@jdslipknot I honestly think the hatchback will have a full GT version with Elantra N powertrain. I don't think KIA wants to step on the Elantra N toes with another performance sedan. And since it's no hatchback version of the Elantra, it makes sense that KIA will make their hatchback a performance one to compete more with the GR Corolla and Civic Type R.
@jeffrey-r8o That's what I noticed about Hyundai/Kia cars. They don't really share all the same features across the board. Right now, there's a hybrid version of Elantra. KIA could've made a hybrid version of the K4. But I guess they want the Elantra to shine in hybrid sales. However, there's an EV version of the K4 called the EV4 that will be released next year. Currently, there is no EV compact sedan version of Elantra as of yet.
We've had two Hondas, a 2019 Ridgeline and a 2019 Clarity. The Ridgeline had innumerable issues, and the Clarity also failed to impress. Honda's reliability reputation is highly overstated. I'd just go for the K4.
Is Honda, in general, the most expensive of the mainstream brands in Canada? In the U.S., it’s become that way but the price premium isn’t that insane.
@@KNRS927 Im guessing it is. Also the Honda equivalents did become MUCH more expensive than the competitors in America when they removed the LX trims. But then the market fell and they added them back in.
@@ayushmalpeddi2793 And even when they added the LX trims back, they still became quietly more expensive than the competitors. The K4 EX without options is $23,990, while the base LX Civic is $24,250. I'd go with the Kia because Honduhs are so ugly inside and out - that shrunken Accord look does not look good at all - and that hideous paint color on this tester - egads that is awful. The KIA K4 offers exceptional value for money and boasts a futuristic design, making it an appealing choice for consumers who desire a blend of functionality and modern style.
They're both awesome cars in their own way, and just depends what you want. I felt it was a fair comparison in that they're very close. Civic will be more reliable and more fun to drive imo, but it is also the most expensive model in a segment where shoppers are extremely price elastic and a few hundred dollars likely can sway their decision. I know the trims compared were the mid-trim models, but even a CIvic LX costs more than this Kia K4 EX. I just feel the K4 is a better value for your money given the features, the technology, and the price. If you want a car that'll likely last longer, is more fun, and are willing to pay for that, then Civic. You can't go wrong with either, just depends how price elastic you are and how long you intend to keep your car.
I bought a KIA Sportage Hybrid 2023, Issues: A/C (2 weeks waiting for the part and one week at the dealership) and a brakes problem (2 weeks at the dealership) But the WORST is how much I pay and today’s resell price. Kia depreciation is a real concern. I just got a Honda Pilot and I’ll trade the Sportage for a Honda Civic N/A to compense the loss with the time.
Having been a passenger in both of these vehicles the past week, I will say, the Kia K4 easily won hands down. I was in test drive. The K4 was much more comfortable the Civic. The seat was comfy for cloth. The interior looked nice and more modern. The exterior looked nice. The road noise was significantly less than the Civic Sport. The K4 had lights on the front door handes! So nice! The passenger seat in the K4 has height adjustment. The fit in finish on the K4 LXS had a nice fit and finish to it, for a compact car. The Honda seemed hard plastic fantastic. The display on the K4 is nice! Reminds me of the Kona. I will say, I would prefer a round steering wheel on the K4 though. Honestly, I would just go with the K4!
Sure! The Kia K4 is known for its stylish design and comfortable interior, plus it usually comes with some great tech features. On the other hand, the Honda Civic is super popular for its reliability and fuel efficiency, and it often has a sporty feel.
I like these videos. It is easy for us to make are own score also. As an example the door handles sensors are nice but to me no comparison to the K4 and it's quieter cabin.

Just checked out the K4. I liked it, except for that sluggish 147 hp, but certainly waiting for that 190hp GT Line Turbo option. The interior is the best around.
Difference in price - what I found is often overlooked is - first it actually is the spread plus tax (12% here so no little matter) - but more importantly the argument for "residual payback" is like putting money down in a lease - if something happens to that car it was all for not, including if the residual was under estimated and you ended up buying more car (because it is like the weather and more a forecast) - also that "future bonus" is *in the brands pocket and not yours,* so you are unable to use it for the time you own the car - either you are paying interest on it during that whatever term say 5 years OR you have lost certainly 4% to 8% investment potential conservatively during that "wait".
I do like both cars, but I love the tech on the K4. I drive on the highway to work twice a week. So my question Is, is the K4 fuel efficient? I know Hondas are definitely more reliable and fuel-efficient, but how does the K4 compare to that?

And oh yeah, the warranties aren't even close! Kia wins again, Sorry Honda, you lost me...for now.
My partner and I wanted a built in rental car in our fleet for road trips as none of our other pre-existing vehicles were ones we wanted to put substantial miles on. Yes, but honda needs to step it up on some of the amenities in their cars. Things like rear seat vents , standard wireless carplay,.A better infotainment system with better resolution on their cameras, overall they have outdated interiors. They can only live on their reputation for quality (which has been on the decline ) for so long before they lose market share. Agree the Civic is the best.
Sorry, but the K4 is not attractive looking. Has very weird styling. Civic looks so much better and classy
Its always a good idea to let go a new model until the issues are sorted. If it was me, I'll look at the 2026 or 2027 K4.
It's the same engine and trans as the previous 5 years at least so unlikely to have any major mechanical issues
@@ChrisM-dx8up New tech though and a new body. Electronic glitches and body integrity issues (creaks and rattles) might be an issue until resolved.
@@palebeachbum Right, but I mean that's a much more manageable risk for most compared to a brand new powertrain
@@palebeachbum I mean honestly yea it's probably smarter to wait but if I had the choice I wouldn't care since I know the power train is the same engine trans the forte and Elantra have had for years already
Warranty exists
Civic looks so much better.
K4 slaugthers Civic by design.
The K4 sedan is FUGLY with that odd looking disproportionately angled rear end. Looks much better in the hatchback version!
Open your eyes Japanese
Jesus Christ. Lucky Americans. In Croatia (EU) Civic is 46k and wage like 7x less than USA. So imagine buying a car like that.
you get free healthcare there, here in America, even sick people refuse to go to hospital because you will get $500,000 USD medical bill for 1 month hospital stay
@@johnkonde1975yea but still, 46k for Civic is fking crazy.
K4 best choice
The K4 rear end is really horrible, especially at night, but everything else is good
At the end bros was just being bias giving crazy points to the Honda. The Honda lost badly tbh
Ready to see a newly designed Corolla. I love the Civic & Corolla
@@von98i you’ll be very disappointed. The civic is already superior to the next gen corolla.
Get the civic. Corolla can’t compete
you will have to wait at least a full year for a newly redesigned Corolla. 2025 Corolla is the same as 2024 Corolla
Civic acceleration is LOUD vs. Kia acceleration - Kias have best take offs than any other compact cars 👍
Naturally they are not talking about the crummy engine and drivetrain the Hyundai and Kia are famous for. Sure you pay more for a Honda but you'll get 400,000 me off of that motor if you take care of it. If you get 150,000 MI out of a Hyundai or Kia motor that's impressive. Yes I am an ASE certified mechanic, funny you should ask.
Oh please. Our Ridgeline had more recalls than a Ford, and the transmission took a dump at 48k mi. Hondas 20 years ago, sure; Hondas today, nuh-uh.
@@TrilithiumBanditKelseyexactly 😂 2018 Honda was the last good one imo
as of this point, youre paying honda for the name.
civics are just too expensive now.
Honda has had some hiccups along the way especially their 1.5 oil dilution issues but overall civic still got a better track record compared to Kia. how many old models of Kia do you see on the road ?? Now how many older civics do you see still going lol even 90s to early 2000 are currently being driven! IMO
@@johnkent6866 I see a ton of old Kia and Hyundai's. Even the early 2000s model.
@@johnkent6866 the 1.5t is gone
Did you just say piano black in the cabin is a benefit? 🤣 Everyone hates piano black it looks like absolute garbage and shows wear immediately lol
Maybe honda is not what it use to be. While Kia keeps getting better. Ill see if i can get 200k miles out of my Kia Forte.
The Honda beats any Kia on resale value and lower insurance premiums hands down!
hhhmm Honda is way more expensive to insure in Canada
