- This is part 1 of a 3 part video taken on a solo trip I did with my dog Maddy (aka The Goose) to the Algonquin region in Ontario Canada. We did a there-and-back starting at Wendigo Lake and moving South to Clam Shell Lake.
The weather was better than I could have hoped for with lakes of glass for almost the whole trip.
It was a nice relaxing trip and a great way to end the season.
I ADORE Maddy!! You're show's ok too...I guess! LOL You know I dig it!
aaaaaah, your form is so nice! It's refreshing to see someone who actually knows how to canoe
Dogs love canoes. They are the best camping buddies a man can ask for. Take your canine friend.
Couldn't agree more :)
NICE STUFF
wow nice new stuff my man!
Great video man, gotta love Canada.
Canoeing with dogs is the best. I just did a couple videos recently on my TH-cam with our dogs out canoeing too.
Your dog is so awesome like the country your in
I will watch the other 2 parts tomorrow but Part 1 5/5 I would think those portage's would be something else to deal with especially having to make 2 or 3 trips for your gear especially if any distance involved. as always maddy looking forward to your videos.
Yes, it's a quintessential existential, surreal place.Treat, as you would agree, is an understatement. It's like beyond words. I dig the way the dog is digging the scene. This is priceless-nice canoe. I lived in Mpls and never heard BWCA lovers pronounce portage with a French twist; I like it. But you know Minnedotans would probably wonder where yer from. But you're either Minnedotan or Canadian, ey? Darn, what nice guitar riffs. I like the border lakes. I go in up the Gunflint Trail. bbbboB
My boat is the Evergreen Prospector 16'. It's made out of their own material called Evertech. It's a little on the heavy side at 59lbs but very durable. When I bought it I though I may want to be upgrading to a lighter boat sooner than later but as it is, I'm quite happy with it and will likely hold on to it until it starts to break down (which will hopefully be a while from now).
Can't say enough good about the Hooligan Yoke pad. Thanks again to Algonquin Outfitters for providing that for me. And yes, Maddy enjoyed the towel. If something has anything to do with sleeping, she loves it lol.
Great Videos! They just keep getting better! Quick question though....How long did it take you to get from Wendigo to Clamshell? What time did you leave from the put in? Looking at maybe doing this in the summer of 2010.
it's nice to have a new video up, but I have 1 question. What canoe do you have/use? I've tried many but they've all ended up being ridiculously heavy and it makes portages near impossible.
Great videos! How heavy is your canoe?
Great video - what was your route?
I'm thinking about buying one of those MSR dromedary bags, is that a 4 or 6 litre one?
I did Wendigo to Clamshell in a day of travel. But keep in mind it was a really relaxed trip and I took a lot of footage so It's hard to say how much of that was really paddling. I think it was about 15km so it should really only take a few hours of straight paddling.
What kind of camera did you use on this trip? And if you liked it: why.
I'm thinking of doing close to the came kind of trip (by coincidence I also have a Springer Spaniel that I'm gonna take along) and would love to have some footage for my family.
thanks!
What video editing program did you use?
MIshomis.
Superior.
The first portage you skipped was from Wendigo lake to Alan lake?
Great videos! Maddy is very entertaining lol I was curious what make/model your new lightweight canoe is? Are you pretty happy with it? I've been looking recently to pick up a new one myself. Almost time for another season I can't wait! I live just north of you in the Soo area. I haven't been to Algonquin yet but it's def on my list. Thanks for the videos! Keep em coming :)
Kevin Holley Thanks. My new boat is the Souris River 16' Prospector, and I love it. It's light at about 40lbs and a comfortable paddle. Have a great season, maybe I'll see you out there :)
I use Final Cut Pro. Excellent package.
Maddy, what was your route?
When are we going to get some new videos ? Not that I should be talking since I have contributed zero ! But I got to sat I love the vids and was wondering iv you gave up on you tube ?
