fabric dyeing. Too boring. So I offered to teach a class. I learned so I could teach others. My 1st project was my class sample, made the night before class, of course. Great class, good results. I did the same thing for paper marbling. One of my students became a professional paper marbler. I never touched it again.
I’m primarily an experience-learner. Experience is the best teacher and might be supported by other types of learning, like verbal, visual and auditory. Information without the experience doesn’t have the same value for me
I seem to need to know everything about a subject-when I'm fully knowledgeable about it, I get a sick feeling and don't want to even look at it. I got hooked on PC's late 1980s, the internet 1990's, iPhones early 2000, Blockchain technologies and now AI - I've been very successful in my working life as an IT and business consultant. I semi-retired during covid lock downs and published 17 business/self-help books 2020 - then outsourced the translations into Spanish. I'm totally absorbed in turning those books into online courses now. It is ALL absorbing. I love the process. My wife told me about ADHD... It seems I have most of the traits. I'm in my 60s and am working through it.
Hi, that's fascinating. I am about along the same path as you described above but maybe about 15-20 years younger. Went through different fields/subjects and absorbed everything I found interesting and read (5 sets of encyclopedia as a kid), studied and graduated in different fields&interests - architecture, computational science, postgrad in finance, picked up professional certs in IT (CCNA/CCNP/but not the ultimate CCIE!): after graduation first job in IT consulting during the first Internet boom and the talent war then for CCIE Internet Infrastructure/Network engineers/consultants (immediate 300K sign-on bonuses - shifting from legacy Marconi/Nortel to Alcatel/Lucent Telco routers/switches and then to Cisco/Juniper/Extreme frameworks, basically building out the backbone infrastructure of the global Internet as we know it today). Bridged the switch from IT systems integration consulting to technology strategy/investment research and went into finance thereafter - analyst/trader/portfolio management for most of my career. But my first loves and greatest interests and most knowledgeable areas are still philosophy and architecture... Our buzzing minds that has so many far-flung interests and want/need to know everything about them... I work in a call center where sprints isn’t possible. I hate this job, but I’m stuck since it pays better than anything around here. I have to work at the times when my brain is the most energized and focused. So depressed.
Make sure that you schedule time each day, outside of work, to do an activity that you enjoy e.g. jigsaws, workout whatever. It helps to keep the depression monster away. Maybe find a way to see the ridiculousness of your plight? Develop a call centre bingo card based on customers or bosses, and see if you can tick all the boxes? It's easy to say from my parents basement but nothing is forever.
I find strategising for efficiency helps me with boring tasks. Strategise how to make the calling process more efficient. Use chat gpt to help you come up with certain scripts or something. Problems solve something. Analyse people dynamics of who you call. If you’re selling learn psychology tactics to help you.
There are three Buddhist ways of watching television. It's essentially the same way, but it looks different at different stages of practice. First, you watch TV with the sound off. For about half an hour a day, your favourite shows. When the thought arises that something important and interesting is being said on TV, you become aware of it the moment it occurs and thus neutralise it. At first you'll cringe and switch on the sound, but gradually you'll get used to it. The main thing is not to feel guilty when you can't help yourself. It happens to everyone at first, even llamas. Then you start watching TV with the sound on but the picture off. And finally, you start watching the TV switched off. This is actually the main technique, and the first two are preparatory.
I haven’t taken a break or lunch at work in over 2years. I and a store manager and have been working harder to delegate through my assistant and supervisors to keep from shouldering everything myself. It’s hard for me to utilize others to get work done.
I love the idea of outsourcing areas of weakness. Could you do a video on examples of outsourcing or resources for resources that has help you? That would be helpful.
I can give you a few. Hiring a house cleaner or yard care person. Having an automated sprinkler system installed in your yard. Hiring an indoor plant care person. Subscribing to one of the meal prep services, like Hello Fresh, so preportioned ingredients ship to your door. Using a dog walker. Ordering groceries online for either home delivery or curbside pickup. Using AI where applicable in your business life or home. Asking Alexa! Having any prescriptions set up for automatic home delivery. Some are free, some are pricey, but that should get you thinking about possibilities.
And here I am trying to muster up the willpower to go get the icecream from the fridge because I got tired of all my other snacks that are scattered around me on the couch...
Tip. If you have a slow laptop/computer, either max out the memory AND get an SSD for it or get rid of it. Waiting plus one and a half minutes for a page to load not only drives our type insane,but the diversion factors is crazy. I end up with a million tabs, and nothing solved. Trying to start a new AI related business has been crazy with this thing. Anywho Web3, chatgpts, and cryptocurrencies have been the time drainer so i can get something off the ground. New SSD and 8gb are on the way. Glad i found this channel. I'm constantly all over the place learning everything that pops up in TH-cam. Forcing myself to get set financially in the meta verse. Ditch the slow computer, we think too much to be bottlenecked by loading pages....squirrel!😂😂

Even though few years ago I heard these four mysterious letters, still I didnt know that I would feel so many sympthoms in my life now. I remember myself during covid when I worked from home, and just simply couldnt start working, but somehow one day I realised that cant focus for so long when the work becomes extremely boring for me. I turned on my alarm and set it up for 30 minutes work, 10 pause, because otherwise I would forget to eat and drink when on the otherside the work was so interesting for me. After a month of watching your videos and reading some material about adhd, finally I understand one thing that make sense. Because I was born in another country than the one I grown up, I used to think that I act and think differently, because of my origin, but now I see that the real reason is - its just symphoms of adhd. I suspect it's related to an issue with differentiating between what I have to do, what I want to do and what other people want me to do. I'm fine slugging away at something - it's when other people make me feel guilty for not going bigger or faster.. That's when the wheels come off.
As someone who suffers with extreme severe anxiety I can totally relate to her. I would stop eating for days at a time as a punishment. I worry a lot about my life, everyone around me and pleasing everyone. It's absolutely crippling, so glad she got the help she needed, lovely young lady it's so sad that society has 1 in 3 people suffering mental health issues. I hope everyone seeks help

Now I nerly only watch youtube in english becaue there are so much better videos than in german. Now im at the level were I have fun to comunicate with people in english. Going into another country whould be pretty interessting to improve my english. I think its the fact that I learnd it more subcontuestly and by using it in practice by listening and reading instead of theoretic learning that has made it easy for me to learn. Wanting to watch the yoububevideos without constanly reading the subtitels gave me the motivation

This one was fantastic! Thank you. The “firebreak” is something I’ve been doing for about 7 months now without even realizing it. I always go on a bike ride during my lunch break and have no idea where I’m going. I let the impulsiveness take the wheel (handlebars?) and end up seeing new places while also getting the mental boost from the exercise. That sometimes puts me in dicey situations with traffic, and/or being away from work longer than I should be..😅 but I also come back from the physical sprint ready for another mental “sprint” in the least novel environment imaginable.. on the phone in a cubicle.😂

This video is amazing. 🎉 Firebreaks! This has been the missing piece for me. I do 25 minute intervals, but could never get back into it. It was painful. I would watch people do 45 minute intervals, take a 5 minute break and get back to work. I always wondered what’s wrong with me? Why can’t I do that? Now I get up and do something totally different and come back when ready. I just have to make sure I don’t scroll or do something too dopamine intensive. Or else I won’t have any left for more studies. 😅 Thanks and subscribed!
I’m a design draftsperson and my job involves a lot of 3D modelling and problem solving which I excel at. It also involves a lot of monotonous tasks like placing symbols all over sheets to represent certain pipe sizes etc. The day I started outsourcing these monotonous tasks to our juniors I started to enjoy work so much more and perform better because I didn’t always have that nagging in the back of my head.
Watching and listening to this video has really opened my eyes to my son's world. He struggles at school, with focus, but other times of the day in school, he can do fantastically. I would like to show him this video, but i am wondering if you could also do a school friendly, simpler version. As i know my son gets frustrated with himself over not being able to start things..he gets stuck! 😔 thank you for your content 👏👍😊
Some strategies that have helped me: do 5 things. Only five things (or 10, you choose). OR 10 minutes. So 5; items of dishes, or 10 minutes of homework. Setting a timer to see how much you can get done in 10 minutes. Also, fail faster. I can get so hung up on wanting to do a good job that I can't start. Plan to fail. Start out with the goal of failing. It gets you over the starting hump.
Audio learning and kinetic, which considering the methodology of my US educational experience was 'sit still, stay quiet, and read your assignment' which is impossible unless I love the topic it's no wonder I failed English with all those boring classical literature requirements about how much life sucked in 18th century Europe, looking at you Les Mis, but give me a modern classic that was about science or some of Shakespeare's satirical works and I could deconstruct it for hours.
I have a habit of writing down what I see and hear e.g. this video. My problem is I never look at it again. I do this so much - I'm kind of addicted to it - can you please advise how I can stop this habit? Mostly while I'm doing it - I enjoy it - I kind of feel high - but then I literally forget it. @@colleendemaio We need to make sure in our breaks we should never do activities that gives a lot of pleasure than the work. I would recommend doing random workouts during the breaks. I also use a smart watch with pomodoro app in it, which helps me get powerful cues to do the work as I start.
At the age of 45, I've become more of a marathon with firebreaks type of guy. No more sprints, stress, pressure: the job will.get.done. And that feeling of closure afterwards...priceless
Depends on the things i need to learn...if it is a college course, i learn visually, i retain the page number where the info i need is located, the position on the page, the color is written with etc. And it helps alot if i write the info, not just reading it from a book, because i retain info while i write😅 If i need to learn to use a program, for example, i learn by doing...intuitive...maybe watching a tutorial but i just look for the little info i need in that moment, like where is the button that does that thing, so i always skip thru tutorials and watching at 2x speed (i love it when there are chapters) 😂 The problem with the sprint is that once i take a break, i freeze and i am not capabale of starting again😅

I cannot try harder. It gives me a headache and shuts my brain down. Instead I will rest for an hour. Usually I get energy later in the day after supper. I have protein and this helps.
I am trying to understand my brain, because my thinking style is compartmentalizing my feelings and converting into language, thinking linguistically and can think in pictures extremely clear, but sometimes my brain function is so bad that I have trouble talking. I am diagnosed autistic as a little kid but I also relate a lot to adhd which I have a feeling people may assume that I maybe a hypochondriac for mental disorders though I am careful of saying that I have something.
It helpt me to just try randon calestanics and parkourskills i have seen or youtube. Or to just experement with the envirement instead of following a training plan.
You did something consistently for 4 years?!?! Are you sure you're ADHD?!? I mean... I brush my teeth more than 4 years but the mint wakes me up. And that refreshment excites and comforts me daily. It frames my day.
Do you have any advice about not leatting your breaks turn super long? I can only think of putting a second timer for the break to make that one also a challenge, need to be back before it runs out...
“You have permission to ask for help on your weaknesses” is true… unless you ask for help and get told “no.” That’s been my experience; numerous times. So then what? I’m usually left floundering on my own, which usually ends in burnout

I’m probably a more conceptual learner. Once I get the larger breakthrough on something, anything, it instantly becomes much more interesting which is when I watch videos and make visual aids for myself

Me too. I need to get the principle behind the task, no matter how clear the explanation has been. If I don't understand the 'why', and the application, at gut level, I cannot even begin without help. It was years before I realised I needed more information, in a different way, to others.

@@DodieSa Also if you watch it with headphones, the music in the background really helps "scratch" your brain. It's not quite binaural audio, but it's just mellow enough. Kinda like putting on some LoFi when you have a task to do.
@@DodieSa To give you a context we are the similar and different in the same time, similar mecanism but different context, support, age, culture, health, so the "no ADHD person" is a big bullshit shortcut...😅.
Exemple, there is a huge difference in focus if you see a video because you're interested in the subject or someone throw it at you while you're focus on something else and don't want to even bother "wink", depend also of the time of the day if you see it when you're high on low on dopamine when I know it's not the best moment I keep it for later.

Nobody, in my opinion, is able to be so simple and clear and true anb deep explaining what happen in adhd brain as you do. Thanks to your video Im absolutly going through a lot of AHA moments that I din't expected. Yes the hustle notion simply doesn't t work BUT worst it causes frustration and very bad low frequency emotions , a demage fo r the whole person. It so makes sense ....I do not have so many problems doing my work in the Office ( I am a clinical psychologist), because my Job is full of variety, every day is different, every hour is different....and I am helping the clients with their issues , and they are giving me very good Feedback, which is very fulfilling.....What I find challenging are my everyday household Tasks at home.....as soon that comes into my mind I find myself feeling almost immediately complete tired and exhausted. The same occurs with having to write long reports on my clients ....my eyes get so tired doing so.....

You can hire someone for many of your home tasks. House cleaning or maintenance, yard care, dog walkers, home meal prep delivery, laundry service. Ordering your groceries online and doing curbside pickup on the way home. Lots of home tasks can be outsourced.

Im a butterfly or chameleon. I bounce through all the learning styles. The one that is most effective for me wasn't mentioned. That's teaching the information. I wanted to learn shibori fabric dyeing. Too boring. So I offered to teach a class. I learned so I could teach others. My 1st project was my class sample, made the night before class, of course. Great class, good results. I did the same thing for paper marbling. One of my students became a professional paper marbler. I never touched it again.
I’m primarily an experience-learner. Experience is the best teacher and might be supported by other types of learning, like verbal, visual and auditory. Information without the experience doesn’t have the same value for me
I seem to need to know everything about a subject-when I'm fully knowledgeable about it, I get a sick feeling and don't want to even look at it. I got hooked on PC's late 1980s, the internet 1990's, iPhones early 2000, Blockchain technologies and now AI - I've been very successful in my working life as an IT and business consultant. I semi-retired during covid lock downs and published 17 business/self-help books 2020 - then outsourced the translations into Spanish. I'm totally absorbed in turning those books into online courses now. It is ALL absorbing. I love the process. My wife told me about ADHD... It seems I have most of the traits. I'm in my 60s and am working through it.
Hi, that's fascinating. I am about along the same path as you described above but maybe about 15-20 years younger. Went through different fields/subjects and absorbed everything I found interesting and read (5 sets of encyclopedia as a kid), studied and graduated in different fields&interests - architecture, computational science, postgrad in finance, picked up professional certs in IT (CCNA/CCNP/but not the ultimate CCIE!): after graduation first job in IT consulting during the first Internet boom and the talent war then for CCIE Internet Infrastructure/Network engineers/consultants (immediate 300K sign-on bonuses - shifting from legacy Marconi/Nortel to Alcatel/Lucent Telco routers/switches and then to Cisco/Juniper/Extreme frameworks, basically building out the backbone infrastructure of the global Internet as we know it today).
Bridged the switch from IT systems integration consulting to technology strategy/investment research and went into finance thereafter - analyst/trader/portfolio management for most of my career. But my first loves and greatest interests and most knowledgeable areas are still philosophy and architecture...
Our buzzing minds that has so many far-flung interests and want/need to know everything about them...
That has been the greatest blessing as well as greatest curse of my life - as I am sure those who suffer/exalt/endure/live with this same condition will understand

I work in a call center where sprints isn’t possible. I hate this job, but I’m stuck since it pays better than anything around here. I have to work at the times when my brain is the most energized and focused. So depressed.
I feel you there, my job is similar. It allows me to work from home so that's why I stay even though I loathe it.
Make sure that you schedule time each day, outside of work, to do an activity that you enjoy e.g. jigsaws, workout whatever. It helps to keep the depression monster away.
Maybe find a way to see the ridiculousness of your plight? Develop a call centre bingo card based on customers or bosses, and see if you can tick all the boxes?
It's easy to say from my parents basement but nothing is forever.
I find strategising for efficiency helps me with boring tasks.
Strategise how to make the calling process more efficient. Use chat gpt to help you come up with certain scripts or something. Problems solve something.
Analyse people dynamics of who you call. If you’re selling learn psychology tactics to help you.
There are three Buddhist ways of watching television. It's essentially the same way, but it looks different at different stages of practice. First, you watch TV with the sound off. For about half an hour a day, your favourite shows. When the thought arises that something important and interesting is being said on TV, you become aware of it the moment it occurs and thus neutralise it. At first you'll cringe and switch on the sound, but gradually you'll get used to it. The main thing is not to feel guilty when you can't help yourself. It happens to everyone at first, even llamas. Then you start watching TV with the sound on but the picture off. And finally, you start watching the TV switched off. This is actually the main technique, and the first two are preparatory.

I haven’t taken a break or lunch at work in over 2years. I and a store manager and have been working harder to delegate through my assistant and supervisors to keep from shouldering everything myself. It’s hard for me to utilize others to get work done.
I love the idea of outsourcing areas of weakness. Could you do a video on examples of outsourcing or resources for resources that has help you? That would be helpful.
I can give you a few. Hiring a house cleaner or yard care person. Having an automated sprinkler system installed in your yard. Hiring an indoor plant care person. Subscribing to one of the meal prep services, like Hello Fresh, so preportioned ingredients ship to your door. Using a dog walker. Ordering groceries online for either home delivery or curbside pickup. Using AI where applicable in your business life or home. Asking Alexa! Having any prescriptions set up for automatic home delivery. Some are free, some are pricey, but that should get you thinking about possibilities.
And here I am trying to muster up the willpower to go get the icecream from the fridge because I got tired of all my other snacks that are scattered around me on the couch...
Tip. If you have a slow laptop/computer, either max out the memory AND get an SSD for it or get rid of it. Waiting plus one and a half minutes for a page to load not only drives our type insane,but the diversion factors is crazy. I end up with a million tabs, and nothing solved. Trying to start a new AI related business has been crazy with this thing. Anywho Web3, chatgpts, and cryptocurrencies have been the time drainer so i can get something off the ground. New SSD and 8gb are on the way. Glad i found this channel. I'm constantly all over the place learning everything that pops up in TH-cam. Forcing myself to get set financially in the meta verse. Ditch the slow computer, we think too much to be bottlenecked by loading pages....squirrel!😂😂

Hi Nik! Thank you very much for sharing your experience and tricks, how to live better with Adhd. Im watching your videos often. Even though few years ago I heard these four mysterious letters, still I didnt know that I would feel so many sympthoms in my life now.
I remember myself during covid when I worked from home, and just simply couldnt start working, but somehow one day I realised that cant focus for so long when the work becomes extremely boring for me. I turned on my alarm and set it up for 30 minutes work, 10 pause, because otherwise I would forget to eat and drink when on the otherside the work was so interesting for me. After a month of watching your videos and reading some material about adhd, finally I understand one thing that make sense. Because I was born in another country than the one I grown up, I used to think that I act and think differently, because of my origin, but now I see that the real reason is - its just symphoms of adhd.

I suspect it's related to an issue with differentiating between what I have to do, what I want to do and what other people want me to do. I'm fine slugging away at something - it's when other people make me feel guilty for not going bigger or faster.. That's when the wheels come off.

As someone who suffers with extreme severe anxiety I can totally relate to her. I would stop eating for days at a time as a punishment. I worry a lot about my life, everyone around me and pleasing everyone. It's absolutely crippling, so glad she got the help she needed, lovely young lady it's so sad that society has 1 in 3 people suffering mental health issues. I hope everyone seeks help

Now I nerly only watch youtube in english becaue there are so much better videos than in german. Now im at the level were I have fun to comunicate with people in english. Going into another country whould be pretty interessting to improve my english.
I think its the fact that I learnd it more subcontuestly and by using it in practice by listening and reading instead of theoretic learning that has made it easy for me to learn. Wanting to watch the yoububevideos without constanly reading the subtitels gave me the motivation

@@ISTPRobin For grammar I'd suggest Apps on your smartphone that are like games. Duolingo, Apps where you have a blank space in the sentence and you choose to put the word in the correct form, tests.

This one was fantastic! Thank you. The “firebreak” is something I’ve been doing for about 7 months now without even realizing it. I always go on a bike ride during my lunch break and have no idea where I’m going. I let the impulsiveness take the wheel (handlebars?) and end up seeing new places while also getting the mental boost from the exercise. That sometimes puts me in dicey situations with traffic, and/or being away from work longer than I should be..😅 but I also come back from the physical sprint ready for another mental “sprint” in the least novel environment imaginable.. on the phone in a cubicle.😂

This video is amazing. 🎉 Firebreaks! This has been the missing piece for me. I do 25 minute intervals, but could never get back into it. It was painful. I would watch people do 45 minute intervals, take a 5 minute break and get back to work. I always wondered what’s wrong with me? Why can’t I do that? Now I get up and do something totally different and come back when ready. I just have to make sure I don’t scroll or do something too dopamine intensive. Or else I won’t have any left for more studies. 😅 Thanks and subscribed!

I’m a design draftsperson and my job involves a lot of 3D modelling and problem solving which I excel at. It also involves a lot of monotonous tasks like placing symbols all over sheets to represent certain pipe sizes etc. The day I started outsourcing these monotonous tasks to our juniors I started to enjoy work so much more and perform better because I didn’t always have that nagging in the back of my head.

Some strategies that have helped me: do 5 things. Only five things (or 10, you choose). OR 10 minutes. So 5; items of dishes, or 10 minutes of homework. Setting a timer to see how much you can get done in 10 minutes. Also, fail faster. I can get so hung up on wanting to do a good job that I can't start. Plan to fail. Start out with the goal of failing. It gets you over the starting hump.

Audio learning and kinetic, which considering the methodology of my US educational experience was 'sit still, stay quiet, and read your assignment' which is impossible unless I love the topic it's no wonder I failed English with all those boring classical literature requirements about how much life sucked in 18th century Europe, looking at you Les Mis, but give me a modern classic that was about science or some of Shakespeare's satirical works and I could deconstruct it for hours.
I have a habit of writing down what I see and hear e.g. this video. My problem is I never look at it again. I do this so much - I'm kind of addicted to it - can you please advise how I can stop this habit? Mostly while I'm doing it - I enjoy it - I kind of feel high - but then I literally forget it. My problem with Pomodoro is that my breaks are becoming longer than my work. Instead of a 5 minute break it became a 1 hour break. tf

@@colleendemaio We need to make sure in our breaks we should never do activities that gives a lot of pleasure than the work. I would recommend doing random workouts during the breaks. I also use a smart watch with pomodoro app in it, which helps me get powerful cues to do the work as I start.

• auditory
I learn best through movement and inuition, but like to use all channels😊

Depends on the things i need to learn...if it is a college course, i learn visually, i retain the page number where the info i need is located, the position on the page, the color is written with etc. And it helps alot if i write the info, not just reading it from a book, because i retain info while i write😅 If i need to learn to use a program, for example, i learn by doing...intuitive...maybe watching a tutorial but i just look for the little info i need in that moment, like where is the button that does that thing, so i always skip thru tutorials and watching at 2x speed (i love it when there are chapters) 😂
The problem with the sprint is that once i take a break, i freeze and i am not capabale of starting again😅

I am trying to understand my brain, because my thinking style is compartmentalizing my feelings and converting into language, thinking linguistically and can think in pictures extremely clear, but sometimes my brain function is so bad that I have trouble talking. I am diagnosed autistic as a little kid but I also relate a lot to adhd which I have a feeling people may assume that I maybe a hypochondriac for mental disorders though I am careful of saying that I have something.
