Because the purpose of this car is a good handling, somewhat quick commuter car, not a sports car lol. Regardless, a $400 ktuner will get you around 240hp and torque with no other modifications. Honda lowered the boost pressure from factory to maximize longevity.
@Honda really needs to crank up the horsepower and torque on this car. It's been far too long that the MK8 Golf GTI with the last manual transmission for its 2024MY at 243hp, the Jetta GLI with its secondary refresh now still at 228hp and the out going Forte GT with 201hp and 195lb-ft of tq with its manual transmission have been tearing Honda up. Yes, the Civic Si was never about horsepower wars like the S550/S650 gen Mustangs, Alpha platform 5th/6th gen Camaros and the LX platform Challenger and Charger brothers, but in all honesty, the Civic Si really needs to be pushing 230-240hp like the AP1 and AP2 S2000s used to be and give it at least 215-225lb-ft of tq to be the true second most powerful Civic in the lineup over the Civic Hybrid and over its competition now that the MK8.5 Golf GTI is only DCT for the 2025MY (and the 2026MY) as this will be the final gen Golf cars ever built including the MK8.5 Golf R too, the secondary refresh Jetta GLI, and the new Kia K4. Staying stagnant at 200hp and 192lb-ft of tq is not a good look for Honda themselves and the Civic Si community. I get it. You can modify it if you want more power, but why ruin the warranty when it should come heavily performed out of the assembly plant line with the warranty?
I recently purchased a 2024 Mazda 3 carbon turbo sedan for $30,450 , and I truly think it is a better value overall than a Civic SI The Civic SI is still a great choice though, for a lot of people
On a side note, I know that the Mazda 3 Turbo only come in a automatic, but you can get a fully loaded Mazda 3 hatchback premium - manual- non-turbo, that makes roughly the same power ( 191 hp, 186 tq ) as the 1.5 turbo in the Civic SI for $30,000 ish msrp And it's much easier to buy a Mazda at MSRP or less than Honda with their crazy markups 🥴
The updated Si leaves Mazda in the dust with handling, brake feel, suspension, rear passenger space, manual trans...and a big one for me Fuel economy. Mazda wins with materials, awd, and acceleration. I'm not racing anyone, so the Si is the overall winner to me quite easily. Cheers! YOu have a great car no doubt.

The stupid civic hybrid they just bought to the states apparently also has 200hp and over 200 tq. So wth is the point of an si anymore and why couldn’t that torque be added to the si. I know that tq is thanks to the hybrid system but the si should be making atleast over 230 nowadays. Especially since a NON CIVIC SI WITH AN AUTOMATIC IS FASTER 😐

The '25 looks better, imo, but the 2013-2016 Si had a 2.4l that bests these, as well as every other model year of the Si. I'm not into losing almost a liter of displacement and all the low end torque, as well as over a half second in 0-60. I don't want a 1.5l pisswheel, and, much like the Type R, THIS CAR SHOULD"VE KEPT 2 DOORS, FFS!!!

No amount of fine-tuning design details overcomes the inherently ugly design foundation that Honda can’t seem to overcome. Blame it on Honda’s U.S. design center. Honda design peaked in the ‘90s with the EF Civic Si, CRX, Prelude, Accord, Odyssey, S2000 and NSX; most of these were designed in Japan. When will Honda management realize and bring in some inspired designers to match their technical and manufacturing prowess? It’s one reason Hyundai/Kia have surpassed them in total sales numbers.

Maybe if you’re a hot drawer and a four-cylinder, you could either tear the clutch out or blow the car up thank you.😅😊😊
It's a great car, but I don't know how anyone can call it the king of price-to-performance when a GTI is the same price and offers a significant performance bump. Si slightly bests it in handling, but with the Mk8, the gap isn't huge. And then let's talk about the Elantra N for just $2k more. Possibly the actual price-to-performance king?

@@brinderpanesar7761 Si looks fast, but it ain't. I am with you on the need for it to be faster. At the very least just put the accord 2.0t engine in it.
Yeah it sucks when you have a "sports injected" car that's slow
Because the purpose of this car is a good handling, somewhat quick commuter car, not a sports car lol. Regardless, a $400 ktuner will get you around 240hp and torque with no other modifications. Honda lowered the boost pressure from factory to maximize longevity.
What's weird is that in Europe the Civic has rear seat ventilation and usb's. So if you really wanted I guess you could retro fit it.
In Europe only hybrid
My 1974 Mazda had a redline shift buzzer.
I had a '73 Rx2 rotary.......it was sweet!
Problem is dealers are STILL marking them up
Not here in Kentucky
@@djmysticalone321 Or California.
@@stereoheadmtl5944which dealer?
They removed the mud guards too
Honda should apologize for the lack of power and work with Derek Two Step Performance or K-Tuner and offer that tune with extended warranty.
This isn't a video game, it doesn't work like that, doofus 😂
Hybrid has same hp and 40 more torque. Plus the mileage 😮
I want one and I’m close enough to get one 😊
The Tire pressure light has came one.
It looks sweet
Awesome
King of price and performance and its is slower than a Toyota Sienna. 20 years and the same 200hp and 7.0 second 0-60 lol.
I recently purchased a 2024 Mazda 3 carbon turbo sedan for $30,450 , and I truly think it is a better value overall than a Civic SI
The Civic SI is still a great choice though, for a lot of people
On a side note, I know that the Mazda 3 Turbo only come in a automatic, but you can get a fully loaded Mazda 3 hatchback premium - manual- non-turbo, that makes roughly the same power ( 191 hp, 186 tq ) as the 1.5 turbo in the Civic SI for $30,000 ish msrp
And it's much easier to buy a Mazda at MSRP or less than Honda with their crazy markups 🥴
@@Mike-wd8ri That is why I bought my 2023 Mazda3 Premium H/B with the 6-speed manual and the 2.5 liter naturally aspirated engine. My average mpg since day 1 has been 34.5
Agreed Mazda > Honda and the 3 feels premium and the civic fake premium. We need more mazda love!
It is faster but id still Argue the si is more fun
I wish there was a Mazda equivalent for this Si in terms of fun and price
Mazda 3 turbo? 250 hp six speed automatic no manual unfortunately
There is ..... 2025 Mazda 3 Hatchback 2.5 S Premium Manual - $32k. Maybe not quite as much fun but definitely quieter and better equipped.
Kirk, I am glad the Si is still around but it needs to be available as a hatch. And when I say 'hatch', I don't mean lift back. 🤨
That's why the Integra exists.
@@KirkKreifels It is a lift back.
@@rightlanehog3151which is still a hatch. If you want a hatch that looks like a minivan, GTI and Mazda 3 are for you.
Make it a hatchback si and maybe will consider it, but don't think that'll ever happen
Lower lip looks like Dart Vader
I had the 2000 SI in blue, I bought it at CoPart in 2002 for $6.7k and had that car for years. It’s my favorite Si, what’s yours people?
For some reason I’ve always been a fan of the 8th gen, but in a 2 door not the 4 door. I owned a 2007 2 door and had it for years. That thing could rev to the moon and back, and then they were really really reliable. Mine was in Habanero Red Pearl if I remember. Was a beautiful car.
That’s the one wanna get
The stupid civic hybrid they just bought to the states apparently also has 200hp and over 200 tq. So wth is the point of an si anymore and why couldn’t that torque be added to the si. I know that tq is thanks to the hybrid system but the si should be making atleast over 230 nowadays. Especially since a NON CIVIC SI WITH AN AUTOMATIC IS FASTER 😐
I’m not a Honda guy, but is it blasphemy to wish it came with a 8 speed automatic? Lol
They were supposed to be leather seats in 2025.... shame cause i wanted to change the 24 seat skins
Tbh, doesnt look like much of an upgrade, and i like the old gauges better
And granted..... i only drive mine in the summer, so im glad i got a '24 cause fog lights are of more use to me than heated seats..... i just want leather and the k20c1
The weakness is that its painfully slow, and doesnt offer all the options the civic has
Dealers will mark these up 😥
The GLI would like to have a word with you
civic sport touring hybrid 2025 with more power, better acceleration, low fuel...is a better choice!!
I like the sedan. We only get the hatchback. So that means we don’t even get the SI.☹️
Japan has the Si sold in hatchback form, called the Civic RS.
@@faheemabbas3965 not the same
I've had the same daily driver, a 2013 Si, since it was new. It's been the best daily I've ever had. Why should I downgrade to a new one? The '25 looks better, imo, but the 2013-2016 Si had a 2.4l that bests these, as well as every other model year of the Si. I'm not into losing almost a liter of displacement and all the low end torque, as well as over a half second in 0-60. I don't want a 1.5l pisswheel, and, much like the Type R, THIS CAR SHOULD"VE KEPT 2 DOORS, FFS!!!
It was great to do dinner with you the night before...
I had a 2017 si when it first came out n it had 205 hp. 7 yrs later it has 200 hp no up grade smh
Integra A-spec rims😅
that front chin is odd.
Definitely not king of price to performance. That title goes to Elantra N
I can think of many cars with better price to performance ratio
I’m waiting
@@Nitrofish72 ok. WRX, GR86, Elantra N, GTI, GLI, Miata
Only cars that I lost to in a race tuned vs tuned is the wrx by a car nd barley nd EN nd GTI sometimes . Brz easy call for me miata 🤣 easy call but Type R is obviously wayy faster everytime I line up they gape me 4-5 cars easily
2020 coupe is the best
No amount of fine-tuning design details overcomes the inherently ugly design foundation that Honda can’t seem to overcome. Blame it on Honda’s U.S. design center. Honda design peaked in the ‘90s with the EF Civic Si, CRX, Prelude, Accord, Odyssey, S2000 and NSX; most of these were designed in Japan. When will Honda management realize and bring in some inspired designers to match their technical and manufacturing prowess? It’s one reason Hyundai/Kia have surpassed them in total sales numbers.
the lower grille is ugly compared to the prefacelift
Remember to stay humble the hybrids can gap you too in yo sports car lmao just remove “si” badge lol
GTI > Si
30k+ just go for the type R
Correction: Elantra N is the king of price to performance.
Too bad it's Korean junk......
So, new grill… a couple braces, heated seats (20 years late), usb c ports. This makes for a new year model? So exciting. 🙄
Sport hybrid civic > civic si
King of price to performance? So there's this car called the Elantra N...
Warning ⛔️ I don’t get it take the Honda badge off of it put a Toyota badge on it. It’s got the same mouth you like them catfish that Toyota has been used forever. I can’t see the hype. I could not drive a stick in my age. My leg would go nuts and traffic pushing the clutch I tried it one time when I lived in Cincinnati and had a Honda stick and I was in rush-hour traffic I’m 2 lane highway. My life got so sore from pushing it in and out the next year I bought it automatic Cadillac. Maybe if you’re a hot drawer and a four-cylinder, you could either tear the clutch out or blow the car up thank you.😅😊😊
The king of price to performance is Elantra N.
Most uncomfortable seat I’ve ever had.
Unfortunately the civic hybrid has more power
