- Part 11 of 11.
Come along on this extended cut video log of my solo canoe trip, well almost solo, I did it with my my dog Maddy. We made our way through Algonquin Park traveling 150km in all with 26 portages totalling 26km. There are a total of 11 videos that are each approximately 15 minutes.
Hope you enjoy watching them as much as we enjoying putting them together.
Seriously, this needs to be a half hour show once per week on TV.
took the morning of and watched all 11. thanks very much for the effort and sharing these. you must have been told this a million times MADDY IS GREAT. once again many thanks cheers
Very good diary , interesting , I couldn't compliment you more , thanks .
Troy, I wanted to thank you (and Maddy of course) for posting these videos. They were excellent and I found myself totally lost on the trip with you.
Thanks Troy and Goose for letting me spend a few hours in your amazing world of adventure. Troy your intelligent and informative narrative, peppered with grace and incredible optimism in the face of bleak conditions, has made me really appreciate your spirit and the power of TH-cam. So glad I stumbled across your channel and I will check back often. Possibly family outings with your 2 children, on short day trips. They come with different challenges- as I remember when my sons were young!
Troy, that was fascinating. I appreciate your resourceful, positive approach to outdoor adventure. Solo backcountry camping, paddling or backpacking doesn't look like a print ad for Coleman. Nature can throw us curves, even fastballs. Your comment about shutting down negative thinking and getting on with your objective was spot on. Thank you for a wonderful series. You are an inspiration. Best to you, Maddy and your family.
Thank you so much for sharing you trip with us. No only were you a good guide, your tutorials on dehydrating, cooking and everything else were a joy to watch. Many happy returns to you and yours.
This is the best camping video series on youtube i have watched the series 5 times never gets old hope new trip series is coming
loved it me and my wife actually hooked up the laptop to the tv and watched theses over 2 days - we really enjoyed it!!! what a great ending though!! we love maddy!
I absolutely loved this 11 episode saga. I had a wonderful springer spaniel, and maddy really made these videos special to me. You inspired me to take several canoe trips, some short trips, as well as a good long 6 day trip in maine. I am constantly looking for a new river for next summer. Thanks for all the good advice,
Mike
love love love all your videos! Thanks so much for all your contributions so far!
I just finished watching all 11 videos and loved every one. You kept your spirits high for all the rain you encountered. Greetings from N.S.
I just finished watching the series over a few nights. We had two golden retrievers and had to put them down a year or so ago and it brought back memories of paddling with both of them. When the youngest was a small pup he jumped out of the canoe in the middle of a lake and I had to quickly grab him as we glided along. He had to sit between my wife's legs to warm him up as he was shivering. Such a great series of vids and I almost felt like i was there with you. Thanks!
This series was a pleasure to watch, from beginning to end! It makes me long for my own trip back to the Algonquin Interior.
TROY AND THE GOOSE MADE IT OUT !! Thanks for providing us more videos, they are much appreciated. Great to watch these types of videos when one just can't make it out there and wants to be out there! Thanks again and hope more are a coming!
great video series. Took me several evenings to finish. Will be going through other videos. Great idea to stay busy on a solo with good companion and video to recall the adventure
We all miss your videos, you and your dog. You have been an inspiration to so many of us. Whatever the reason for your lonnng absence, hope it soon passes and makes you stronger. Best wishes from your subscribers.
+RhodieFreedomCamp Thanks a lot, I have had a lot on the go lately but I would like to put out some new trips. Hopefully I'll get out with the camera more this summer.

What a beautiful part of the world, it's a far cry from dry old South Australia, you are so fortunate. Thanks again and I just love your beautiful dog,.

I as well enjoy your videos, there is a nice rythme to them. I especially enjoy seing the routine of camp setups and meals etc... Keeps me going until my next trips. Thanks !
Troy, I just finished watching this awesome canoe trip video. Thanks to you and intrepid pooch Maddy for such an enjoyable canoe journey with you through Algonquin. Your cheerful demeanor through some ragged conditions was inspiring .. made me re-think complaining sometimes :). And your attention to key details of your pack, your gear, and why you're making the decisions and choices you made along the way was enlightening ... Maddy's 'can-do' doggy attitude also kept bringing big smiles to my face.:) I just subscribed. I've never been to Algonquin and I don't know if you ever lead canoe trips but I would definitely sign up for a 3 - 4 day canoe trip if you decided to lead a group. I love your knowledge and your attitude, so positive. Cheers !
Thank you so much, I'm really glad you've enjoyed the videos. Much appreciated my friend.

Alright Isaac. Yeah this guy does some really cool trips with Maddy, although it's been a while since he has uploaded anything new. I can recommend his other vids as well.
That was an awesome trip thanks for let us all see it with you! You have inspired me to take the kids on a canoe camping trip down the I&M canal!
Watched all 11 of these. You have a pleasant narration style, and do a good mixture of helpful/instructive content, and entertainment. Cool that you have your dog along. Thanks for all the recording and editing and posting. cheers.
Yea me to. Nice to see another trip troy. Keep up the good work
An Inspirational series of videos which I watched back to back. Your calm, can do & positive attitude held you in good stead throughout. I am emigrating to Canada this year and this is my kind of vacation, hopefully completing a 7 day trip in Labrador from Churchill Falls to GooseBay in August (Not Solo) I am sure however cold & tired Maddy felt during the trip she was a key element in the success of it and that when you left for work on Monday all the hardship faded away. Thank you very much for Sharing your journey.
Cameron Paterson Thanks Cameron, much appreciated. Welcome to Canada!

I watched the whole series twice now. You have the best canoe camping videos on the internet. I see that The Gear Loft.com is still under construction. I hope you can get back to it one day. Thanks Troy. Your considerable efforts are much appreciated. I like that you included a gear and food review. Awesome job!
That was an epic trip my friend. I felt every bite of your toe, the wind and ache through all of those portages. I felt the cold, hunger, tired, pain, low points and beauty of your experience. Thank you for sharing. I think I now need to lie down and rest. Whew! =)
Thanks, I appreciate that. It's always my intention to bring the viewer along for the ride, I'm glad you felt it.

Loved the videos Troy, couldn't stop watching them. I've done some backcountry trips but I can't imagine doing an eight day solo with that many portages. I got to say i watch mostly for Maddy then anything else.. She's a good girl. Nice vids by the way..
Fantastic videos! Watching these while the snow flies around outside makes me wish I were in the middle of nowhere, camping and canoeing. I followed your trek on my own map while watching. I've now started my official planning of my first 2015 trip.....as soon as all the snow melts....lol
Well done. I'm very interested in your project and would like some more details on supporting and starting something similar in the Guelph area.
This was a great series. I hope that you put up some videos on how to make some of the scrumptious food you made. Thanks and Jesus loves you! God bless!!
You've got grit my friend.
Great adventure, I enjoyed the whole series. Hope your toe was not too difficult to get back to normal.

Great series! Totally enjoyed your narration. Have done a lot of paddling influenced by Bill Mason, did my own Water Walker in 1991. Thanks for sharing!
Did a 9 day trip with friends in high school, in Algonquin, watching your videos of this trip is making me want to fly back to Ont. Form B.C. and do a canoe trip wow. I went to MEC today and got a tarp like yous love it so far...

One of the best TH-cam vids I've ever watched Troy. From beginning to end it was GREAT. So much learned, so can appreciated the trials and rewards. Sure hope you do another trip (perhaps not so ambitious) in the future. All the best from eastern Manitoba.
Fantastic series! Keep it up!

What an epic trip, Troy. My son and I are planning a trip to Algonquin this year and your videos are entertaining and informative. Your calm and positive approach through some adverse conditions you faced are truly inspiring. Keep on keeping on. You've earned a subscriber and good luck with the Gear Loft project.
