I hope you like the idea of a scrap blanket. It is very easy to crochet and is suitable for beginners and if you are an advanced crocheter it's a very relaxing project. Enjoy the tutorial, Anja xx
I’m using 2 threads, lol. The first two rows were challenging, but now I’m scrap busting through the easier part. I actually used stitch markers to count out every 20 stitches. Count and recount, too,
Beautiful, even workmanship. No matter how mixed these things get, they are always cheerful, pretty and warming. Best present i ever got as a child was a bag of richly mixed yarn leftovers and a bright red medium sized hook. I kept and used the resulting blanket for years, until it went to a young niece when she went away to school.
Absolutely SPLENDID idea/tutorial for using up ALL of those bins/bags full of yarn scaps we crochet ladies have piling up everywhere, in a truly gorgeous blanket! Thank you SO MUCH for this great project. I am starting this TODAY!
Thank you! I just vowed to myself that I am going to use up all of my current yarn stash before I purchase any more (other than to finish up projects that I ran out of yarn for). This is perfect! Thanks for the idea 💡!
I started making this using foundationless SC without watching ANYONE'S vids and the wondered why it was going out of shape...tracked down this vid to see what I was doing wrong...turns out I was adding a chain between the clusters to get to my third stitch along...so frogged and started again and now it's not looking wonky...thanks Anja.. also I'm the one who msgd you recently showing you the project basket I'd created after seeing you rummage through one of yours...I have a FB page where I post all my craftwork to, Grandma's Magic..I took on this persona when I use to wrap my eldest granddaughter in a blanket I'd made and she'd fall asleep almost instantly...DL was most grateful when I'd show up with my blanket/shawl and my GD had been wearing out her poor mum with constant crying...my blankets have spread the same magic to my great nieces & nephew..they LOVE bragging to people about their blankets and who'd made them..
After crocheting ferociously in 2020, I get the need for a scrap blanket! And I love the Granny stitch! Thank you for this tutorial....January to March are long cold months which now have a warm project ahead!
Thank you Anya. You have motivated me to use up all my scrap thread. I will start with this blanket. I really appreciate the love and the sharing. Please give Miss Layla my regards.
just finished this as my quarantine project! Made a blanket for my hubby who calls it his blanket of many colors! I love that it has lots of colors from past projects!
I've been searching for different patterns for my 6 childrens blankets and I absolutely love this pattern very simple and direct but beautiful ❤️ thank you.
Update: Following your very clear explanation and close up demonstration, I have lovely straight edges for the first time. I am using 2 threads and started with 132 chains and followed your instructions. It is my first granny cluster blanket that I have admired seeing on other videos but looked daunting. Now it’s just a matter of how long I make it. Thank you again. Will watch your other videos too.
I just started a blanket this evening, however I am going to start again now I've watched your video. Beautifully explained and demonstrated, thank you 😊👍
Hi. I love your guide. I'm doing this pattern to make baby shawls for charity. A group of ladies are doing it. I'm not so good so I found this easy to follow. Thank you. Take care love from South Africa
Oh how I love your video!! You made it so clear and demonstrated everything!! There was another video someone else did that said to turn the first row of chains over and stitch into the “bumps.” For me, that was too difficult. You don’t do that. So now, having watched you, I think I can do this. I’ve been admiring the granny cluster. Thank you for sharing.
I just came across your tutorial., I have seen many tutorial .. But I'm happy I came across to yours... I have plenty of different kinds of yarn... Threw the years... I'm wanting to use up all my colors...i got a big bag of yarn... So I guess I need to get busy... With this great tutorial....😁👍
Thank you so much for showing us this tutorial. I have been wanting to find a nice pattern for a scrap blanket and I think I am going to use this for my next one.
This is a great idea and alternative to the granny square which (for some reason, my squares are abstract)! I’ve accumulated so much extra yarn, this is a great way to use it up! Thank you so very much!
Carolyn Coppola To learn how to make a perfectly square granny square blanket, look up Fuad Azmat on TH-cam. Watch her tutorial on How To Crochet A Granny Square Cocoon Sweater. It is a great tutorial! Very clear! Very easy🌟 🎃Melissa
I’m using your colors, sort of 🤣 imitation is best for of complement ♥️ I will post progress on your FB page eventually. Looking forward to my son’s visit this weekend from FL. He is renting car so as not to be in plane & then come here. It’s an 8hour drive. I haven’t seen him since November. So, I am calm with this scrap blanket. Thanks again Anja! Happy Saturday!
Thank you so much!!! I wanted a blanket to make as a gift without doing a traditional granny square of going round and round and this is PERFECT!! I plan to use red, green and white with a varigated yarn of green, white and red yarn. I hope this turns out as BEAUTIFUL as yours looks. God Bless. DebbieAnna
This is a brilliant idea!!! I want to make this after I finish up my current project which is a virus blanket. I'll have plenty of left over yarn so this'll be lovely to use that up!!!
Yes indeed, doesn't it, I don't like the use it all up in one go and then go on to the next colour, this is much more pleasing to the eye Thanks for your input! Keep watching! xxx
Anja I've finished my scrap blanket.. well your (!) Scrap blanket 🤣🥰 and I loved it. I am considering making a box border also in scrap..around my scrap blanket. Thanks for this beautiful idea for scraps. 🥰❤
I love your video, I do not have problem with the terms you use, UK or US. I live in OKLAHOMA USA. I watch a lot of the UK videos and just convert the terms to US. Thank you.
The best!! I wished she made more tutorials. I’ve had to come back to this one video time and time again because her steps are simple and her blanket edges are so pristine. I’ve tried other tutorials and the edges on those granny stripe blankets are quite Wonky!
Thank you so much for this. I just made a swatch and it's so fun! Just one question if I may, the blanket you've made has smaller gaps between the clusters (looks denser). Did you use a different kind of yarn and hook size for it?
I'm very happy you use US terms because somehow i learnt in US terms 40 plus years ago, how I don't know I can't remember how or even who taught me 😮 x
This is my favorite video, I would love to get the Hiyahiya set because then I would have all the hooks that I use the most and I wouldn't feel like I need to run down to Joanne's all the time to get a new hook.
* Ch 198 (ch 1 turn) * sc row 1 (ch 2, turn) * 2 dc in same st (ch 2 counts as 1 dc), skip 2, 3 dc in same st, skip 2, 3 dc in same st, continue across, 1 dc in last st. (So 2 dc at beg. and 1 dc at end) * ch 2, turn. Continue each row doing granny clusters in the spaces, always starting w 2 dc and ending w 1
I enjoyed this scrap blanket video. I am a beginner and you make that crochet hook fly!!! I want to be entered into your Hiya Hiya hooks giveaway. My daughter says those hooks are the very best!
Hi from Australia I just saw this tutorial and Im amazed that you hold the hook the same as I do and your the first person I have seen hold it like me lol 🤣
I have only just discovered your channel and would like to say thank you as o now know how to hold my yarn which is comfortable for me. The scrap blanket what are the multiples please I would like to make a larger one thank you
Thanks so much Lynda I hope you are keeping an eye out for the Advent calendar starting on Saturday 1 December? It is very exciting, I have been filming and designing a lot the last few days, I hope you will enjoy it! Keep watching! xxx
AWESOME BLOSSOM ♥️👽💙 (the Alien head is because I live close to Roswell, New Mexico.) I have just the right amount of leftovers from making skull caps with the ear flaps and braids. Your's truly is a beauty with the right colors♥️ Happy New Year.!🥂🍾
Once the initial rows are done and you just do the rest with the clusters is the only project I can actually do without having to count for this or that. I can actually watch tv!!! 😊😊😊
Hi Ms. Ophelia, I liked this pattern for this scrap blanket and liked the idea of beginning the first row with single crochet. I’m just curious though I’m unable to locate the finished blanket, like did you also end the last row with single crochet and did you create a border for the blanket?
Here's the update, including the border Cynthia, if you do a search for scrap blanket on my page you will see all the videos listed. Anja x th-cam.com/video/jNpILbBHK88/w-d-xo.html&ab_channel=OpheliaTalks

What are the multiples for this stitch if I want it larger please. I have so much left over yarns from projects this would be fun to make.
I’m using 2 threads, lol.

I’m going to do this style for my first blanket.
I always go into the hump of the chain for the first row and then you have a nice chain edge for adding borders.
Thanks for this tutorial! Exactly what I was looking for! ❤
